I cruise single occupancy most of the time. I agree. It is a problem. However, I leave my chair only for the rest room. I wouldn't even try for the Windjammer.
Just my luck someone would grab my chair. I leave a book/magazine/towel, etc. Obviously you cannot leave valuables. I wouldn't even leave my hat. The rule breakers have made it bad for all of us.

Maybe that’s why the Hyatt people are still nice to us. We mostly stay on points and only spend a bit on evening snacks but we are always really nice to all the staff, even if something goes wrong, and never get rude with anyone. We’re apparently not on the naughty list and they always greet us like we’re the royal family and they couldn’t wait for us to get there. That’s all it takes.
All very interesting. Maybe that is why I got a huge upgrade in March when I stayed at a Hyatt hotel. I had no idea why the upgrade...from a regular room to a 3 room suite. Nice surprise.

No loss to me. I've never gone, and never would want to go.

One point I would like to make is that the crew works 24/7. They do not get weekends off. They do not get holidays off. And they do this with a smile....always. I appreciate that. Sadly, some don't care as they are only interested in "me".

First, I do love Cruise Critic and have found a lot of helpful information from the postings.
However, I have decided that a cruise line could never pay me enough to work in Guest Services.
It seems to me that if one tiny thing is not 100% perfect a "free" cruise should be given,
or compensation way over and above whatever the tiny issue was.
This compensation thing is being abused.

I have been on ships that have had mega loud banging noises because of weather. It's part of cruising. Not much they can do to control weather. A cruise is what you make of it.

As a retired Police Officer from there, I would never stay at a hotel in Newark proper and I have the ability to be armed.
Wow. Good to know. Thank you.

Thanks again. You are very knowledgeable on the area.

Ok. Good advice. Thank you.

Well you’re in luck. The Hilton Penn Station is very reasonable for your date - $119-143+ tax depending on whether you prepay or not. There is a sky bridge that connects the station to the hotel.
I am in luck. That is great. Thank you so much.😊

I do this every year and have tried many variations. When exactly would you be Cruising? IMO the easiest is to go to Newark Penn Station, stay at the Newark Penn Station Hilton, and take Uber to the port.
Your exact date is important. The last two years I have stayed overnight in Manhattan and Jersey City because the hotel prices were actually cheaper in the dead of winter. I also take PATH, light rail, and Uber/cab to the port. I return to Boston from Newark Penn Station. Lots of options - I try to vary my trip each year because I’ve done it so many times.
Thank you. My cruise is April 27, 2019. I plan to take Amtrak on the 26th.

I have never cruised out of NJ. I will be traveling on Amtrak from Boston. I think, but not sure, that Newark Penn Station would work best for me. Please advise of hotels near the port. Also transportation. I want to do something that works easily or me. Taxi or limo (car service?)
Thank you.

Will do. Thanks Bob.

I was on this cruise. Never heard one word about any illness/norovirus. I was impressed by the many hand washing stations. Also dined at Chops and did not see any health violations. It was a fantastic and amazing cruise.

Thanks Bob. I was hoping to hear from you.

Planning to cruise on Symphony OTS soon.
What is the average price of a drink on board. Such as Martini or glass of wine. (Price with tip included?)

Cruising is the best. Enjoy.
Have a safe and happy cruise.

Appreciate the pictures. Thank you.
Another question please....Do Pinnacle cruisers check in at the suite area too?
-
Thank you....that will be very helpful.
So much better than going in and not knowing which way to go.
Appreciate all the good advice.

Wow! Great info. Thank you so much.

When parking at the port, how far is the walk to the terminal. Should we drop off our luggage or park and roll it with us? (This is for a Symphony OTS cruise).

I have cruised many times, however, in March I will be taking my first cruise on a "large" ship. (SYmphony OTS). The largest I have been on is the Freedom Class. I have no idea what to expect, but once again Cruise Ceitic is answering a lot of my questions. Just want to say...thank you.
