  1. Prices (and charges for mixers) happened around June this year.

It's many things, but it's certainly not a "scam". "Scam" means dishonest or fraudulent. The prices might well be excessive, but there's nothing illegal in that.

It is a bit of a scam when you are not told that up front or that it is not noted on the menu.

  2. Just off QM2 from a EB TA (M745) and was appalled to find that they are now charging for mixers with cocktails. Something like $1.29 for tonic or soda with a mixed drink! I have always was pleased that they didn't really charge a premium for beverages (land prices, as I called them) but now the alcohol price has gone up a dollar or two and they are charging for mixers. It is purely a Carnival scam and a money grab. I love Cunard and love QM2, but what a crock.

I did note that in my survey but will also let my Travel Agent and Cunard know directly.

    Opinions?

  3. VERY late to the thread :) Just curious what you decided? We did the "Cunard Luxury Coach Transfer" once....never again. Terrible experience. We just returned from a WB TA. Used Smiths for Airports - $142 US. Picked us up at the hotel and dropped us at the pier. The M3 was closed so it took us about 3 hours rather than the usual 1+, but had a lovely drive and some sightseeing in the countryside and London. We are both "early to the airport/pier/etc so we were not stressed. Hope you enjoyed what ever you decided! Thanks, Tom

  4. You must be either Diamond level or Queens Grill then. Since the new type of labels came into force, the embarkation label has to be left on for disembarkation and no other disembarkation tag given (I'm platinum and Britannia).

From our QM2 instruction leaflet last month:

    Diamond CWC: Yellow 1 tags

Queens Grill Q1-Q4: Light Blue 4 tags

Queens Grill Q5-Q6: Light Blue 2 tags

Princess Grills and Britannia: Embarkation tag

Great! :) I am Platinum for this cruise and thought I might get some priority, guess not :( But good to know. We will leave everything intact.

  5. I just printed off my luggage tags for an upcoming cruise. I just noticed that there is a small notation "DO NOT REMOVE This label is for embarkation and disembarkation"

Sort of confused. I have been on a number of Cunard voyages and have always gotten colored/numbered tags a couple of days before the end of the cruise. Has this changed?

    Thanks! Tom

  6. We will be doing a WB TA on QM2 in November. We will be coming over a day early. In the past we have gone from Heathrow to London for a couple of days then to Southampton. This time we are thinking of going to Southampton directly. We would have a good part of a day then the next morning to the pier. Is there anything worthwhile to see in or around? Thanks, Tom

  7. Due to flight schedules we are spending an extra night in Quebec City. Staying at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Quite excited about that!!

Can anyone help with these questions:[*]Best way to get from the cruise terminal to the hotel? Taxi? Private Car?[*]Best way to get from the hotel to the airport?[*]How is Canadian Customs handled once you arrive in Quebec City?[*]Is there US Immigration at the airport or do we do that in Philadelphia on our way back to the US?

    Thanks!!

  8. All....great information. We will be on Jeffery's cruise as well. Due to flight schedules we are spending an extra night in Quebec City. Staying at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Quite excited about that!!

  9. We thought the service was quite nice. Our cabin Steward was charming and helpful. MDR staff was nice. I thought a couple of the people at the Front Desk were a little testy, but it just might have been a bad day. Most of the bar servers were quite nice as well. We spent most afternoons in the Crows Nest and the bartender and servers all knew what I drank after about day 3 :)

  10. Does anyone know if the Oosterdam is due for a refit and update any time soon? We are just off the 10 day Southern Caribbean and she is in need of some love. While she was clean and seemed mechanically sound, the carpets were tattered and the decor was off by a few decades. Just my opinion.

  11. We ended up using Larry's Limo Service. It was a great experience. The driver was there early. It took us about an hour to get from Port Everglades to MIA due to rush hour AM traffic. It did cost more than the HAL shuttle but we left when we wanted and were dropped where we wanted.

We used the Expedited Disembarkation and were off the ship by 7:35.

  12. We will be sailing on Eurodam from Port Everglades soon. We have a 2:20 PM flight out of Miami after we leave the ship. Obviously, there will be no time crunch making that flight. Thus, we will be in no hurry to leave the ship. We will have a car service picking us up. As I want to advise the service what time to pick us up, when should I tell them to be there, after immigration, etc. Again, we would like to leisurely leave the ship (knowing that disembarkation day generally isn't too leisurely).

Thanks in advance for any advice you might might be able to give!

We will be flying out of MIA> What service do you use? We have never had good luck with taxis in FLL in general. Thanks, Tom

  13. We will be on Solstice in about a week heading from Seattle to Alaska and back. What has the weather been like? Debating heavier coats etc. The forecasts are looking rather mild. Comments? Suggestions?

    Thanks, Tom

  14. I cannot find the search function. Perhaps it disappeared during the maintenance yesterday.

My question is whether there is a specific form for Cunard, like there is for Princess, to use to apply for my shareholder benefit for my upcoming cruise. Payment has been made, so now it is time to send in the proof of shares.

    Thank you.

I submitted a questions to CC. It is currently broken and the are working to get it back up. No time frame though.

  15. Does anyone know if there is a library collection listing for any of the Queens? We will be on QV in April and don't want to bring any duplicates of books. Yes, I am one of those people that want a book with pages to turn. :)

    Thanks, Tom

  16. I dug around in many of the posts but couldn't find an answer. We will be on a 5 day W Carib on Liberty of the Seas, Dec 7. We have been on Cunard QM2 many times and RSSC. On Cunard QM2, in the MDR, there are 2 seatings and everyone dines at those times. I am a bit confused as to how the seatings work on Liberty when there is As You Wish. I did read you can make a reservation for your preferred time or do you just show up between 6 and 9, reservation or not?

As for the formal nights, we have always traveled with our tuxedos and had a great time as the great majority of the ship honors the dress code and Cunard enforces it after 6PM in the public parts of the ship. I get the impression from the boards that it seems to be about 50/50 on Liberty.

    Any information would be appreciated!

    Tom
