We were in Manhattan last October, staying at the Crowne Plaza on W. 36th St, between 8th and 9th Ave. We read some excellent reviews for Mercato, on W. 39th St, just off 9th Ave. It is a small, rustic, Italian restaurant. We had their lasagna and pork belly one evening, and both dishes were excellent. Enjoyed it so much, we returned a few nights later, and again, our entrees were delicious. Look at the reviews on Yelp. I'm in complete agreement with the reviews that describe the warm ambiance and excellent quality of the dishes. Portions and prices were also reasonable. This may be more in line with what you were looking for; walking distance, Italian, less of a touristy feel.

Hey Roatanfans, I am down in your area and we are taking the same cruise as you this October. You say that you are using a private car to get to SF? Any recommendations? We having taken the train before but are looking at other alternatives. :D
I used a private transfer to go from Morgan Hill to Pier 35 for a cruise.
There were four of us, plus luggage, and we needed an SUV. We paid $200 plus
20% gratuity ($40). We used the same service going from SFO to Morgan
Hill. For a Town Car we paid $105 plus 20% gratuity ($21).

We were on the Queen Victoria during a Panama Canal transit from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale. On two occasions when we were dining in one of the alternative restaurants, as we were being seated, the head waiter invited us to remove our jackets if we so desired, as he felt the room was a little warm.

Hi there
I am glad you enjoyed your cruise! I read where you printed out the health form ahead of time. What a great idea! Where do you find that to print it out?
Thank You,
Heidi

There is an old thread "Hawaii Cheat Sheet", that has much of what you're looking for. It might be a good starting point for you.

Hello RPV - Thank you so much for your help here. We will be coming from Sunnyvale (El Camino and Old San Francisco Way) and going to Pier 2 in San Francisco for our cruise.
I cant even find a shuttle service that will do this trek.
