  1. Thank you.  Am aware of issues related to tickets for Alhambra, and we have decided not to try to pack that into this trip, given the difficulty of managing the timing and only being in Granada for about 3 hours. We are great walkers, so we just plan to see the Cathedral and as much of the Old Town as possible.

    Appreciate your help.

  2. I may just be being paranoid, but I am wondering if I should rethink the cabin location for two reasons. (1) Any smoke drifting down from the smoking area on the Sun Deck immediately above these cabins? (2) Any engine rattle/motion/noise?

Myself, I would probably just roll with whatever, because I don't anticipate being in the cabin very much. But I'm in charge of making and managing the reservations for our entire family, so I don't want to screw it up. 8-o

Thanks for the advice of those who have sailed in the last -- or nearly last -- cabins on the Violin Deck of one of AMA's boats.

  3. We will be taking our first river cruise next May - Amsterdam to Basel on the AmaSonata. "Excited" is a gross understatement!!

A question for the gallery: We are renting a car for a second week driving through Germany & Austria, and we have chosen to collect the car in Loerrach in order to save $500-$600 on the hire. Now all we have to do is to figure out how to get 4 of us, and our baggage, from Basel port to downtown Loerrach. Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks in advance!!

  4. Ship: Eclipse

    cabin #: 2105

    deck #: 12

    class: Concierge

    area: Midship

    bed near: Bath

quiet?: Yes, for the most part. Some nights there was thumping noise from the Oceanview around 11pm.

    balcony view: Unrestricted

balcony size: Large -- angle of the hump

    wind a problem?: No

    soot a problem?: No

problems/comments: A comfortable cabin, but we probably would not choose it again because of the odors -- sometimes cigarette smoke odors blew through from the Port-side-near-Pool smoking area, and several days we had heavy diesel odors.

  5. It looks like Celebrity has decided to be proactive: I am on a T/A in 2 weeks -- no bev perks for T/As, so we purchased a bev package. Yesterday I received an email informing me that the bev pkg prices would be increasing 4/20 and advising me that I may wish to purchase or upgrade a package prior to 4/17 (4 days before my sailing).

To my mind, this shows basic courtesy. It's also a good business risk management, since the customer relations folks can now say to the line of irate passengers, "But we informed you of the planned increase."

    Thumbs-up.

  6. We are leaving mid-April for a TA on Eclipse. I am considering getting the Verizon at-sea package. Can you tell me whether you think it was worth the $$? Did you have an opportunity to compare email/data speeds on the Verizon at-sea connection to the ship's data connection? And comparative price?

Thanks for any advice. Since this is a 3-week trip, I will have to take both iPhone and Mac to keep connected to work.

  7. We will be in Bermuda the very end of April and are considering a Snuba excursion. Also reconsidering it, because the climate/weather statistics indicate fairly cool air and water temps that time of year.

Wondering if anyone has first-hand experience to offer.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. I echo the suggestion to plan for an early afternoon flight out of FCO, as well as the suggestion to fly in a day early. We flew in 2 (or 3?) days early, giving a day to deal with jet lag and a day to see the highlights of Rome.

FYI: The port town (Civitavecchia) is some distance from Rome, but there is a train that runs between the 2. We didn't use it for travel to/from FCO, but it was extremely helpful for transit from our hotel in Civitavecchia to sightseeing in Rome.

    Cheers!
