  1.

Too bad about the Club Class dining eliminating the table side preparation. We had taken advantage of that on previous cruises and just loved it. We have another sailing in a suite booked on the Grand next year and will be disappointed if they've cut back on that experience. It is the reason we booked a suite.

Hi Cruise Raider, we were in Club Class on this sailing. The maître d' prepared something every night we were there; mostly pastas but one night we had crepe suzettes. We went to the Crown Grill a couple of nights so don't know about those. Shirley

  2. How do you price w&w/o E4? We usually book without since we rarely spend over $50 PD for two. We would rather carry some good wine on board and pay corkage.

If you pay the corkage, are you allowed to bring the wine into the lounges, or just the restaurants? Thanks, Shirley

  3. There are many times I transfer my on board booking to a different ship and sail date.

Does anyone know if, after you transfer the booking to your TA within the 60-day window, can you have the TA transfer that booking to another ship and sail date like you can if you leave the booking with Celebrity?

  4. For now, I believe this new menu is just being tested on the Ruby.

I hope that they stay with these menus and that they are available on the Grand in September when we sail next with Princess. We have been very disappointed with the food choices and quality on Princess on our last 2 cruises (except for the Crown Grill and Alfredo's Pizza which were both excellent).

  5. Our Hawaii RT was years ago on Summit

We had a great Hawaii Ambassador on Board who held cultural events daily.. lectures, .lei making, food, hula etc.. Very knowlegeable and informative..Sea days filled with activity or just relax

Hope you have something similar for your cruise...

Curious about the lectures -- was there a variety of topics or all having to do with Hawaiian culture, etc.?

  6. Last year we were going on a family cruise to the Panama Canal and my mother in law was supposed to share a cabin with my sister in law. MIL hurt her back a few days before the cruise and just 4 days before embarkation we were able to cancel her and add SIL's friend. I was surprised. There was a charge of $150 - not sure if the amount varies based on timing of cancellation / change? Also the replacement person did not get the OBC that was part of the original offer but SIL still got it.

That seems very high. Was this booking thru a Travel Agent or direct with Princess?

  7. Hi everyone,

Well, I gave all of your helpful advice and inputs lots of consideration and even thought of few different scenarios, but in the end, not being a big risk taker, I just called American and we are now booked on the 12:50 out of LAX, no additional charges. I did ask if they would give us preferred seats due to the inconvenience but they declined.

Thanks for all your help. Shirley

  8. Thanks so much for all of your replies. I received great information that will be very helpful. Asking American to change my flight isn't a good option because they only have one more flight that day -- at 7 PM and I'm hoping to avoid going to LAX.

Thanks again everyone -- don't know what I do without Cruise Critic! Shirley

  9. I don't want to hijack this excellent thread other than to report that they were a REAL jazz band. They performed one night while we were in port.

This band was fabulous and, yes, they were a real New Orleans jazz band. Except for this one night, Celebrity did not provide any real jazz entertainment and we were very disappointed in the entertainment as we had expectations of hearing jazz throughout the entire cruise.

  10. Just got a little concerned when I read on the Celebrity boards that some cruisers were bumped from their Celebrity cruise. My son and daughter-in-law are joining us on a Princess cruise later this year but we booked their cruise months after we booked our cruise so they have a Guarantee rather than cabin assigned.

So my question is: Should I be concerned that they may get bumped? Thanks, Shirley
