From YVR, you can take The Canada Line (light rail) to downtown and get off at West Georgia Metro Station. A 10 minute walk is the Fairmont Downtown, a great old hotel with lots of restaurants nearby. The next day, you can take a relaxing 20 minute walk downhill to the cruise pier.

Katchikan Lumberjack show was lots of fun. Best part is you can take a gingerly walk from the pier, through town, and be there in 30 minutes.

Yes, Terry , we have been on many X discussions. looking forward to trying something different. Have heard good things about Tamarind and it is definitely on our radar. I am with you regarding smoking, and my DW does like to make an occasional donation at the casino, so hopefully it will be tolerable. That is one thing X seems to get right.
Hoping our cruising paths cross some day…….

Highly recommend the Lychee cocktail, which is only served at Tamarind.

Don't know if you can access this, but here goes. And no, they weren't new to HAL. They are on the Rotterdam until February.

Thanks so much!
Checked them out on youtube, can't wait to see them live.

Main theatre entertainment was the usual stuff - dance in various formats, a comedian, steel band. We only attended a few shows. The band in the Rolling Stone Rock Room made up for all the lack of entertainment in the main theatre.
Hi Barb, any idea if the band in Rolling Stone room was new to HAL? Were they the 20s ish slim British rockers? Or, slightly older with a bald lead singer?
Asking for a friend.

I'd certainly enjoy cruising on a more upscale line but for us, HAL fits our retirement budget and allows us the opportunity to knock off our bucket list efficiently. (Interpret that as "upscale lines are too expensive for us")
When I do the business case on the higher end lines and then add up my HAL fare plus my tours and tips and onboard expenses, etc. I am always better off financially w/HAL (or other "mass market" mid tier lines....or whatever category you call it)
I agree there are more upscale lines than HAL that offer much better experiences but the value of HAL fits us nicely (Interpret: we can afford it)
Food & Entertainment are excellent on HAL....IMO (Interpret: We love HAL for what we get for our $$$)
Savor the journey........no matter how much $$$$ or what cruise line you sail (Interpret: Glad we all have choices)
Exactly how my wife and I feel. Additionally, we don't feel any line can touch the quality of the live bands HAL has performing nightly on their pinnacle ships BB King and Rolling Stone venues.

Yes, it is very easy. You can cancel your flight 10 minutes before departure and get a credit for a future flight, or if paying with points, they will credit back the full amount to your mileage account.
