  1. We have travelled 5 or 6 times now from Washington services. We always stay in the Travelodge the night before (make sure you book southbound one) as 5.30 am start. Never had a problem with plenty of comfort stops etc. if you book the Travelodge best to ask for ground floor as no lift to first floor and across the motorway is a nice Italian restaurant for a nice meal.

  2. In your position I would be thinking "grrrrrr"

Can’t let it spoil our holiday, we’ve worked too hard for that. Leaves a sour taste but can always go back to P&O next year at least our loyalty is valued more there with on board discounts and free upgrades.

  3. We had a similar problem, we booked months ago as the local Thomson travel shop advised the cruise was filling up quick when in actual fact it wasn’t and price drops were in place all the time. Got no problem normally with price drops but to be misled by a Thomson travel shop is disgusting. Customer service just sent a standard copy and paste email without looking into the real problem. We asked for prices to upgrade cabins and were quoted prices much higher than new bookings.

  4. Paid final balance yesterday and enquired about price for upgrade from inside to outside and quoted £150. For new bookings yesterday the cruise was £88 each cheaper with upgrade for £128. Customer services was a total waste of time. As I said before I understand price drops and normally wouldn’t complain but to be misled by the Thomson travel agent saying cruise selling well so need to book early when this is not the case is disgusting. This is not our first cruise with the company but obviously no loyalty at all.

  5. Really unhappy about the pricing this time. On the advice of a Thomson travel agent we booked our cruise ages ago as they said the cabins were selling quickly however there have been numerous price drops since and the cruise is considerably cheaper now for Discovery on August 11th. We have priced upgrades and have been quoted higher prices than anyone making new bookings. We do understand that prices can go down but when a Thomson travel agent misleads you when there are still loads of cabins left it is really frustrating. At least when we book with P&O our loyalty is usually rewarded with an upgrade and discount on our on board account.

  6. Really don't know which way we prefer. We always leave the tips on for easiness but still feel that we would rather tip individuals who have provided the service. We have already prepaid for our Allure of the seas cruise in May and this was £131 for a 7 night cruise which makes the £6 a day seem very cheap. We have also sailed with Thomson where everything is included in the cruise fare and the service has always been superb. If we had to make a choice I would probably say go the Thomson way and make everyone the same and stop the volatile threads on every forum.
