I need a catamaran recommendation...both Random Wind and Golden Eagle are unavailable. Help!
-
hello---what is the condition of the shopping areas? What about the butterfly farm, and other local attractions? Me, DW, 2 kids--need something to do after a half day catamaran, so we usually walk around the shopping areas..
Thanks
-
Hello--trying to decide if this is worth it. has anyone done this yet on the Seaside? What are the facilites like? What is included--sauna? thassalotherapy pool? etc?
Thanks!

I cannot wait until the reviews come out from the Seaside first batch of cruises.....this could literally make or break my holiday season!!! I know this isn't a question but I had to share my thoughts somewhere!
-
Hello all---does anyone know what pier/etc MSC will have at Miami for the Seaside? Also, question 2, whom are the closest car rental companies to that particular pier?
Thanks

Just to be on a cruise.
But the two things for us are walking on the promenade deck, sitting on the baloney watching the wake.
But also on sea days going up top for the before breakfast walk, and seeing only ocean all around you..
one morning is was a bit windy 50+ knots across the deck, it made you feel alive.
Cheers Don
I sat on a baloney once...i'll never do it again. Very slimy and I had dogs chasing me for hours...

A quick clean-up and change...and down to the Panorama Main Dining room for dinner.
Again... great friendly service...quick and accurate... food was mediocre and menu choices were strange.
I have come to the conclusion that the MDR problem with food is that the dishes (recipes) are too ambitious for mass catering.....they would be better served with simpler dishes that can be satisfactorily served in volume.
We stopped in the Sky lounge for an after dinner drink.... by far the prettiest lounge on the ship.
The most important mission we had tonite was to watch a soccer game with our team, Real Madrid.
I was amazed that the Sports Bar in the Sportsplex has NO screens... no games to watch there. ...Huh?
Thankfully, the place to watch was the Brass Anchor Pub..
Great seats at the bar and we thoroughly enjoyed watching it there.
That also gave us great seats to enjoy the Promenade party after the game...from a sane vantage point.
Great review. I am interested in the comment about the dishes being "ambitious". Can you give me an example or two? Thanks!

Sick of reading pages and pages of tosh about size of rooms and balconies. Im not forcing anyone to read it or add to it. It was that final qoute about the size of a balcony on divina (who cares).

100% agree---I used to be subscribed to that thread...but sheesh.....kept getting notifications like "I thought the balcony would be 11.9 by 2.7 feet, and now my confirmation says 11.8 by 2.6"....

We also currently live in landlocked Missouri, in a very small town with few dining choices. So one of the best parts of being on a cruise for us is the interesting and different items available to eat! Of course, any kind of seafood is high on our list, but we also enjoy chilled soups, exotic fruits, and just generally any foods we can't get at home.

love the chilled soups....my DW never makes strawberry bisque at home!

Does anyone know if any Executives read these boards? just out of curiosity even? I'm curious if MSC people actually see all the complaints about their website and are doing anything to fix it.

I can't wait to get mo passport stamped and change my money to Alaskan Money!

We were on RCL Radiance of the Sea and first night met the other couple assigned to our table. She was completely drunk and didn't wear her dentures to dinner and he was also inebriated and asked us to read the menu to them because he forgot his glasses. They were in their late 40's, he was an attorney. We definitely found the matre'd and requested a new table for the remainder of the cruise!:o
My wife is so embarrassing...this explains why you switched from my table.

Hello all---curious if anyone is booking a group block for a hotel the night before. Maybe with transportation?
-
I think the only thing you can say for sure is that most will be risk takers......
-
May is the same...I booked for me, DW, DS and DD---4 total. Cruise was $1800 USD. Just checked and now it is $2600 USD. I guess the ship is selling out, although there does seem to be lots of rooms left.

This thread is proof that CC members truly will know everything about a ship.
-
Yes I know about the thread with the rendering. But that thread included many questions and comments. I wanted to see a thread that contain all the construction pictures only. To see the evolution. As many people like me, we're in a hurry to see more and more about this ship.
agreed----It's tough on that thread to wade through all the comments...

IF things on Seaside are done similarly to Meraviglia then you will book the shows in advance when onboard. There are various ways of doing it on Meraviglia including screens shipwide and on the TV in your cabin. Supposedly able to do it thru' the MSC for Me app, too. It wasn't working when we were onboard.
The wristbands did work to open the cabin doors on Meraviglia and also on the access doors to YC for YC guests. We stopped using ours after a couple of days, though, as you still needed your cruisecard when getting on and off the ship and didn't want to lose the habit of always carrying the cruisecard.
Now that's interesting! Another example of the law on unintended consequences. I guess MSC didn't think of that when they discussed the bands.

so looking at the prices currently for the Thermal Pass it is $90 pp purchased in advance on my cruise. But there is also a package for $129 that includes this, plus a 30 min massage and a facial...much better value. Also other packages that include more "stuff" for a small premium over the $90pp for just the pass. Frankly, they're doing a good job of getting me (and probably others) to prepurchase stuff before the cruise....prices are cheap compared to other lines/ships.

I am most excited about the Roy Yamaguchi partnership. I went to 3 of his restaurants in Hawaii, and they all were among the best I have ever been to. And I live in NYC and consider myself a foodie!
-
I am sailing Seaside in January and bought the three specialty meal package for us, by phone. The MSC assistant asked me for the prospective dates for each dinner, there was a specific question for it.
are they confirmed dates or preferred dates? I bought this package as well and assumed I would have to do it once on board?
-
Any updates from recent cruisers on their purchases? Any reason to think there is some sort of catch like a bait and switch, etc?
-
Honestly, this thread is a breath of fresh air....so much negativity re: MSC that to read this thread was a delight. I am booked on the Seaside May 2018 and am going in hopeful but apprehensive!

If there was little Ocean Motion I would feel deprived of the true Cruise experience.
you know what they say...it ain't the size of the ship, it's the motion of the ocean!
