  1. Although I've used Priceline, we have good luck using Hotwire for hotels in Ft. Lauderdale. It is an opaque site, but fairly easy to figure out which hotel you will likely get if you look at one of the sites, like Bidding for Travel, where people post hotels they got, by matching up amenities, etc.

It does depend on when you are traveling, of course. Some weeks are much higher than others.

I'm going on the Oasis on 2/14 and fly in a day early. A couple of years ago I got a hotel that picked up at the airport and took me to pier the next day for free. I was a mystery hotel.

Does anyone know of any deals like this that are out there? Is there a thread devoted to this subject? Appreciate yall's help.

  2. If you want quiet, relaxing ,great service , a very nice pool and hot tub that sits at the bar nachi cocom is your spot . Ive never been to paradise beach but I think for what you want your better off there

We were at Nachi last week and loved it. Just my wife & I were looking for a quiet, uncrowded beach. We had a nice lounge chair on the beach under a papala and the adjoing pool was very clean. Service was good as we always had a drink. The lunch they brought out was huge, I love to eat and I never made it to desert. I agree with other posts, I depends what you want in a beach, this was peaceful. NOTE: The taxi ride there cost $15 for up to 4 people. The return trip had seven of us and they charged $32. Ask ahead.

  3. Our first cruise together (our honeymoon) January 1995 out of San Juan to the Panama Canal on Celebrity's maiden ship Meridian.

I believe the Meridian sank while suffering a major engine fire while cruising for an Asian line in the late 1990's.

    Great thread...........

Yes, the MERIDIAN did catch fire during a cruise and sank. No fatalities. I sailed on her from New York to Bermuda in the early 90's. After sailing on RCL's Freedom class ships, you realize how far ships have come over the past 20 years.
