  1. I know this is a favorite here on these boards, but I was just kind of like, "meh" when I went there. It was okay, but nothing outstanding. I did not like the open air aspect, since when it is a hot day, the only break you get is a fan. No a/c.

I agree. I think it is very overrated. Although I did like the open air atmosphere. It was the food I thought was pretty bland. There are many great restaurants in Cozumel better than Pancho's. But that's just one man's opinion :)

  2. Paradise Beach is low key. The cab ride is inexpensive, it's very clean BUT they're not going to allow you to bring your own cooler.

We've been going there every time we cruise to Cozumel.

Paradise Beach is not low key at all. It's probably the busiest of all the beach clubs.

  3. This is an endless topic I see come up on these boards. I think it simply comes down to whether or not you want to do all-inclusive.

We did the all-inclusive at Mr Sanchos and loved it. We had all day to enjoy it so we were able to get our money's worth since we arrived at about 9:00. The beach at Mr sanchos is prettier in my opinion. I know it's only a short walk away, but I found there to be more sea grass at Paradise Beach so water was not as blue and Paradise Beach is more crowded with people. Maybe it was just the day I went to Mr Sanchos there may have been less people than usual, but that's what I experienced.

However, if you're going to only spend 3 hours at the beach because of other plans while in Coz, Paradise Beach is a great place to do it. The pool is great.

During our last stay in Cozumel a few weeks ago we had our dive company drop us off at Paradise Beach for our afternoons. It made for a perfect day with good diving in the morning and hanging out eating good food and drinking good drinks on the beach in the afternoon!

  4. We booked the private driver for next week.

Looking to do the east side of the island and hit the following. - Punta Morena / Rasta's / Playa Palancar / Paradise.

Anything that I should add to this?

Yes. El Mirador. It's along the way. You'll pass by it going to all those places.

  5. I booked with Eduardo probably 5, maybe 6 months before our trip to Cozumel. He told me Gerry would be our driver and he would be wearing a "gerry" name tag. Come to find out we did not have Gerry as we were told. Another driver named Leonardo showed up at our hotel. He said Gerry was doing another tour. Why was I told I would have Gerry as my driver? I find it doubtful someone booked before me for that day. This only bothered me for about a minute. However, when Eduardo emailed me to ask me to write a review I asked him why we did not have Gerry and he said Gerry was having back problems on that day....I got 2 different stories.

Anyway, I did not let this bother me at all and the day turned out to be a great one. Leonardo was more than gracious and we will probably book through Eduardo again because it seems all his drivers are very polite and speak good English.

Leonardo had a cooler and we stopped at a store to buy some drinks for the road.

All I really wanted was a designated driver to take my wife and I bar hopping on the east side of the island. We had stops at Bob Marley bar (aka rasta bar aka freedom in paradise), playa bonita, el mirador, and coconuts.

As I said Leonardo was very gracious taking pictures of us, opening the door for us, laughing at my jokes or singing, etc. I could not have asked for more.

The weather was not good at all that day so we cut it short to 4 hours even though I was planning on doing 5 or 6. The locals told us the weather was like that maybe 2-3x a year. Bad timing I guess

this was a great day and if you want to see the east side of the island while having some or many adult beverages it is a great option.

  6. Ok so those that have been to Mr Sanchos, are the water activites-water trampoline, etc- in the water, more on the AI side or pay-as-you-go side? Or just kind of in the middle? May sound petty, but if they are more on one side, I would choose the OTHER side to be on (whether it be the AI side or not) if it meant more quiet.

it's pretty much in the middle so don't let that sway you from one side or the other. I've only done the all-inclusive. AI side has the better pool

  7. We did the all-inclusive package at mr sanchos last year. It was one of the best days ever! We will be staying in Cozumel in April for some diving. I was hoping to possibly stop here after a day of diving which should be done around 1:30-2:00 at the latest so the all-inclusive package would not be worth it.

My question is: Are the drinks the same size if you do the pay as you go versus the all-inclusive?

I remember the drink prices on the menu being something like $8 or $9 and they came in little 8 oz cups (not worth it if you're paying for each one), but the drinks may have been bigger for the pay as you go customers.

  8. yeah, bring a lot of $5 bills with you bc just about everything is $5....taxi $5 pp, entrance to Doctor's cave $5 pp, beach chairs $5 per chair, umbrella $5. one of the bars nearby had waiters delivering drinks to us on the beach and they had a 2 for 1 special on their rum punch and can you guess how much that was...if you guessed $5 you're a winner

on a separate note: we found it necessary to rent an umbrella bc we wanted our beach chairs right at the water...front row seats :D no shade there....i must say it was a GREAT day
