There are "transportation services" that have them, and there's a new app that let’s you book various vehicles, and it looks like their fare is based on minimum of 2 people. It wouldn't let me get quotes to many destinations without registering.

There's also a company specializing in transportation for people with mobility issues, and he has an suv. It Could Be Worse is the name of the company. Someone posted a YouTube video of their tour with him.

Not the suv taxis I've seen at Havensight. I think they're what most people consider mid size.

Are there companies that have these that you can reserve in advance

Or maybe we just get off ship at 930 or 10 and examine what's available

I'm glad you're asking all these details in advance. Not enough visitors do, and without advance planning, some needs may not be easily accommodated.

There are SUV taxis, but there may not be any available when you're at the dock since there aren't usually many in that area.

For right now, Best Taxi Association has the contract to pick up at Havensight, but their phone number didn't work a few months ago, so I don't know how anyone can contact to reserve a particular vehicle.

There is a Best Taxi Association dispatcher a short walk from the ships. If the dispatcher can't provide you with a SUV, you can call VI Taxi Association dispatch and request an SUV. You may have to meet them outside the gate, though, because of Best Taxi.

VI Taxi dispatch number is 340 774 7457.

It's all about the step into vehicle.

Some suvs are as high as vans

  4. It's been 10 years since we visited St thomas, and looking at different scenic tours, almost all if them seem to be in the open air tram type of vehicles that take 2 steps to get into.

My DW has issues with her knees that sometimes cause her to have issues getting on those, even with assistance.

Was wondering if all the taxis that give island tours at the cruise port are that type,or if any are regular cars(not vans,as those steps are higher)

    Thank you

Yes, they are reliable. The fares are posted at the dock, and a 2 hour group tour is one the rate sheet. The tours are mostly stops at scenic lookouts with narration. Some tours sold online offer tours with beach stop. All offer return to ship.

Just one other question about taxis.

Due to mobility issues, we cannot walk the steps to go on the skyride, but I have heard, that at the port, you can get a taxi to take you up there.

What is the taxi situation for returning to port

    Thank you

  7. Later this year,we will visit St thomas on the carnival venezia, and we're wondering how reliable it is,not to book in advance and just book an island tour when we get off ship.

I saw a photo saying the taxi rate for that is 38 pp

Hi, anybody start looking at shore ex ?

There will be a few beach days

Have been to all ports multiple times

Never been to ambir cove, we ( 2 people ) are looking for a city tour here

    Before smaller groups, but like

    Something like

    Top 10 Puerto Plata

    Or

    Mountain view and city tour

     Any takers ?

any idea of private tour operators !

We booked in Amber Cove,Monkeyland and Dominican flavors.

Undecided between 5 different ones in Grand Turk.

Thinking of private operator in st thomas

If you take a taxi from Havensight, they should charge you the minimum which is $6 per person. There are usually taxis coming and going throughout the day so it shouldn't be a problem returning to Havensight. Of course if your ship docks at Crown Bay the taxi will probably charge you more.

I think it's flat from taxi parking lot to the restaurant, but I'll have to confirm. I usually take the tram, but years ago I was in a vehicle and we drove up.

We don't mind inclines,or even stoop like stairs, but watched videos of the tram terminal, and my wife can't do those stairs

  10. I may have asked this before,but I cannot find it,or maybe it's a senior moment thinking I did.

We will be in Amber Cove, later this year, and the carnival excursion Monkeyland and Puerta Plata city tour sounded interesting, but as 2 seniors with arthritis, we had some concerns about how much walking there is in the city tour part.

Reading reviews,I see some say"not that much walking "Of course,we have no idea how old the reviewer is, and not that much is different if your 40,from if your 70.

So,if anyone has been on the tour, thanks in advance

    Good morning

We are a family of 14 joining

    11- NJ

    2-SC

We are all very excited already. It may seem early to be getting ready, however there is a lot of planning with a large group. We already set up a slot pull for Nov 12 and Nov 13 on the  private Facebook group carnival Venezia November 4-15 2024. There is also a lot of other events going on on that page including another slot pull on the 5th.

    This sounds familiar

Am I having a deja vu experience or are you on the fb group for this cruise

I don't like spicy chicken and love that slightly sweet teriyaki flavor of traditional hibachi chicken, so I asked for it that way on the Venezia in Sept. All 4 times (yes we ate there 4 times in 13 days) it was perfect! No idea what the spicy chicken tastes like.

Tip- lunch is less expensive than dinner - same menu, same portions. Enjoy!!

Those pictures are making me hungry

It’s the same as at any other hibachi joint; my wife always gets the chicken dish and carnivals was the same…

    OK that's good to know.

So just called something different to confuse an old man lol

Wish I could help, but I’ve never had the chicken. I’ve only have the lobster or lobster/steak combo. Apologies.

    That's ok

    I do like steak,shrimp,and lobster,so I would be OK

But my wife only steak and chicken

  15. This may seem like a weird taste preference question, but here goes.

We have not sailed Carnival in years, but will in 2024.

We have been to many Hibachi restaurants over the years,on land, and on Norwegian cruises.

In all of them, any combos that include chicken, are like a teriyaki type flavor.

On Carnival menu,it says spiced grilled chicken.

So,as a person, who not only loves the usual chicken he gets at hibachi, but she away from spicier foods,I wonder about the difference, or is it the same, but just called something different.

    Thank you
