Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. It’s been great thus far! We had another spectacular day yesterday in Glacier Bay and today was gorgeous in Skagway.
  2. Absolutely spectacular day in College Fjord! I hope it’s as good for everyone on this thread.
  3. Original was arrive at 6pm, depart at 8:30pm, so close.
  4. We were going 17 knots according to the screen a minute ago and are going 16 now. There hasn’t been an announcement but considering it was after 10:30 and we were still stopped, I expect an update in the morning. I’m guessing that little box was the testing.
  5. Currently stopped for the screw to be re-engaged & testing. 🤞🏻
  6. I’m on the Sapphire Princess now. The Captain came over the speakers around noon today with an update. There are crew onboard with the part needed to fix the issue and it seems that it is now replaced. They will be stopping the ship this evening between 8 & 9 pm to reengage the starboard screw (propeller) and run tests. As long as all goes well we should be able to get our scenic cruising in College Fjord tomorrow. So as long as this solves the issue all should be fixed tonight and cruising will resume as per the itinerary. Which, since we are on a b2b cruise, bodes well for our return journey. I hope this alleviates the anxiety of those on upcoming journeys. I’ll try to remember to update after the tests this evening.
  7. Had a stellar day in Skagway today after rainy and cold in Juneau yesterday. Arrived in Juneau around 2:30pm instead of 8am after losing all our inside passage views and Ketchikan by sailing to the west of Vancouver Island. Many people had their excursions cancelled. College Fjord was still on the itinerary two days ago but is gone now in addition to Glacier Bay. The Captain had cited currents as being part of the reason we had to go north on the open ocean, so I hope coming back (we are on a back to back cruise) we might get to sail the inside passage and stop in Ketchikan if the issue isn’t solved. They were clear in the letter that the compensation offered (75% refund & 75% towards a future cruise if booked by the end of this year in our letter) was *only* for the northbound journey. Whether that’s because they can fix it in Whittier or because they don’t want people to know it can’t be fixed remains to be seen.
