  1. Lois, The cabin is really quite lovely and I’ve only one gripe, there aren’t any drawers at all. There is a wardrobe but other than the hairdryer drawer in the bathroom, nothing. So my Knick knacks are still in my case under the bed. It’s my first trip in a solo cabin on any line and I’m glad to be here without the ridiculous supplements. Lola, this is by far the biggest ship I’ve ever travelled on (2900) andI was a little unsure but I love it. I Too live out in the sticks and can take or leave cities, I’m usually found chunnering about how dirty they are and full of rude people but as cities go the Edge ain’t bad at all.
  2. No Lola, I’m in a solo infinite verandah. Price was quadrupled for retreat and I get bees in my bonnet when it comes to solo fleecing. I Can find much more interesting things to do with 6k than jump a fairly short queue 🥳
  3. A couple of practical points. Wi-Fi is pretty good but sometimes laggy. I Upgraded to premium during the sale and here’s the Speedtest at nearly 3am. Also I used the ATM outside the Casino after hearing about the “commission” when charging onboard account. A $200USD withdrawal incurred a $6.95 fee. If anyone has any practical questions whilst I’m onboard I’ll do my best to answer. Anyone that has any tips to stop the coat hanger concerto in the closet please feel free to chime in.
  4. It was an incredible experience. If you have the chance just do it. I’m only on the SYD-SYD around NZ but my friends onboard are on the BTB GBR.
  5. Fabulous first full day on Celebrity Edge. What a beautiful ship. Dinner last night was at the Cosmopolitan, one of the finest steaks I’ve ever eaten. I Skipped the traditional breakfast this morning and opted for a Champagne and Pizza sorta breakfast instead. Unfortunately as I walked out of the back doors of the ship my Pizza flew off my plate and landed several tables across. The Tasman sea has been known to be a bit choppy at times. I Had a moochy pottering sort of day getting my bearings. Fabulous Figgy Cocktail at Eden at whatever they call the Friends of Dorothy meet-up this week. I think it starts out as LGBTQ but I lost interest soon after the first 5 letters. Dinner tonight was at the Fine cuts Steak House. The Lobster cocktail starter was a bit of a jolt. I’ve never had Lobster, Melon, grapefruit and horseradish before on the same plate but I worked around it. The Ribeye was superb but unfortunately an American portion. We soldiered on through 2 deserts with 3 spoons. The show was very good but nothing you could hum along to. Hats off to the 2girls that looked like they hadn’t had a square meal in weeks mastering the trapeze despite the swell. Some people watching in the Martini Bar and a Bacardi to take away. G’night all xxx
  6. I’m still alive Lola xxx Anyone got any tips on what to do about the coat hanger concerto in the closet? I’ve draped my best rags over them but they are still clanking away.

  8. Could that be the Lady Whisper approaching?
  9. I Passed David Jones just before reaching the Hotel. Sweet dreams my fellow coolers. I Finally found the kill switch only a 5 minute walk away by the front door.
  10. Does anybody know how to turn all these bloody lights off please? There must be a switch somewhere.
  11. What an incredible evening. If you get the chance to have Dinner at Altititude (Shangri-la 36th floor) then do. 5 course tasting menu $195AUD. If you want a window table you have to commit to a min spend of $250 pp, book online. The Scallop and Prawn Roulade was an absolute highlight. The Kangaroo was a first and last attempt. Watch the sun set over Sydney harbour with the most delightful staff. Sara is a Gem. A Glass of Veuve Clicquot to begin, a beautiful bottle of Ye-Ye throughout and then an incredible glass of Frogmore Creek Iced Riesling was perfection with the Desert. Celebrity Edge tomorrow. Let’s see what that brings!
  12. Best start saving now! Just watched the Disney Wonder sail away under the Bridge. Ovation looks late leaving. Busy day in the harbour! If I can I’ll try and get footage of the lovely lady whisper arriving in the morning. Edge is due in at 6.00, Whisper @7.00. There were lots on the Indian Pacific going on the Whisper. Mostly first timers booked on a package with a large UK firm. Anyone on her or the Edge have a wonderful cruise.
  13. Thanks Host JB, going swimmingly so far. Train was a straightforward 2 hour journey with very pleasant scenery. Uber from Central station to the Hotel. It really is a lovely Hotel, everything works and nothing has fallen on me/ trapped me on a balcony yet. I’ve a stunning view across the harbour. Shame it’s only for 1 night but I’ve got the same room type after the cruise for 2 nights. Had a potter around The Rocks and took a ferry round to Darling Harbour and back. The really helpful ferry man told me not to buy a ticket, just tap the phone and it’s $8.50AUD for unlimited public transport all day at weekends. Very helpful. Had a bit more fruit at the bar and couldn’t resist an Ice Cream. Dinner on the roof tonight!
  14. Luckily I didn’t break any bones in the shower this morning when the whole toiletry rack fell off the wall and onto my foot. It meant I didn’t get to breakfast until 10.29 and was turned away. Another flat no. I Sent a distress flare to Uber to get me the hell out of there. Currently sitting on the platform at the lovely Katoomba station which does feel very like home. Onwards and upwards!
  15. Hi Capri, nice to hear from you. I’m seeing Aus completely by land but NZ completely by sea!
  16. I Was surprised too Lola, not at all what I expected from my experience of Aussies over many years and certainly not reflective of the wonderful people that I’ve met everywhere else in this fabulous land. Some places just seem to have a certain culture. Anyway the view helps you move on. Only one night in Sydney tomorrow but it will be a good one! Got a nice corner suite at the Shangri La and meeting both new friends from the Indian Pacific for a drink and older friends joining the cruise for dinner in the rooftop restaurant there. After the cruise I get 2 nights back at the Shangri La for Australia Day! Off to dinner now xxx
  17. Question, when is a Fairmont not a Fairmont? Answer, when they only share the name. So as this leg of the trip was a last minute replacement for something that wasn’t working out time wise and the internet on a train crossing the Nullabor plains isn’t exactly full fibre my partner booked me 2 nights at the Fairmont Blue Mountains. Nice enough Deluxe Balcony with a Mountain View. I Thought that will be great, you can’t go far wrong with a Fairmont. On arrival it did feel a little unFairmontly. The towel hanging out of the bottom of the unplugged fridge was the first sign something was afoot. The gangs of feral mini monsters that seemed to be holidaying without their parents was another. They seem to roam around unsupervised in little gangs. I Found myself contemplating yesterday evening how many times I’d heard the staff say no since I’d arrived. Not just to me but to many others. It wasn’t even a no that hinted an apology, it was a no that was accompanied by a silent roll of the eyes into the back of the head. Do you have slimline tonic? No. Can I decide on a desert after my main course? No. Is there a bar open after dinner, No. Can I order a burger for my son? No, kitchens closed. Some of the staff are really lovely though but the whole feel of the place is certainly not positive or can do. After quite a morning where my balcony door had jammed whilst I was outside without my phone (luckily I had my iPad so emailed an emergency rescue request to Reception) an engineer was dispatched and eventually he freed it. It happened again an hour later but luckily I was on the inside this time. Following on, after yet another No from Reception, I informed the Receptionist that I’d never heard the word No used so many times in 24 hours even after binge watching the box set of the Vicar of Dibley. (I didn’t expect him to get that one though). When I said this doesn’t feel like any Fairmont I’ve ever stayed in before he informed me that they were nothing to do with the Canadians, they just share a name. So there you go. If you ever get the opportunity to visit this magical place then you must, just choose your hotel wisely. Had a lovely potter around a beautiful little village called Leura this afternoon. Anyway I bought myself a lovely new hat, a squashy Barmah from a fabulous little shop in Katoomba so the world is good again. Sydney tomorrow.
  18. I Toddled off late afternoon for a potter around Katoomba, a nice little town. The locals assured me that it’s not usually as sunny as it was yesterday. A storm cloud passed overhead mid afternoon but 20 minutes later it was blazing sun again. A Lovely dinner last night in Embers Grill on-site. Lamb Skewers, Fill it Steak, and Pineapple Panna Cotta, accompanied by a delicious Lychee Martini and Taittinger. Off to breakfast now, massage at 9.00 and then a full day on the HO-HO to explore the area more.
  19. I’ve had the most amazing day. Breakfast was on the train before disembarking around 8.30. A Trip to Scenic World was an incredible experience. Cable car, sky ride, the steepest train in the world backwards! Seen the 3 sisters and the views were incredible. Nice lunch at Echo point. Had my own private coach to the fairmont resort for a couple of nights. All checked in and got a nice view of the mountains from my balcony. Not the grandest Fairmont and it could do with a bit of a polish but really nice all in all. All this by 2.15. The resort is overrun with small human type creatures that make lots of strange noises and throw food around. Here for 2 nights then of to Sydney. The Indian Pacific was really incredible and today’s tour was the crowning glory. I Can’t believe I’ve only been here 6 days!
  20. Cook, SA. Population 4. Got some good drone footage.
  21. I Have a strawberry blonde brother so I do have to be careful. I Found myself scurrying around Ayers Rock Resort from one bit of shade to the next. Adelaide will be tropical!
  22. First time Celebrity cruiser here, been on several cruises before, most recently Silversea and my last live from was the Infamous Pirates of the Caribbean cruise on Crystal Symphony with the arrest warrant incident Here’s hoping for a slightly less adventurous adventure this time. Travelling solo and boarding on the 13th. (Do have friends onboard though) I Arrived in Oz on Thursday afternoon after 2 long days travelling from MAN-DBX-MEL- AYQ. Luckily got a great upgrade offer from Emirates on the DBX-MEL leg so snapped their hand off. Uluru was an incredible experience, took a sunset helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa. Heavy storms the next afternoon meant all excursions cancelled so no Drone show and Dinner. Stayed at Sails in the Desert and couldn’t fault the place. Flew Sat AYQ-SYD -PER to join the Indian Pacific train Perth to Sydney. Plenty on the train are joining the Edge on the 13th. Looking forward to my first “bigger” ship experience and all that this amazing part of the world has to offer. Can’t wait to join the beautiful Edge. Any shipmates are welcome to jump on here too. See you onboard!
