  1. Upon boarding, where's a nice place to go to get a drink and watch the human masses as they get acclimated to the ship (preferably outside to enjoy the tropical weather)? j (both around the crowds, or an out of the way place to chill)

Additional tips for places to stake out during the cruise ... such as the solarium pool or one of the lounges in the atrium ... where do people go to chill while crowd watching?

    TIA

  2. Bad news for all lovers of sparking water and caffeine free diet coke:

    https://www.ncl.com/faq/liquor-beverage-policy

Effective July 1, 2016, for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call.

People need to swamp their FB page and tell them what you think.

  3. Can somebody, anybody take a picture of how room 4567 joins the main hallway?

On the deck plans it magically appears in the middle of the ship and none of the reviews of the room explains where its located relative to the hallway of the ship.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Do you think NCL is losing money in the casinos?

    The house ALWAYS wins.

Besides the obvious win/losses ... the casino even wins on the "losses" (except for odds on craps). Think of it this way (and these are not exact odds, so save me the math correction) ... if a natural blackjack is 7:1 odds, but they only pay you 2:1 ... they pocket the underpayment. In other words, gamblers are never paid the actual odds of winning. So, the casino actually shaves the winnings and therefore "wins" on the "losses".

The only game in the casino that pays true odds is the odds bets on craps on the Pass/Do Not Pass lines. That is why it's the best game if you're talking pay out vs. risk.

There is a fascinating website called the Wizard of Odds that breaks down every single bet for every single game to show you how to maximize your winnings.

  5.

I'm guessing the couple would have to fly from Nassau to New York and wait for the Breakaway's return. When we went to Nassau, all we had was our picture ID and a small amount a cash. It would be difficult to purchase food, flights, hotels etc.

There are people saying it's easy for people who know what to do ... so I'll help out for future reference. If you're left behind, lose your passport, etc. .. proceed immediately to the embassy. These aren't just vacation ports of call ... these are foreign countries and our government maintains embassies to assist U.S. citizens. The one in Nassau is next to the McDonalds that many of you pass by walking to the beach from the boat (approx. 5 blocks from the dock).

  6. Why does everyone feel a need to stay close to the port? Are you afraid the boat will leave without you or all the taxis will suddenly stop running the day of departure? You're already in the same city ... stay somewhere nice and/or near some fun and relax .. you're on vacation. Sheesh.
