  1. It has been months, since you posted, so I don't know whether you will even see this message. This is Herbert from Munich, Germany and I will be doing this t/a, too. I have been with my partner for 23 years, but this year he is unable to come along. We cannot marry in Germany, only get a registered partnership, and we do not want to have a second class approval by our government, so we are still "living in sin". We are considering getting married in Las Vegas later this year, so we'll at least be legal on one side of the Atlantic. LOL

    Looking forward to meeting you,

    Herbert

  2. Hi Guys...Randy here (andersonislander). I was on the Nov 2013 Reflection TA which you two guys were on as well I believe...I was the 6'6" tall guy travelling solo if you remember me.

I'll be on the Reflection Oct 23 TA as second leg of my B2B (staying on board from Reflection's Oct 12 Eastern Med.)

I'm in cabin 2118 on the TA (and cabin 2163 on the Eastern Med. if anyone else is B2B)....

    Travelling solo on both legs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone onboard!

    Randy :D

    Hi Randy,

quite honestly, I do not remember much from our TA cruise two years ago, but this time I'll keep my eyes at the 6'6" level, instead of looking demurely at my own feet, so I won't miss you. Looking forward to seeing you (again) soon.

  3. Hi,

we just returned from a cruise on Celebrity Century to celebrate my 60th birthday (partner isn't quite there, yet) and we will be on this cruise as well, since my addiction to cruising did not fade with my "advanced age". We are from Munich, Germany, so we'll have to make sure, we have towels on the loungers, before you get up in the morning ;-)

If we don't see you, I hope you have Happy Birthdays.

    Herbert (and Uwe)

  4. Americans are quite shy in this regard, and it will probably not be tolerated as another passenger will complain. The most important thing to remember, and this applies to everyone, is that the relaxation area with the heated loungers is suppose to be QUIET. There is meditative music and aromatherapy and people trying to get to that transient bliss between awake and sleep . Then all of a sudden some noisy, yapping fool will come in and blow the whole experience.

That I would like them to enforce.

I don't use these areas so I'm not speaking from personal experience but from what I've heard and read:

This is no problem and not unusual in the single sex saunas which are off the men's or woman's locker rooms.

It is not allowed in the mixed sex Persian Gardens areas.

Exactly. We have frequented the saunas of various ships and very few guys kept their swimsuit on. But everyone is dressed in the Persian Garden Area.

  5. Usually they post it on the bulletin board close to Guest Services. The times and locales differ from ship to ship, but the Martini Bar seems to be the venue of choice on the Solstice Class ships (as is Equinox). We just came back from transatlantic on Silhouette and the 7pm meeting there seemed very well attended.

Hope I could shed some light.

  6. Thanks for the welcome, Lyle. Klettberg, where will you be in Missouri? We live near St. Louis. Simon, we will be on the same flight! We are looking forward to meeting all of you.

    John

I'll be in St. Louis for a couple of days, also Brunswick and Hannibal. I guess by US standards you live close to St. Louis. To the European eye (at least mine) it looked like an extended journey. :-)

  7. My partner and I are from Missouri and are also going to be on this cruise. We are pretty new to cruises, but are really excited. I will be celebrating my 54th birthday the first night. We are flying in to Istanbul 2 days early (Air Canada through Toronto) and are staying in Rome 2 nights after. We are really hoping to make some friends on the cruise! :)

Looking forward to meeting you on the ship. I will be visiting MO before my Transatlantic in April, so I might be raving about your home state, when we see each other. :)

  8. Hello Herbert. Welcome to the group! Looks like you are quite the experienced cruiser, and I see you have sailed on this ship before.

Yep. I am kind of addicted to cruising.:( I love the solstice class ships, including Equinox. Only kind of sad not be in aqua class this time. Just to costly for a one week getaway.

    See you then,

    Herbert

  9. I'm not sure if anyone else cares about this Elite perk, but my DH and I appreciated most the 5-7 pm social hours where we could meet and greet other fellow passengers each night in the same location. We made new friends in a nice atmosphere (and especially wonderful in Michael's Club on the Millie and Connie - but that seems like a thing of the past now) as well as in the Sky Lounge. Has anyone heard if we are still going to have this time and place each night, or just going to get drink vouchers for most any bar? Not a fan of that. Drink vouchers are fine to limit people taking advantage, but I'd love to know about the 5-7 pm venue remaining as a perk. Please advise if anyone has any info on this. Thanks.

As I mentioned in another post, our recent cruise on Reflection had about 2100 Captain's CLub members, 1200 of which were Elite. I don't know which venue they might have chosen for the cocktail party. We received vouchers and a couple of bars became regular meeting areas for those Elite members who enjoy the 5-7. The tables even had the CC menus with available voucher drinks on them. It seemed like plenty of people were socializing and getting to know new people. The even came around with hors d'oeuvres. And those who do not enjoy those gatherings too much had the chance to use the vouchers elsewhere, so to us it did not seem like too bad a deal.

  10. This topic has been on the boards forever. It is getting rather old. I am a bit curious about if and when and how the Captains club will revamp itself. I am elite. I joined the Captains club back in the day when you had to pay to join. The perks were one cat. upgrade, no fee for air deviation, and priority luggage service. I have lots of cruise credits. Many of those credits were acquired when any cruise got you one credit. It did not matter whether you sailed for 4 nights in an inside cabin or 3 weeks in a luxurious suite. They each got you one credit. Trying to change from cruise credits to cruise night points may be better for future cruises. As for the past cruises, changing credits to points could be a difficult experience. I do hope that whatever they do, they do not delete any perks that I have now. Also, curious about how this will affect my status on Royal and Azamara. If the main goal is to reward loyal guests, then adding new perks for very loyal guests would be greatly appreciated.

I just came off a Transatlantic on Reflection on Saturday and the Captain's Club hostess told me, that the new system would be out "soon" (whatever that means) and that nobody was going to lose any benefits. (For those who are worried. I am not). There were 2100 Captain's Club members on board, 1200 of which had Elite status. This meant vouchers for cocktails and breakfast in Tuscan Grill as well as Qsine.

  11. Thanks sdbart. I am not really worried. They will grant me some sort of citizenship eventually. And so far Celebrity has always made me more than happy. I'll try to drag my better half to the sailaway after the drill.

Schplinky: After almost 30 years as a flight attendant for Lufthansa I crossed the Alps numerous times with all the beer going to the passengers and not me, so I am sure your trust in LH is well founded. Hello again from "Italy's northermost city" (some of Munich's architecture is Italian inspired).
