  1. My husband and I have never sailed on Seabourn specifically because of the smoking policy. We sail Regent (just returned from a 21 day cruise with no smoking problem). We sail Crystal. I have looked longingly at some of the Seabourn offerings, but will not take the gamble of having a smoker in the ajoining balcony. That happen to us once years ago and it spoiled the cruise. I could tolerate not using the Oberservation Lounge after 8PM, but am not willing to tolerate smoke invading my private space. I have many friends who feel the same.

  2. "Somehow I did not get the memo that there were two formal optional nights. Ninety percent of the men wore tux or at least jackets. Women were all dolled up, too. We skulked around for a flash and decamped to the lounge have a drink before dinner."

What percentage do you think wore tux, and what percentage wore just coat and tie. We are trying to decide how much to pack.

We will not see you unless we happen to pass on the gangway.Love getting your updates.

  3. Hardly banquet food and you can not compare cooking for 3,000 people to a great restaurant cooking for 50. My wife is by far the best cook in the world so if great food is all I care about I would just stay home. There is a lot more to eating out than just food. If we ate out 7 nights at a great restaurants the cost would almost equal our 7 day cruise cost. Some of Celebrity's specialty restaurants are as good if not better than 90% of any restaurants on land, the cost is a little more but you get more. Come on what do you really expect for the price of a cruise.

The question I think was which line Celebrity or RCCL has better food. My pick is Celebrity.

I don't expect more. I am not complaining about the price. I think the prices are amazing for what you get. I love many thing about cruising, but food is not one of them. Surely you must agree that when you serve 3000 people, it is banquet food. I think you and I agree. If great food is what you are looking for, you do not find it on a cruise. I have not been on RCCL, but from what I hear, you are probably right. Celebrity is probably better banquet food. I was just trying to make the point that your level of satisfaction of the food will depend on your prior dining experiences.

  4. If you really know food, you will not be happy with any cruise food. I cruise in spite of the food. It is is of course banquet food--regular banquet food and better banquet food. Looks pretty and very exciting to people who have never eaten in great restaurants. Your satisfaction will depend on what your previous experiences have been.

  5. We are elite+ but after our last cruise had decided that we would not cruise again on Celeberity because of the continued decline of the QUALITY of the food even in the specialty restaurants. We will sail less often but choose better quality. I don't need a bigger suite, but I do want good food. Celebrity has beautiful ships, but that is not enough for me. I am willing to pay more for a much better dining experience.
