Those in the casino could already escort tours.
I a not sure why you think someone in the casino needs to perform other positions other than the casino.
Anyway, none of this will change Crystal's plans whatever they are.
KeithEfficiency. Dealers work only on non-port nights, and only 4-6 hours per day.

That's not how it worked. This was their only job no different than those who work in the stores. That's their job and their hours vary each day depending on times at sea and times in port. There are some days when they work very long hours and other days when they work less.
There are others who share your view and others who do not.
'm not saying whether it is a good or bad idea to keep or not keep the casino and I certainly have no idea about the financials. I do have my own opinion but in the end what I think won't change the plans.
I wasn't being flippant but I know people have lots of views on this but in the end Crystal has likely decided. I also think that is true of many things over the years. There were programs that went away and some didn't care while others did.

Could be their plan going forward. Why not have a dealer who also can be a tender operator, a waiter, a tour guide, etc... There is too much reliance on "how things used to be..."

And the perfect place to lose money
I don't think I've met anyone in a casino who doesn't understand what's at stake.

I'm solidly Generation X. Our first Crystal cruise was in 2005. We instantly fell in love with the line even though we were in our early 30s. The "Crystal magic" captivated us, and we did 6 or 7 additional Crystal cruises. I don't think we were typical Gen Xers at all. This wasn't the line Gen X would first choose to vacation on. But we did, and we met people on each cruise with shared interests and common travel experiences.
Now, as we approach our 50s, we realize that we're rapidly speeding toward Crystal's prime demographic, and Generation X will be Crystal's next main customer base. Will Gen X find Crystal appealing? Every generation has different wants and expectations, and I hope that "new Crystal" can balance the legacy of the great brand with the importance of attracting new customers.
Would love to hear from any other (rare) Gen X Crystal Cruisers, and how they feel the line can change to attract a new generation without making changes that lose the "Crystal magic."

They did before Genting bought them and took it over.
The dealers didn't have other jobs. You might have seen some escort guests on tours since they could put in for that.I know everyone has an opinion but the only one that counts is what Crystal has planned.

That wasn't my recollection. I thought some of the dealers had other duties on the ship.
Regardless, what other use of the space is going to bring in as much additional revenue as a casino?
It's a mistake to erase that part of the Crystal experience. As I said in a previous post, the casino is a memorable part of the evening experience. I'd hate to see it go. It was special on formal nights. It was a great outpost for socializing and meeting other guests.

Why doesn't Crystal run its own casinos? If I remember correctly, all of the dealers had other jobs on the ship. There wasn't a separate casino crew. Owning a casino is like a license to print money. The house always wins. There are only a handful of machines and tables on these ships. It's not complicated.

That's unfortunate. Some of the most enjoyable nights are formal nights when the show empties, and people flow into the casino. Great socializing and fun. I think it's a mistake to remove them from the ships.

Disappointing.
We're sailing on December 16th. Just bought a new tux for the cruise. Formal nights always gave the ship a sense of occasion. It's sad that that's slowly slipping away.
I'm still going to wear my tux on the "formerly formal" nights. Better to be overdressed than underdressed.

My understanding is that the system, part of Google related technology is not
likely to be available over expanse of open seas. This was to my ears the O3B project that some family relative worked on, or so they said.
The non specific response by Celeb in my opinion is that they don't want to admit to their real future plans and are perhaps stalling with hoping that we
will assume that they are doing all that they can. I call unresponsive answers to be modern luxury.
Seems to be limited to certain swaths of the planet. (Like the Caribbean.)
The satellite beams are targeted directly to the ship, so to cover the globe (and everywhere Celebrity sails) would be a VERY expensive proposition.
-
Formal nights used to have a sense of occasion. Now they're being relegated to "just another night in comfy jeans."
Sad.
I'm closer in age to the 4 people in the Celebrity "Evening Chic" ad (30-40) than I am to the typical Celebrity Cruiser and I just bought a new tuxedo and several bow ties for my December 16th cruise.
I'm disappointed to hear about the new dress code, but I'm not too concerned. I'm still going to wear my tux on the "formerly formal" nights and enjoy it.
I'd always much rather be overdressed for an occasion than underdressed.

Sadly, there are no survivors - according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The plane had 8 pax and the pilot.

"Sweet Caroline" is my karaoke go-to. I will sing that song until the day I die... most likely on a Crystal Cruise.
