  1. Just got back today. On the way to Clocktower mall there is a hut next to where they sell cool gel candles and is front of former visitor center. Girl working there knew her stuff. Cigars including Cubans which you can bring back on board without smuggling were $8-$30 a piece not including the super high end. Not being an officiendo (read - are tiparillis any good?), bought two for gift. Hubby said I done good 😃. They also sell bermudian cigars. Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

  2. $15 buy in - 6 machines per round. Many rounds but you are in only one on way down. The way back they do finals from the highest per round scores. I think the winner gets $500 obc (could be wrong) but 2nd place and lower is negligible - I have about 10 T-shirt’s....having said that, it’s fun - torture your fam by making them come root you on. Make the best of it! They try very hard ❤️.

  3. I've stayed in an aft PH on Deck 10 many times. You can see the people below you on 9 if they are at the rail and about a foot of their deck space and if there are people at the rail on 8 you will see them as well. You can also look at most of the area on the balconies next to you if you peer around the divider. If you stand at the rail on 10 you can see a bit of 11 above but I don't think they can see more than the rail of your balcony. And we've never had a problem with noise at night.

  4. My vote is for TB (or short walk to St. Catherine's over the hill) if you want to explore or snorkle. Love looking at all the different types of fish using polarized sunglasses. Elbow if you want to swim/sun but if you need umbrellas, chairs and lunch, you're looking to spend about $150. TB has a small restaurant and you can get drinks/cocktails for reasonable price. Con: The beach at TB is small and dish shaped and get quite warm with not a lot of air circulation.

  5. Dex, hope the party went well. They grow up so damn fast!

Checked out the Divinia - she looks gorgeous. I'm sure you will all have a great trip.

Mr. Gamblinrose likes driving to port, not flying, so we won't be seeing the Escyape any time soon. And yes, the suite prices were not to my liking either, but I booked one nonetheless. So I will make it up to myself with our unlimited drink packages. :')

Happy sailing and when and if we venture out of home port I will definitely let you know.

Off to check out bow cam. She should be getting close to Bermuda pretty darn soon.

    Best!

  6. Isn't this later than normal for you or does your birthday fall into the week you are going? Anyhow, have a great trip and say hi to Mr. GamblinRose M.

Hey Dex! Always good to hear from you. Stellar memory. Next week is the bday. You ever gonna come back to the Dawn? Hope so. Til then, happy sailing.

I'll be packing while BrokenArrowhd and Biker@Sea are sailing, sunning and swizzling.

Bon Voyage! Hope you all have a wonderful time!!!

  7. Done 10728 several times to Bermuda, and will be in 10726 in 2 months (for my 50th). Aft is always quiet, you don't get the wind like forward (never a smoke stack issue) and the smell of cinnamon rolls wafting into your cabin in the morning is worth the price of admission.

  8. Now I know why I never saw you after the M&G - you were always at the wine bar whilst I was permanently affixed to my stool at Topsiders (casino by night). Too bad they did bait and switch on the wine menu for you.

One thing I don't know if anyone mentioned - on deck 9 along the inside corridor mid - there are several doors that open to public lounge that overlooks the atrium. I only popped in there but looked like a great retreat from the crowds.

Can't believe we've already been home a week. I'll say that even with all the bumps in the road we had, we still had a wonderful time and will be back next June.

  9. Hi GR -- see you are under 30 days

Hey Dex! Always good to hear from you! My fingers are crossed that they'll be able to get everything done in time. As long as the beer is cold, I'll be fine.

Looks like your next trip is to Pappete and Tahiti? Your kids will definitely be expanding their cultural horizons!

Pathubia - thanks for your info. And you never know, lightning could strike twice to get you back in the DOS. Thanks to you I may even give the upsell fairy a call...

  10. Hey stranger! Am very interested to hear the state of affairs as we're the first round out of the drydock starting gate with the Dawn in June. Sounds like I can expect to see "out of order" a lot. Can't wait to see your pix of Hawaii. Take care and hope you have a wonderful time!

  11. My first recommendation is if you are not traveling with children, I suggest early June or after Labor Day. Families with children dominate during the summer months.

Freestyle dining is just that - show up at one of the two dining rooms when you're hungry (and when they're open). The buffet is standard and they have a "24/7" (it's not really) venue and bar food and a free chinese restaurant. Several al a carte restaurants are also available to take your money. The Gatsby's champagne bar is popular place to gather before and after dinner to listen to the piano player. They have live music nightly in the atrium which you can view from cocktail tables on several decks. Spinnaker lounge has a dj and attracts the younger set (18-25). Karaoke was in Perly King's. When docked in Bermuda, they will have themed nights on the pool deck for singing and dancing (so you may want to bring your poodle skirt or bell bottoms but most people are in their shorts). Reggae band at the pool during the day.

Casino is small but they have a little bit of everything. Finger crossed it gets a good revamp.

Bermuda is very easy to navigate on your own but expensive unless you take public transportation. No car rentals but you can rent scooters which I strongly urge against. Rum Swizzles and scooters equal road rash. If you are looking for a low key cruise, this is it. If you need excitement 24/7, you may want to take the Epic out of NY to Bermuda. Obviously, this is based on my history. Subject to change after drydock.
