  1. The math is really simple ...

    1.25 + 15% tip = $1.44 per soda

    $5.75 per day / $1.44 per soda = 3.99 sodas per day.

If you drink more than four per day you're better off with the card. Personally, I can drink four with dinner, so it's a deal for me. Do I really care if I don't make the four a day though? Not really because it's simply more convenient to flash the card and get a soda than to have them run the card, add the tip and sign. To each his own though.

  2. This picture looks like Dunn River Falls, in Jamaica. Could it be? We were there about 4 years and had a blast climbing the falls. That was 1 of our favorite days. We climbed the falls, had lunch at a great resturant then went tubeing. It was a great time... Thanks again, KAT

That is Dunns River Falls. It was quite a challenge to get a shot without a million people in it. While we did have a great time climbing the falls, the one word that comes to mind is crowded.

The walk out through he gauntlet of shopkeepers on the other hand was not so fun.

That waterfall picture is so beautiful. I really like it. Anymore?

In the great big scheme of life, quintuple posting is not that big a deal. Don't worry about it ... here's a nice tranquil waterfall photo ...

  4. I've been in Aft cabins before on their balconies and although I am one of the rare few...I don't like them. I find that there tends to be extra noise back there from the ships motors or whatever, just creating more "water" noise then is to my taste.

I'm also one of the rare few. I prefer to be mid or forward. The noise and vibration in the aft bother me.

  5. Not to completely hijack this thread, but I was thinking of going a little lighter on the points ... more in the 70k to 80k range. I'm really thinking mostly of using it for weeks vacations and most of the places I'd like to go, it looked like that amount could get me a 2br for 5 people without borrowing. A few places would require either saving, borrowing or renting, but those were the exception not the rule. The cruise swap is just a bonus if we really wanted to, or for when the kids are gone.

At this point, with three kids in school, I don't think I could use up 100k+ points in a year.

  6. Ruth ... thanks for all the info. It is helpful. I have never seen points offered directly by RCI with no timeshare to back it up. I have actually heard things directly opposite to that ... that RCI doesn't sell points and that all points are backed by some week somewhere. I'll do a little more research on that.

I figure it's worth it to take the plunge on the resale market. If it flops I'm only out a couple thousand plus the maintenance fees every year. The points have to be good for something worth a few hundred dollars a year in maintenance fees. I'm just looking to find enough points with a low maintenance fee. You were the first person I ever bumped into that actually used the points for something other than another timeshare.
