With my spotty memory....I think the prices only showed up when excursions were actually available for booking at 120 days prior.  We will miss sailing with you and your wonderful spouse HunE!  Hopefully we can sail along with you "in absentia" through your posts!  🙂

Thank you, Mysty!  We will miss you, too!  We hope to see you again some time. Good luck with your move.

  2. Changing the subject...  I know that shore excursions for the world cruise won't be available to book until 120 days before sailing, but I thought that in prior years pricing was available a month or so in advance.  I checked both silversea.com and mysilversea and neither are showing prices.  Do any past world cruisers remember when pricing was available in prior years?

Wonderful turnout for the Meet & Mingle!   Thanks all for turning out!  Really enjoyed meeting everyone and putting faces to names!

Mysty, DCCruiser and I enjoyed meeting everyone, as well. So many wonderful people. Hope to see you and other CCers again soon.

Be grateful that you're not since that could mean Tilbury - a 'normal' cruise terminal but surrounded by an awful lot of nothing you might be interested in.

Absolutely, since we have a full day in London to explore before we disembark.  The first time we left on a cruise from "London" the ship was docked in Dover!

Count down has begun in earnest for the launch of this big adventure.  Folks will be busy with last minute preparations and cramming in a celebration of the New Year!  Best wishes to all for safe travels and an exciting start to a healthy and joyful New Year!  Happy 2019!

Happy New Year to you and Myster, as well.  Wishing you a safe and enjoyable journey to San Francisco.

  6. Thanks, Mysty, for the information on the Greenwich pier.  I just assumed that we would dock at a normal cruise terminal to disembark.  I will need to keep it in mind when packing to return home, since I will need to maneuver my carryon on and off the tender.  Luckily, I have almost five months to work it out.  :classic_biggrin:

I think I hear the Hallelujah Chorus HunE!  Great news on the luggage departure and on the Meet & Mingle!  We leave on January 4.  Really hoping our weather cooperates!  I keep checking the long range forecast and it changes every day.  Mind you, they can't even accurately predict tomorrow's weather so beyond that is a crap shoot!

kI know what you mean.  My fingers are crossed for you, Mysty.  It is always touch and go this time of year.  It is good that you are leaving a day early.

We are leaving home on January 2nd and are spending the night before our flight at the airport.  We did that last year and were so glad.  We woke up on the day of our flight to lots of snow.  We would not have made it to the airport otherwise.  We were very fortunate as our flight was one of the last ones to be able to take off that day.  Right now, the forecast looks clear, so I am hopeful that we won't have any delays...

10 days and counting down to sail away! And there are now 12 people registered for the Meet & Mingle for the March 18th segment!  Hurrah!

Yeah - and we leave home in less than a week.

Thank you, Mysty for the Meet and Mingle reminder.  I have now registered my husband and I.

BTW, Fedex just left with our four suitcases!

We are now at 12 days and counting down to sail away.  I want to thank all the lovely folks who chimed in here to make this a real community place.  I want to encourage all to feel comfortable posting thoughts, pictures, experiences, opinions and all the bits and bobs that will make this feel like a home away from home as the journey commences!

Hi, Mysty - sorry I missed your holiday greetings.  I was busy with preparations and then "making merry" as Bob Cratchit would say.  I hope you and Myster had a nice Christmas.  I want to thank you for starting this thread and keeping it going.  It has added to my excitement for the trip and I am looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the kind folks who have posted here.  Thank you also for remembering my deadline - the suitcases are by the door and all that remains is to affix the Fedex tags.  I am ready.

By any chance did you get any kind of acknowledgement if you indicated that you were interested in the Sydney event?  We haven't heard anything more.  Nothing that said our intention to attend was noted.

No, we didn't get a anything either.  My guess is that they just wanted to get a general idea of the number of seats that they needed to reserve and that they will ask us to confirm our interest sometime after we board.  We can always check with the shore excursion staff to make sure our names are on the list.

The bags have left the building!  🙂  Smooth sendoff.

    All my bags are packed,
    I'm ready to go........
(Leaving on a Jet Plane by John Denver)

So happy for you, Mysty!  Love, love, love the music, especially Leaving on a Jet Plane.  My husband jokes that I am not allowed to hum or sing the opening lyrics to that song while I am getting ready for a trip until I am actually packed.  He realizes I need all the motivation I can get!

We have lift off!  TA got the confirmation number from Mr. Sansone.  I called FedEx and they confirmed pick up scheduled for tomorrow between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.  Do I hear the Hallelujah Chorus?  🙂  Another of my nerves has stopped fraying.

Hooray, Mysty!  So glad things are falling into place.  We are getting more and more excited with only about 2 weeks left until we leave.

Great news HunE!  After a weekend off from packing I need to get energized to finish it!  Pick up on Thursday.  EEEEEK!

Good luck, Mysty!  We are fortunate because our pick up isn’t until the 27th. I am going to try to finish packing this week so that I can relax and enjoy Christmas.  I love to travel, but I hate to pack.

Interesting email from Silversea this evening.  A new World Cruise event added.  A "yes please" from us.  🙂

Yes!  A very nice surprise.  We responded "yes" as well.

Still no luggage shipping docs, but we still have plenty of time as our cases are not scheduled for pickup until December 27th.  My DH wrote to Frank, but I agree that he is probably pretty frazzled right now.  Hopefully they will show up by the end of next week.

So sorry to hear that HunE!  Fingers crossed for delivery today.  Mr. Sansone is probably up to his nethers in alligators right about now!

Our white box is scheduled to be couriered to us on Monday with a Tuesday delivery.  If I may ask HunE, is the presentation comparable to what was delivered for the 2016?  My curiosity will probably harm me at some point but until then...... 🙂 Thank you!

The contents are almost the same, but as I recall, this year the box is much bigger.  Of course, this is coming from someone who has trouble remembering what she ate for dinner last night, so don't hold me to it!

Further late breaking news....the paperwork for the ship ahead luggage was just delivered by FedEx!  Another nerve has been saved from further fraying!  Best wishes for all who are awaiting deliveries!

That is wonderful news - so glad you received your paperwork.  I will check the porch later today as our FedEx deliveries usually come around 5.

HunEBear, were the two Travel Journals (from silver and white boxes) the same?  It is a bit of a head-scratcher.  I did notice that the Documents on MySilversea also had two Travel Journals available for download.  My quick perusal did not reveal any differences between the two.

Yes, Mysty.  They appear to be the same except for the cover.  The first says "Travel Journal" and the second, "Tales of Tales".  I am still not sure why we received two sets of everything.

I've checked with our TA this morning and got the slightly different answer - it is still in Europe! I like Joe's answer better!  As we leave home in two weeks to start or journey it will go down to the wire for us.  At least there is the potential to sort out luggage labels etc at the Four Seasons the night before the cruise.

Hi, Fellow Cruisers!  We received our box (white, not silver) on Friday with luggage tags and the Travel Journal inside.  What is odd, is that we also received a silver box with luggage tags and travel journal a few weeks ago.  I guess Silversea must have figured out that I always overpack!  Anyway, hopefully your boxes will not be far behind if they haven't arrived already.

Yes, the Whisper will go to drydock December 8 and be in Ft. Lauderdale December 20.  She will be beautifully renovated and the holiday cruise will be wonderful.  Can't wait to get aboard!!

SS cancelled the scheduled cruise and the Whisper is now headed to Freeport where she will enter drydock on 11/30.  SS previously reported that they extended the drydock to 3 weeks to make further enhancements (for one, they are adding zodiacs and a crane for the upcoming visit to Antarctica during the 2020 WC).

  20. Mysty - No need to apologize!  I had the same concern.  I did some research a few weeks ago and I found a footnote somewhere on the Silversea website that confirmed that all full World Cruisers will get premium internet.  On last year's cruise, I was able to use the ship's internet to make Wifi calls from my phone.  I wanted to make sure that would still be the case now that Silversea has gone to a two-tier internet offering.  Now back to figuring out what to pack!
