Warning:  I did this on a prior cruise and the Premier Package was not recognized upon boarding.  One of us could not board as the medallion did not work.  After they allowed us to board and after we got our WiFi connected, or so we thought, we went to Alfredo's for lunch.  We ordered drinks and waited over two overs to be served.  By the time we got back to the room charges were hitting our account for the drinks.  We went back to the restaurant and they had no explanation.  This happened several times throughout the cruise so many wasted hours were spent at Guest Services getting the charges removed.  Finally, make sure the bartender is giving you what you paid for.  For example, the wine bars will have premier wines but the normal bars may not so you never know for sure what you are getting.  Please carefully monitor your onboard account and be sure to resolve all issues before leaving the ship.

ugh what a hassle, I am sure hoping this does not happen to us!

  3. hello travel experts 🙂 I will have more than just a couple questions because I'm confused!

    1.  This evening I upgraded to Premier for a cruise next week, and am now trying to book dining at specialty restaurants on the app, but it is asking for my credit card?  Do I just book and get credited later?  Or am I supposed to be seeing the credits somewhere?  Does it just take time?

    2. what is "pay rewards"? It says  "earn 7% back on shoreside purchases"... what does this mean and how do I do it?  Is it just automatic?  Does shoreside just mean things that I book or prepay for before embarkation?

    3. What is a journey account?

    thanks!

Not true. I'd never use that TA again.

I only used him because he was recommended by a friend and the deal he was offering was attractive, but when I asked him to load some gift cards on my OBC account he said I have to do it on the ship, so I shared a reply that I saw on here showing that he can do it, so we will see if he does it or not.  I am sooo big on customer service as my job is CS related, so its things like these that remind me why cheap is not usually worth it

  5. Hello, OP here with a rundown of what has happened.  I called Princess again Friday and was again told I was a new passenger and no evidence of anything else, even with me having the same phone number for many years and I gave the other email address that it could have been under.  The new travel agent told me again Princess purges every 10 years.  I messaged my original TA and she never replied, presumably because I booked with a different TA.  So I read through the above thread in more detail and took the advice of whomever suggested trying to input my old email address to find another online account.  Bingo, reset my password, signed in and got my original reward number.   Chat this morning got me nowhere, so I called the 800-901-1172  suggested above and he was able to merge the accounts.  What should have been so simple became soooo irritating, basic customer service is a lost art!  Thank you all!

  6. I have some gift cards that I was planning on using to pay for things onboard my upcoming cruise, and from what I read on other posts, I understood that I could either stand in line at passenger services, or ask my travel agent to load them.  I did not want to mess with it on the cruise so I asked the travel agent, and he told me I had to do it on the ship, that he only can use them for new bookings.  I am interested in hearing what other agents do?  It is only a 4 day cruise so I really didn't want to waste time waiting in line but it may be inevitable

  7. I haven't cruised on Princess for 10 years (10 years and 10 days technically), and even though I have one of my prior booking numbers for them to reference, Princess is saying they purge the numbers when I haven't cruised for 10 years with them.  They are considering me a new cruise guest, so now I start earning loyalty from the bottom.  Any suggestions how to get credited for my past loyalty?  I had no idea they timed out!
