Hello, my SIL and and I are taking my MIL on a cruise this December. We, along with several others take a girls trip every spring-usually a cruise. 85 yo MIL missed it this year because of complications from a broken hip. She is now back on track, so we wanted to take the opportunity and book a cruise with her. Due to several reasons I won’t bore you with, we booked the Paradise. I’ve never sailed Fantasy class (my favorite ship so far is a tie between Horizon and Magic). I love comedy, piano bar , serenity area and thermal spa. But this trip is for her and her priorities are easy navigating, casino , a balcony cabin and a nice Serenity area. Balconies were sold out so we are in a junior suite G29. There is an area next to it that I’m not sure what it is though.

I don’t see a lot of reviews for the Paradise. If anyone has sailed her recently and has input they’d like to share I’d love to hear it.

    Thank you 😊

We were in G27 not to long before Covid. It is just like a regular balcony on any other ship. We had a 3rd person with us, and it was nice that the couch made into a bed .

I have been reading a lot of reviews lately and have noticed more and more people saying they are testing positive once they return home. Now like most reviews people are quick to review a bad experience over a good one, so that got me thinking how many are returning from their cruise and have been fine?

I tested positive when I got home from my Magic cruise on May 13, but The last night I had developed a cough, fever, loss of taste and smell, stayed in cabin away from everyone. My taste and smell have just now started to come back.  Tested again on the 19 and was still positive, got a negative on the 27th. I had covid in February.   My husband also got it, 2 days behind me. We got steroids , cough syrup, and Paxlovid from Dr.

I am planning on booking Carnival Vista Deck 1 midship. Does anyone know that if staying on deck 1 has any advantages. I know that it is right above propulsion systems, and to not choose a cabin in the bow, but is it worth it to pay $10 to upgrade to deck 2, and $20 to upgrade to any higher decks. (9, 6, 7 etc)

We had 3 ocean view deluxe rooms on the Vista, August 2016 in Europe. So easy getting on and off the ship. We had no noise. Cabins 1359, 1363 and 1347. The extra bathroom was great for showers and we had a 3 year old who fit in the small tub, in one of the rooms.

    Hi All

I am thinking of booked an obstructed view balcony on the Legend but wondering if anyone has done it before.  Questions include can I actually sit out on the balcony?  I have only done a balcony on Carnival once and have never done this category?  Please advise.  Any tips

We had an obstructed balcony on the Legend to Alaska, July 30,2019. Cabin 5178, which is above a lifeboat, we loved it, no problem seeing over it. We were out on deck for cruising Tracy Arm Fjord, it was cold so we went back to our room to hang out on our balcony. We lucked out on the weather, no rain and low 70 degrees. It was our Grandson's pick for graduation, not on our  bucket list, but turned out to be one of our favorite cruises.

Couple last minute questions.   We had to buy the Abbott at home tests from the link on the Carnival site (I called everyone around us and no one is doing the rapid tests in our area anymore (Doctors, CVR, Walmart, Meijer, Rite Aid tried them all)  - only PCR which can take a couple days for results, and we don't want to take a chance!)   We leave on a Thursday in 10 days for our cruise and since we are fully Vaxxed AND Boosted we plan to do the test on Monday - 3 days before.

For anyone that has actually cruise since the changes March 1st:

    1.  Can anyone confirm that this is what they have done and had no issues - 3 days before?

(The reason I ask is because the canned email I keep getting from Carnival still says it MUST be taken 2 days before - but I know the Carnival site says if you are vaxxed and boosted 3 days).  We wanted to do the full 3 days before to give us time to respond just in case there is any issues like a test that doesn't work right or something.

    2. Also, I created the account for the Abbott at home tests and I know I can go in and print the results off to take with us, but I think we might also get a QR code or something sent to our phone.  I am old fashioned and would prefer to have a HARD copy in hand printed of the results, but somewhere I read that some ports may not accept this - only QR code?  So bit confused.

Does anyone have 1st hand knowledge of this, is a printed copy OK as long as it meets what Carnival's website says it has to have on it for info - Name, DOB,  Date/Time tested, testing agency, wording as far as Non Detected/Negative, etc.

We tested Thursday March 10th for our Saturday March 12th on the Mardi Gras. There were 4 of us. Somehow we all ended up with 2 sets of negative tests, one had the E-Med logo and all the other pertinent info on it and then a little while later one with a QR code popped up on my phone, so we printed both. The agent checking in my husband and I said they just needed the one with the QR code. That was our experience, not to say that someone else may have had a different one.

Well, my 17 year old's passport is expired and he does not yet have a driver's license. We do have his birth certificate. He has his high school ID with picture but no real government ID. We sail in 3 weeks. Any ideas/advice?

High school ID worked just fine for our traveling companion's son on the Mardi Gras this past week. He is 17 also.

And as predicted, half moon cay cxld today.  Let’s see how SMX & Antigua unfolds… rough, lousy weather so far as we remain perfectly aligned within a cold front.

So sorry your trip has been rough so far. Looks like St. Martin should be around 83 mostly sunny, and Antigua 81 and sunny. My sister and BIL are on this cruise, they are from the northeast and were hoping for sunshine and warm weather. Enjoy

We are out of New Orleans and there is a Walgreens two blocks from our ore-cruise hotel.  I will call them  Thank you.  I am from Illinois but now live in California.  Hope all is well there.

A lot of the CVS and Walgreens Pharmacies that have minute clinics do the rapid tests, 15 minutes, the others do the tests that take 2-3 days to get results. I've done both at CVS, the longer test came back in 2 days.

To me anyone who booked during covid is saying they feel ok about cruising. We didnt know protocols when we booked and dont know them now. I got 11 booked, so obviously I will deal with whatever the cruiselines come up with. Perhaps I spend more time alone, or in my cabin, but whatever is required that's what I'll do. And yes I'm vaccinated.

We have January2022 booked. So if a person was vaccinated in March , that would be 10 months after vaccination, would a third shot be required since shots wouldn't be good for that long of a period. Just asking because I read something about third booster shots being ready this summer.  I don't think I've seen anything about length of time for proving vaccinations for cruising.

I haven't read this entire thread (so many pages by now) but skimmed through the first few pages, a few in the middle and the more recent pages.  My question is this - I have had two cruises (April 6 and July 6) now canceled by Carnival. The second one was a rebook for the first canceled one.  My total refund is $8,700 which includes the shore excursions.

Anyone know how they are handling refunds if the credit card used doesn't have much of a balance left on it? I used my Carnival Master Card to purchase everything (originally booked back in October) and subsequently paid off the card several times (only used it to get the fun points).  If they process my $8,700 refund to the "original" form of payment,  It will payoff the $2,200.00 balance I have on that card and I will end up with a massive $6,000.00 CREDIT balance on the card. Anyone in a similar situation?

I alternate between Chase Southwest and Citibank cards.  I used Chase for my cruises, one deposit of $400 was credited today. There is no balance on it , so it shows up as a credit. My 2 cruises were TA and Med, not until October so I had only paid deposit. $6000 is a massive amount of credit to use, $400 is a months cellphone and directv!

So did you get to disembark earlier than others who didn't participate in the program?  Trying to figure out transportation back to airport for 4 of us.

Fortunately we are Diamond so we were 1st group off the ship, but  when I did our check in on line before we left it included our air plans, so 2 two nights before the end of the cruise they delivered our boarding passes to the cabin and we set out our luggage the night before with the airline luggage tags attached. Next time we saw our luggage it was on the carousel at MCO. We flew SWA . Pretty impressive since our flight from SEATAC thru Minn/St.Paul was cancelled , ran to get a flight to LAX to MCO, got to LAX , all kind of problems with flight delays got home about 8 hours later and the luggage was there. Carnival lets people with flights off with the early folks, I' m pretty sure the all do that. Have a fantastic trip.

I was checking in for our November cruise and realized that my son's passport was expired.  :classic_ohmy:     I had originally gotten son's passport when DH and myself got ours.    What I forgot was that because he was only like 13 or so, that his passport would expire in less time than ours.   He's now 18 and needed a new one.

I've submitted for a new one and I'm fairly confident that we'll receive it before our Thanksgiving cruise.

My question is:    can I continue checking us all in for our cruise before his new passport arrives?   I will not have an expiration date to list until we receive it.    Can I check  him in using the Birth Certificate option for travel documents for now?   Then go in and revise it to Passport when we get the new one?    Or am I stuck with Birth Certificate option if I choose it now?

Yes , just put birth certificate , then edit when passport comes in. I did this for our "Girl's " cruise next month, I also made everyone's account cash and they will give their own credit cards when checking in at the port.

Hello, planning a cruise for August 2020. We've done 3 to Mexico and 3 to the Caribbean. Thinking about an Alaskan cruise and wondering about the different vibe or atmosphere it might have than a tropical cruise. Is there still alot of music, and upbeat activities. I can't imagine Calypso music playing so is it still a fun ship? We are young 65 year olds and like the energy of carnival. Will it be there on the Alaskan cruises?

We were on the Legend July 30 this year. We had perfect weather high 60s, low 70s and NO rain. The 1st day out of Seattle was our only sea day. The 2nd day out was cruising Tracy Arm Fjord (which was cold and damp out on the deck, but worth being there) The rest of our days were in ports. We spent time in the casino pretty late, saw comedians, no shows. The casino did close at 230pm on our last day headed into Victoria, B.C., which by the way is a gorgeous city, so many flowers, clean, easy to get around , beautiful houses, it was what I expected the pacific northwest to look like. We had a fabulous time but we are warm weather lay out on the deck people, but so glad our grandson picked this cruise as his graduation gift from his Grammy and Grandpa, thanks, Caleb!

Can any help me find some hotels for Alaska precruise hotel for one night.

That would offer even for a charge shuttle to hotel then next day shuttle to pier 91. Then after from pier 91 to airport.

I have search and can't seem to find any.  I usually go from Florida or cruises and never have problems but can't seem to find any thing for seattle.  Seems I can find some for pier 61 not nothing for 91

We've been home a week today from our Alaska cruise on the Legend. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and Suite on Aurora ave. One night total was $312.96 . Our flight from Orlando landed at 915AM. We got to the hotel around 11 and asked if the had an early check in and they did. No extra charge. The free breakfast was very nice, eggs pancakes, fruit, yogurt etc. Lots of construction on the roads in that area, but quiet at night. The is a Walgreens 2 blocks up the street. Walking distance to the Space Needle, Chihuly Glass museum and Pikes Market. We did them all. I asked about getting a taxi to the port and the hotel had a shuttle for $10 each. If your flying out of Seattle make sure you use the Port Valet for your luggage, it's free.
