  1. Wine-wine-wine I also am able to tolerate the breads etc better in Europe. The last time I traveled my doctor pointed that out. Will certainly look for 00 Flour CDN as sometimes the almond flour just doesn't do the job. Thanks to everyone for this topic. It has been very helpful.

  2. I also don't eat gluten if I can help it (just sensitive not Celiac's). Wondering what you mean by advance notice on the noodles AroundWithMAP Travels? Do you have to call ahead of time (or notify them at lunch what you will need for dinner) or do you just have be prepared to wait a few minutes for the order at your table?

  3. Wondering how a preregistered credit card is used when purchasing excursions. When you request an excursion and you go to your cart to pay, will all of the payment fields be filled in for you if your card is already entered into the system? I know some excursions are so popular that you must sign up and pay immediately or you will lose the space. If preregistration helps one be faster, I'm willing to use a CC that gives me no points on the purchases but at least Viking accepts. (Wish they would go ahead and find a way to allow MC to be preregistered.).

  4. Realize during times that the laundry facilities are busy, people generally don't immediately take out someone's laundry when the machine stops, but may do so it is sitting there for more than a few minutes. The machines show how much time they will take so it is easy to make sure you are back in time to retrieve it.

  5. Just starting to consider which excursions we would like to go on. Out of the port of Djúpivogur we are looking at the Rural East Iceland (we will have already visited the Ice Lagoon's on our own the week before). It includes an outlet glacier of Vatnajokull and an equestrian center. Anyone have any experience with this excursion? Since many of the excursions are very expensive, want to make sure it is a worthwhile one. Any info would be appreciated as well as suggestions/thoughts on any other excursions out of this port.

  6. Florida girl here also. This will feel cold to us. Thanks for letting me know people were docking. I think we will go ahead and book the Westtrours Vigur Island tour as it is just about 1/2 the cost of previous Viking excursions to the same place. The tour gets back to the dock at 4 so we should make the boarding time just fine.

Apparently there were many cruises that had to cancel last year. Some of the ship  names I heard were definitely on the larger side.

  7. Have been looking at the Northern European boards and noticed difficulties with docking in Isafjordur last year by some cruise lines. They apparently have not finished all of the work that allows the larger ships to come in and dock. This led to cancellations of this port by many of the lines. Did Viking experience any problems with this port in 2023?

  8. Just looked at that website for Vigur (as we are going this summer also) and they only run the excursion from 1 to 4. Since the ship leaves the port at 5, is it possible to take this private option? Does anyone know if their dock is located close to where a cruise ship would dock?

  9. Last year I made a final payment for a cruise for this year. My passport was to expire after I had made final payment but before the start of the cruise. Viking had no problems taking my final payment without my passenger information being complete. I received notifications that I needed to finish completing passenger information up until the time I was able to finally enter in my new passport information. I think any travel company (cruise or air) will take payment without this information being up to date as it is the responsibility of the passenger to make sure they have valid documents prior to travel. Of course you should check with Guest Services to make sure how this applies to you.
