I will be sailing out of San Juan in January. My husband prefers a beach hotel location, so we're looking in the Isla Verde and Condado areas.

I understand USVI has banned non reef friendly sunscreens to protect the coral. What are some of your favorite reef friendly brands? Are there any difference between reef safe and regular sunscreen besides absence of certain chemicals? I'll be in St Thomas in January, just trying to plan ahead.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We'll be making a stop at Tortolla in January and have been considering this as an alternative to The Baths.

Has anyone done the Catamaran and lobster lunch cruise excursion through NCL? My husband and I will be in Antigua in January. We're considering this as an alternative to having a beach day. Would love to hear feedback from those who've done this. Thanks!

Right now all the NCL cruises we are considering seem way pricy but they include the the drink package, wifi, speciality dining. I would prefer getting a lower rate and then just pay per drink. It's been years since I have travelled with NCL. Is that likely to return or do they always bundle the cruise fare with these extras?

PS I am trying to plan a trip with extended family, some are diabetic, etc and many kids so the wifi and drinks aren't the best options for us.
You can opt out of the "extras" when completing a booking. Just have to unselect those options. My husband and I were able to opt out of the drinks and specialty dining packages. He doesn't drink so paying gratuities on a "free" drink package didn't make sense for us.

My husband and I will be sailing on NCL Viva in January 2025 sailing from San Juan. We're looking into staying at the Caribe Hilton before the cruise. How far in advance should I book a pre-cruise hotel?
Book hotel now or wait

Thank you for this recommendation. I didn't realize La Concha was a part of Marriott and I have points that need to be used up.
