  1. We were informed by the shoreside concierge of a “new” program for friends/family traveling with guests of the Penthouses and Royal Suites, which entails them to purchase the suite privilege program for 59 pp daily.  I’m trying to get more details,  but I understand it to include a lot of the perks that the suite guests enjoy, including Luminae and the retreat lounge.

Has anyone heard of this program or used it?

Just the Luminae access is worth it to me so I think we will purchase this for friends on our upcoming  cruise.  They are booked in a veranda cabin and it would be nice to enjoy Luminae and the retreat lounge with them.

Wim was totally missing in action when I was on the Equinox at the beginning of the month.  Never once saw him.  I'm used to suite managers like Maya who are everywhere and exceedingly personable.

I totally agree!  I think we were on the same sailing as you and agree that Wim was invisible.  We too are not used to that at all from other suite managers.  We saw him once all week, when he breezed through the retreat lounge, and breezed right back out.  Not so much as a smile, let alone a hello.

i will say that Alexandra said they read cruise critic and I know there was a comment on here about him being non existent.  Perhaps it was brought to his attention and he has stepped up his game?

George, all I'm saying is if you have never experienced the Outstanding Butler service from staying in a PH suite you would not understand. PH suites is all we've had while on Celebrity, before we both retired. The Butlers for those suites are more in tune to your needs and wants even without asking. Our butler's would take notice that my DH liked a morning ice coffee and when he noticed him going to get it each morning, he started bringing them to him without asking, he also noticed we would go and get cocktails everyday around the same time and bring them back to our suite to drink while getting ready for dinner. The butler took note and also would bring us those each day. We have been spoiled by the Fantastic service of PH suites, that we really notice the difference in the lower end suites.

On our last Eclipse cruise our Butler also sat us down to give us his sad story, on how he has way to many suites, and how he was spread to thin... Like I said he was useless, our room steward felt bad and he was doing the butler's job without even being asked. I mentioned in my survey that maybe him and the butler should switch place because he was outstanding and the other was useless. Oh but he came around the last day to check on us and to see if he could do anything for us, wanting his tip. The extra tip we gave to the steward.

Also that same cruise in Luminae, the Maitre d’ ignored almost everyone except the same few people, his assistant took great care of us each and every night, he never stopped by our table, in fact the first night he like our useless butler proceeded to tell us what time we need to come for dinner each night, otherwise will will have to wait. His assistant got his tip.

Conclusion, all butler's are different, and I solely believe the upper suites are no comparison to the lower end suites in the way you are treated and the customer service you recieve. We use the butler less than those that posted about sitting them down with a list of things they would like done or brought to them. A real Butler should pretty much know what you want without asking, or they should be asking you what they can do to make your trip more enjoyable. I know how most on here are cheerleaders for Celebrity, but I have my opinion and flame away if you don't like it! Everyone is different and has different wants and needs and I realize that the service can't be the same all over the ship, that is why those not in a suite hate that they feel excluded from what the suite class get.

This is my personal feeling.....I suspect you “feel” special when traveling in a PH and are perhaps happier in that category, and therefore exude happiness and the staff picks up on this and treats you in kind.  My gut tells me that you feel “lesser than” in anything other than a PH and your attitude might reflect this, and in turn, the staff picks up on this and treats you in kind.  Just a hunch.

We always sail in suites and have had the pleasure of the PH on more than one Occasion. The worst butler we ever had was in a PH suite.  The BEST butler we ever had was in our very first suite years ago, a Sky suite!  We have always had excellent service in Luminae, however, one sailing, the maitre d was not very good; ignored us, sat us in a different servers section every night and we never got a window seat.  Guess what?, we were in the Penthouse!  So I’m saying that all staff are different and most are outstanding.  I think attitude (yours/ours) goes along way in how we are treated.  Be courteous, pleasant and smile regardless of what category you book and i think you will be pleasantly surprised!

  4. Hi Paul, any idea who will be taking over for Nenad in Luminae?

Thanks! And thoroughly enjoyed tagging along with you on this sailing. We board Sunday and can't wait!

One correction to the above. The chocolate soufflé was PERFECTION. Last night at dinner Nened our MaitriD talked to us for quite some time. We ended up having him pull up a chair and we talked for a good hour after dinner. It was great hearing his history with the company, the way he chooses to manage and train his employees, etc etc. He told his staff they could all go and we just continued to talk, that’s how late we were there! He is fantastic and everyone who sails with him must get to know him. We’ve cruised with him before and his greatest asset is his ability to listen and understand an issue and correct it.

Now for those of you concerned about Murano after my recent story....guess who is helping out in Murano next cruise who has worked in Murano for years?? Nened! So if any of you have any concerns after my recent comments about our Murano dinner (which I believe was just a one off experience) you definitely have nothing to worry about now. If anything I would book more in Murano if I were you. I explained my concerns to him regarding our meal. He wanted to know EVERYTHING. He genuinely seemed to care.

After dinner we went to the Martini Bar to meet up with friends and then went up to Sky Lounge. There was a small crowd in sky lounge and we stayed there until 1:30 I believe and people were still there and the DJ was still playing.

  5. Very handsome Paul!

We are on the Dec 10th sailing and are thoroughly enjoying your daily updates/reviews. Thank you!

Cheers and Good Evening Everyone! Today is the second of three evening chic nights. These are always my favorite. Edward always puts up a little fight in getting dressed up.

At lunch today our waiter Tony confirmed that we have the flaming chocolate ball set aside from last. Rest assured I’ll post video and photos of that. If I can’t get video of it up here you’ll be able to find it on my Instagram. Instagram uploads have been fantastic this cruise but my video apps have been fighting any video over a minute for upload. Besides that the internet has been pretty good.

  6. After many Celebrity cruises, I truly don't recall ever having our statement delivered in an envelope. I recall it being left on the bed and also slipped under the door. I also recall that we often didn't receive a final statement delivered at all. Under the door or on the bed, it doesn't bother us in the least if the room steward or butler "snuck a peek", although I think they could care less and most likely just dropped it on the bed without even looking. Now, the envelope with a suggested additional tip...that would definitely bother us.

I imagine there are a LOT of people onboard that have access to your spending by a quick computer peek.

  7. I don't mean to be rude, but it is still over a month away and it could change again several more times. Worrying about one port of call is just silly, and expecting an OBC for something out of their control is even more silly. I can't believe everyone on the roll call is emailing Celebrity over this.

Agree! We are on this sailing and have not heard anything from Celebrity about the change to Nassau, however, we will go wherever the ship takes us and have an amazing time as usual, and we would never think to ask for OBC due to a port change, ESPECIALLY due to acts of nature.

  8. I must admit I was very saddened by so many posts yesterday of people "worried" and felling "inconvenienced" by possible changes in their itineraries due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. For Gods sake these poor people have lived through the terror of not one but TWO hurricanes back to back. They have lost their homes personal belongings businesses places of employment have relatives that have either perished or cannot be found are living without water power communication and many are left with the clothes on their backs and you are worried about your inconvenience of itinerary changes while cruising on a luxury ship???!!!!😡😡 We also have two cruises booked with stops in many of these beautiful islands but like others here are worried about them have already sent donations to them and can't wait until we can visit to help build their economy. Have a ❤️ And stop being so selfish.

    Agreed!<3

  9. Thank you all!

We have a deposit on the CS on the Dec 10th sailing and have a few days to cancel if needed.

We Have in fact been on the S class ships in Royal Suites and Celebrity Suites and like them very much. We do prefer the smaller ship and did love the penthouse. hubby is afraid this might be an issue with booking anything other than the PH moving forward.

One not so small difference is the cost. There is about a 5000 price difference between the CS and PH. Ouch!

I think we will stick with the CS on the Eclipse and have a wonderful cruise.

    Thanks again!

  10. I am a professional business owner who makes important decisions every day....I promise :), but I'm struggling with this simple one!

Trying to decide between an 11 day Eclipse cruise from Miami or 10 day Summit out of San Juan. The Eclipse would be in a Celebrity Suite and the Summit in the Penthouse.

The islands are not that important to us since we've been many times to most of them, but the Eclipse has 4 sea days vs 1 sea day on the Summit.

Summit is our favorite ship and either trip requires a flight from NY.

Hubby says go for the more sea days, but I kinda like the idea of the penthouse suite again...we had the penthouse this past summer to Bermuda and it was amazing!

I know, I know, tough decisions!

Honestly and on a serious note, I've truly been glued to the news about the horrific circumstances these folks are going through in Texas. This is my temp diversion.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

  11. Good morning! Easiest embarkation in 31 cruises! We pulled up to the curb and were boarding the ship within 15 minutes. The check in was warm and the Michael's club concierge came over right away and escorted us and a few couples on the ship and to the Michael's Club. The second we stepped on the ship we were given hand sanitizer before our card was even scanned. Once scanned we were then presented with a glass of champagne. The Michael's club waiter just came over, introduced himself and offered food or any complimentary drink. We opted for more champagne.

The rooms and suites on Celebrity are not open until 1:00 so you are welcome to explore the ship or hang at Michael's Club until Luminaie opens for lunch. That is the dedicated restaurant for top suites. The hotel director just came over and introduced herself to us. Thus far I am extremely impressed! The head concierge also just came over and introduced herself to us. Everyone is so warm and welcoming.

    Stay tuned.

Enjoy your cruise! We were in the penthouse suite on the Summit a few weeks ago and it was amazing! You mentioned the "head concierge", can you tell me who that is? I know that's a new position and I'm hoping it's Maja. Again, enjoy your cruise!

  12. I'm scratching my head on this one and maybe I'm missing something obvious??

We are looking at a cruise for December and are considering several suite categories. However, when I price the Celebrity suite, it tells me the Go Best package is available for 550 per person. Then, the Royal suite says it's 850 per person. Just for kicks, I tried the Sky suite and it 350 per person!

The perks are the same for all 3 categories and tips are the same, so why on earth is there different prices for different suites???

Wouldn't the drink package, tips, Internet and 150pp credit be the same regardless of suite class?

    Am I missing something?

Ok, I've gone back and tried the bookings again, and I DO put in my state and the rate reduces and then there is the extra cost for the Go Best. When I try again and leave my state off, the rate does not reduce but the Go Best is "complimentary". Thank you all for the input!

  13. You are actually paying for the "free" perks. The cost of perks is higher for Royal Suite than Celebrity Suite.

But they are not "free" . When I make the reservation, it asks me if I want to add them for 350pp for the Sky suite and 850pp for the royal suite.

    Premium be package

    150pp credit

    Free internet

    Free gratuities

The value of these perks are identical regardless of suite class, so shouldn't they "cost" the same?? Does a royal suite guest drink much more and use the Internet more...i don't think so. Just seems so dumb and odd.

  14. There are often multiple categories within a category: Cat. 2 D to A1 are all balcony cabins of the same interior size. Pricing varies by location, location, location. and cabin perks like A1 dines at Blu, has complimentary access to the Persian gardens, a few stateroom perks, etc. The GoBest perk would be the same except for the OBC which varies by category of cabin booked; Ocean View $100 up to Balcony $300, Suites +$. Read the fine print. Get a good agent to help you navigate this often confusing issue. There are more Sky suites, than Penthouse suites on board most ships; availability is key. If you can get a 7 night cruise for $350 a person including the port fees and taxes, RUN don't walk and book it.

Sorry, maybe wasn't clear. The 350pp is for the Go Best package only...in addition to the cost of the suite. My issue is with the go best package costing 350pp for a Sky suite and up to 850pp for a royal suite. Shouldn't the package price be the same (same exact perks) regardless of which suite you book?

  16. As stated above, Captain Leo is the other Captain for the Summit. He has been doing this for years. However, there are some sailings that he can not. It may be because of weather, too many boats, or time constraints. Both captains do it if they can. If not, well you can still capture a glimpse from the back of the ship (I think).

I don't think Capt Leo has been Capt of the Summit for awhile. The two recent captains are Capt Kate and Capt Alex.
