  1. Does anyone know how these advertisements are getting onto my messages? I downloaded my ticker from tickerfactory .com...could the advertising be attributed to that? If anyone knows, please let me know. If it's tickerfactory, I'll remove them right away and go to a different source for my ticker.

    Thanks for the help.

Heck, I thought you had a deal going with some company to advertise for them!!!!!

  2. Thanks for adding on your info. We plan a trip or 2 to San Antonio this summer. We'll have to get together for dinner!

    Annette

Sounds like a great idea dinner that is- When I first started teaching it was PE and then went to the classroom for sociology and a class called advanced social issues and problems. Surprised I didn't get fired when I had the president of the gay coiliton(sp) come to my class and speak......

  3. I thought it would be nice to organize everyone's information. It helps in getting to know each other. I have gone back several pages and this is what I have found. Please cut and paste and add to (or edit) this information as you see fit.

I thought it would be nice to have (at minimum) names, age, occupation and where you live.

    Hope no one minds.

Thanks for going to the trouble to do this-- I posted, but guess I forgot to type or something, since you all live in Austin and that's right down the road, email me if you want- okay I know it's a big deal to post the actual address(if you get caught) on these boards so here's mine in code.....

    fun75643atyahoo.com think that will fly.

  4. Viva Diversity! Sounds like most are up for wherever we end up just for the opportunity- that's fun! Well, I will be the Queen Mum of the group at 61 and my partner is 54, but we think we are fun to hang out with. As others have said, we have friends of all ages. Hope some of the other who haven't posted in a while will jump into our survey of potential.

  5. Been to Jamaica and loved it. According to Amnesty Internation most of the Carribean Islands are not queer friendly. Neither are a lot of the states but I go there. My point is although the government is not queer friendly many poeple are. Like anywhere, and so you shouldn't not go there because some guy running the place says bad things aobut us. Just like anywhere, be safe.

    cheers,

    PA

I agree with you PaddyA. We were in Jamaica and had a wonderful experience. We went with some people we met CC to a place called Mayfield Falls (supposed to be a Dunns Falls for the geriatric/kids-- how unture it was rough), then we all went to a beach and had wonderful food. We felt very safe the whole time. Am sure there are others with unpleasent experiences in several ports, but Jamaica was beautiful. Anyway- to each her own.

  6. I am definitely up for Mexican Riveria only because I can drive to either San Diego or L.A. and not have to worry about air fare!

Keep the ideas for locations and time frames coming, I'm making a list!

Thanks for keeping up with the list! I think no matter where we travel from some will have airfare and others not- and that's okay....

  7. Etoile,

No offense meant but your post kind of rubs me the wrong way. We have only cruised on what you consider the lower end mass market that attracts negative minded less "classy" people. I think we are "classy" as long as that does not mean "rich." We have enjoyed every cruise we have been on (carnival, RCI and Norwegian) and have never experienced a negative or "classless" passenger on any of these voyages. In fact, we have met several "classy" people that we remain in contact with today.

    Annette

My partner and I have only traveled on Carnival and certainly don't consider "us" to be anything less than classy. We have meet some fantastic people (hetro) and are planning a cruise with them next fall. Everyone has her own opinion.

  8. Aloha Ladies!

I've started a live post on the Roll Call Threads, but thought I'd check in her to say hi. We sailed out yesterday on time. Seas are a bit rough (had 11 to 18 foot waves last night), but the Bonine is working and we're enjoying ourselves. We've seen a few other women together so far in passing, but haven't met anyone yet..but it's early, only our 1st full day out of 15!

Welcome Silverwolfe2003! Hope you find some fellow cruises for your journey.

    More later.

Can't wait to hear more! Have a wonderful carefree time together. Let us hear from you when you can......
  9. Hey funlady,

I know you didn't ask me but I did the stingray city in Grand Cayman and it was awesome! We had a ball. It was somewhat intimidating at first but I got over that very quickly. Don't miss it if you have the opportunity.

    Caron

    funlady,

Thanks.....we have always just worn slacks and a shirt...neither one of us likes to wear sparkly things. But I was a little afraid of the fashion police that would enforce the dress code. And believe me.... me in a dress is not pretty sight:p .

BTW, did you by chance do Stingray City in Grand Cayman?

We did do Stingray city and went through Capt. Marvin's- the other boats were too full and this tour as small by comparison. It was a snorkeling/stingray city tour. The snorkeling was fabulous, but I was tryly overwhemled by the stingrays! Have never come so close to "walking on water" to return to the boat. Vicki loved the little creatures, but my take was "I did not invite you into my body space". Stingrays are beautiful from a safe distance(for me).:) Grand Cayman is so clean, that was a great stop.

  10. OK.....so both us love cruising and eating in the dining room..but hate dressing up.....I guess we are just 2 dykes. We have been on 4 cruises and the Hawaii cruise was by far the most informal.

We are going on the Carnival Conqest in Sept. and now I'm a little concerned. I have been following a thread on the Carnival board about the Conquest and other CCr's on that thread say that on formal nights the dress code is enforced. Now don't jump to conclusions...we do dress nice, nice slacks and a shirt but I refuse to wear a dress or skirt....I think it's because I went to Catholic school for 8 yrs. and had to wear a dress everyday. Anyway, do you think this will be ok??

Not to worry! We went on the Conquest in November and to formal nights we both wore just pants with some sparkly tops. No one threw food at us or deprived us of desert (I was afarid THAT might happen). We were aware of the "enforcement of dress code", however there were people way dressed down as well as those who were way dressed up. Never ran into the fashion police (probably a good thing) and had a great time. Understand about the Catholic school thing.. went to one as well.

So back to the formal night deal- on our next cruise this summer that is one issue I am not going to sweat.

  11. Funlady,

We live in the DFW area. And we both work for the post office!! Thankfully not in the same building....we would probably drive each other crazy. We are going on the Carnival Conquest out of Galveston Sept.23, 2007....ya'll should join us!!!

Postalgrrl, We sailed on the Conquest in November and would sail her again in a heart beat. The ports were wonderful and we have talked about sailing the Conquest again (duh I am repeating my posts, think I just said this).

Gosh 2 Postals in the same family- kind of scarey:). How long have you all been there? V gets to retire in 2 years and then we will be able to grab last minute super cruise deals. To think, it took this long for us to discover cruises- what a way to travel! Last cruise we meet and were adopted by 2 straight couples we meet here on a roll call and they really showed us the ropes in several ports. We checked the FOD meetings, but there didn't seem to ever be anyone there. Opps rambling...:o

Anyone hosting or going to a Super Bowl party????

  12. Funlady,

San Antonio is a great town. I live just outside of Dallas for a few years and visited San Antonio. Love the boat rides on the canal! (Guess I love anykind of boat...even really small ones!)

We haven't done Cozumel yet, but it's on my list of places to go. We're thinking of sailing out of Galveston to visit those ports. Do you every sail from the west coast?

Mithryl, This June we are sailing out of Seattle on the Golden to Alaska (probably could have picked a better itineray, but cost factored into this one). We loved the ports we sailed to in November! Talked this morning about revisiting those ports again. For me, it's the cruise itself, for V it's the ports and adventure. I am sure I will change my mind after Alaska! If you all did sail from Galveston which line do you think you would choose?

  13. Oh, one of my favorite ports! There is quite a bit to do in Cozumel, so it really depends on what sort of things you like and how much money you want to spend. I definitely recommend snorkeling there. The first time we went, we went out on a boat for $25 per person for about 3 hours. The second time, we went to Chankanaab park and spent most of the day there snorkeling right off the beach. I think that's the best way to do it, and that's what we've done ever since. I can't remember what it costs to get in, but I think it's about $8/person, and if you need it, you can rent snorkeling gear there very cheaply. The park also has a botanical garden and swimming area. I love it there!

    Hope that helps!

Wow- Gone for a bit and look at all the posts..how much fun! My partner and I went to Cozumel in Nov. and we booked the Dolphin Experience at Chankanaab park. Had we know what a wondful place it is, we would have spent the whole day there. The Dolphin deal was my highlight of the cruise, but we could have gone snorkeling as well. If we go back will spend the day there!

By the way we are 61 and 54 and live in San Antonio Texas. Anyone else close? I am a retired school teacher and my partner works for the Post Office.

  14. Hi Funlady,

We're considering a Princess cruise to Alaska in June as well. We we're there with Olivia back in 2001. We're thinking about the Sun Princess on 6/10/07 that circles out of Seattle and back so we can just drive over and save on any airfare. Which cruise are you booked on?

I'll be sure and let you know what we think of our Hawaii cruise as soon as we return.

Hi Mithryl, We are going on the Golden out of Seattle on 6/16/07. It's my college roomate's big birthday and she is going to join us. Wish you all would come on our cruise:) . Picked this one because of work schedules and we have some frequent flyer miles with Southwest that will cover airfare.

  15. Hi Gator,

Thanks for the reply. Olivia's Mexican Riveria with Lily Tomlin sounds great! Let us know if you think it was worth the extra dollars. We'll be cruising to Hawaii on Princess this year at the same approximate time as your Mexico Cruise. We're considering the 2008 Olivia river cruise on the Danube. My heritage is Germanic, so I'm fasinated by the idea...but I'm always conscious of the cost of Olivia verus "regular" cruises to the same place.

Do you mind if I add you to my "buddy list" on Cruise Critic so we can say i touch?

I will be interested in hearing about the worth of the Olivia cruise as well. My partner and I just discovered cruises and love them, but the Olivia cruise sure seems expensive. We went on Carnival in November and are going on Princess in June to Alaska. We are also considering aHawaii cruise sometime in the future. Let me know how you enjoy your cruise as well.:) Thanks!
