I'll need to decide if I want to complete the booking with these perks.  It was cheaper with the previous KSF promo but that has sailed.  Although we are not big drinkers, this still seems pretty good.  Will I be able to pass drinks (non-alcohol :D) to my kids with this offer? We never had drink packages before so I'm not sure how strict cruise liners are with forcing the rule.

Re: Premium Beverage Pkg that came with the 4 perks...is the gratuity also included?  If I order a drink on the ship with this package, will they tag on 15% or 20% gratuity?

The price screen on the left is for no perks & non-refundable deposit.  The price screen on the right includes 2 perks and the deposit is refundable.  Unfortunately, Celebrity site does not show price with perks & non-refundable deposit.  You have to call in and talk to a TA to get price for that combination.

The price difference is about $100 pp at the moment. We are a party of 4. I'm still debating on driving to port or flying. If I decide to fly to port, it seems a better idea to go with EWR on the return flight.

I'm looking to make flight arrangements after disembarkation from the Quantum on Sat. March 17th. Looking at the flights, flying home to Canada out of LGA will save me a bit of money instead of flying out of EWR. Will it be safe to book a 12:25PM flight out of LGA?

Google maps estimates the travel time from Bayonne to LGA at about an hour.

Is that correct? The fare is less than half going from port to MSY airport.

I have never used Uber before. It looks like it requires data on your smart phone. I believe there is free wifi at MSY airport so I can use it to call for an Uber ride. I have a few more questions I hope someone can help me out with.

1. Once you request the ride on the app, do you have to leave the app running (draining data) until you arrive at your destination?

2. Do you pay at the beginning or at the end, when you reach your destination?

3. If I need to leave the app running, will it drain a lot of data during the ride from the airport to the FQ (about 25-30 mins). My cost is about $9 for each 50MB.

I'm trying to minimize my data roaming as much as possible.

Try to Google "NCL Getaway 5738". It's an accessible cabin, but not sure if it's "Family" accessible that will hold up to 5.

I sailed the Escape on Aug. 20th. I called 3-4 days before sailing and NCL was able to move me from an ocean view to a balcony without losing any of my original perks & excursion reservations. NCL just changed my stateroom number.

Were you guys the young couple auditioned for the newlywed game? It's interesting to hear that you weren't crazy about the food either. Did you hear us talking to the man next to us at lunch that day about the food? He was telling us that the food on NCL has been getting much better over the past couple of years since Norwegian purchased Oceania and Regent.

 

Also, I would love to hear what someone recently off of the Breakaway thought of the food.

LOL...no, we are way pass the newlywed stage haha. We were finishing up when you guys were having your apps. Actually I think I was alone on the table with 4 or 5 empty plates in front of me after my wife left the table early to take the kids to use the bathroom.

We were on the Dawn last August to Bermuda, and I thought the food was about the same but less salty. We had friends who sailed the Escape this past March and they said the buffet food was better than what they had on the RCL Oasis/Allure. I guess it's really subjective when it comes down to food preference. I remember a waiter in Manhattan said the menu was changed a few weeks before our sailing--I guess for the worse, IMO.

I only gained 4 lbs after this cruise. I remember reading somewhere the average is about 7 lbs, so this goes to show how much I enjoyed the food on the Escape :D

I was on the Escape Aug. 20-28 sailing and watched the final hand of the Texas Hold'em tourney. The took $1170, and the runner up took $700 some odd dollar. I wasn't there from the start so I couldn't tell you the number of buy ins and rebuys.

We were on the same cruise as you. We also had lunch at Taste on embarkation day. I think you two were sitting on a table right next to us.

We also took The Baths excursion through NCL, and felt the tour way too short. It was a 4.5 hr tour, but we really didn't have much time to spend on the beach after we deduct time for the ferry rides, the trek to the The Baths, and the walk back to the meeting point. It was a very nice place to visit but wished we had another hour or so to spend on the beach.

The food was also the low for us on this cruise. We have been sailing with NCL since our 2007 Hawaii cruise, and I must say the food has been on a decline ever since, in terms of quality and selection (MDRs & buffets--we have never dined in specialty restaurants). I really miss my rack of lamb, sea scallops, lobster tails, and a nice juicy ribeye steak in the MDR :(

Did anyone else find the food on this cruise over seasoned with salt? I usually like my food well seasoned with salt, but find most of the dishes I had on this ship were too salty for my liking. The notable items were the coconut crusted tilapia & asian noodle in the buffet, and the steak diane sauce in the MDR. The coconut tilapia was so salty to a point of being bitter...it was not edible.

We cancelled a couple excursions on our last cruise. It went back to our OBC. I didn't want to take a chance so I took the 3% hit and withdrew it at the casino.

I remember your child was looking up at me while we were under the shelter in the rain, but I stopped to chat with the couple on The Majesty of the Seas who were interested in The Norwegian Escape. I wish you would have said "Hello!" I would have loved to have spoken with you.

I noticed you were busy chatting with another couple so I didn't want to interrupt your conversation. Besides I wasn't sure if it was you despite my kid telling me otherwise haha.

Was on the Escape Aug 20 - 28. I only saw soccer on the entire 8 days. One of comedian even joked about it.

I think there is only 3 channels to watch in your stateroom--movie, and two news channels.

I was on the same cruise with my family but we never witnessed any of these events on the ship. I don't know how we managed to missed out on these Tinkles haha.

I only heard about the medical emergency in Tortola from talking with another passenger during breakfast the next morning.

JW, we were actually standing right in front of you while we waited out the rain in Nassau. It was my kid who recognized you from a video we watched before we left home. I couldn't recognize you cuz you looks much thinner in person 😀

I'm debating about booking teppanyaki dinner with my kids. If NCL issues OBC for the kids or cancellation of the reservation, would we get a refund of the OBC if we don't spend it all on the ship? Or is it one of those OBC where you'll lose it if you don't spend it? Thanks

I want to make it clear we never asked for an accessible cabin. At the time of booking I didn't want to pay the extra for a balcony but want to book an ocean view to take advantage of the perk. This was the last ocean view cabin that will accommodate 4 so NCL assigned it to us but made it clear that they can move us should they need the cabin back for passengers needing the access. We are fine with that.

I called a few days ago about some excursions and NCL offered to move us to a balcony cabin free of charge. They are not request the accessible cabin back.

Given the choice, would you choose a balcony or accessible ocean view cabin? From my understanding the accessible cabin will be much larger compared to a regular balcony cabin. The balcony will be on higher decks, likely 10 and above, while the ocean view will be on a lower deck. They will cost about same. Take the extra space or a balcony?

Occupants: 2 adults & 2 kids
