Hi Everyone,

I'm a third person in a room in a Balcony Suite Cabin. They said I have to sleep on a cot. I have to sign some paperwork saying I'm ok with that. Has anyone slept on a cot? Just wondering how comfortable that is. Also how are the rooms on that boat that only have a shower and not a shower/tub? I have never sailed on Fred Olson before. Usually Norwegian or MSC. Just wondering the difference.

Thank you dst87 for your reply. Azza-before I got on the boat in a European port I bought a straighter with a European plug. Both Norweign and Costa let me bring that on. Msc might be different.

yes, we have them. Called a power strip here. Both Costa cruise line and Norwegian Cruise line frowned on them. You aren't suppose to have them in your room. Does MSC allow them?

Last year I was on a Norwegian cruise and it had an one American plug and one European one. Three years ago I was on another one of their ships and they had only one European plug in the whole room and had no more adapters to lend out. I picked one up in a port. Also I was on a Costa and they only had one European plug. I like to bring my plugs with me so I don't have to depend on the boat or go out and buy them. Six was a lot! I never had that many in a room.

I know every boat is different. I was curious about the Spendida.

I am going on the MSC Splendida in mid September. I was wondering what kind of electrical outlets there are in the room. Are they American or European? I just want to know if I have to bring adapters with me. Also anyone know how many plugs are in a suite?

Thank you. I posted on Anni's thread but it seems like she is on holiday till September with little internet access. Also she said in other replies that she has only done day trips to Hamburg and is not familiar with hotels.

I'm going on an MSC cruise out of Hamburg, Germany. I am looking to stay night before we depart cruise at a hotel. Is the port near the city center? I've never been there before so I would like to explore Hamburg. Is there hotel anyone would recommend? I see a Marriott, Hyatt, Radisson and Hilton but can't determine how far they are. I don't want to be far out of the city but yet close to the port. Is far is city center from the port? How much do cabs cost? I need to take a cab from the airport and one to cruise terminal. I called MSC and they don't know the names of hotel that they put people in when they book them. Anyone have any suggestions? No one I know is familiar with this city. Any suggestions on what I should see? I only have that one day.

I looked and not many hotels have airport transfers. We will have enough luggage with us so we decided not to take a train. Taxi would be best.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice. I am going to look at all the hotels mentioned.

I do have a few questions.

Coldinerie - since you were they recently. How much was the private taxi to the hotel? There are three of us. Did you arrange it before time? Or did you find the boat in the airport? Are the water taxis just waiting?

Baseball fan- you said you walked to St. Mark's square from the hotel. How long did it take you? Is it very far?

I am taking an NCL cruise that leaves out of Venice. We are arriving the night before and staying the night in Venice.

I have been there before years ago and I know how hard it is to get around with luggage.

I will be traveling with my parents who are older and will have problems going far with luggage.

Does anyone know of a hotel in Venice easy to get to with luggage? I will need to come from the airport. Is there a shuttle? Also how would I get to the port to catch my cruise? Are shuttles expensive?

I want to go to Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge area. So it is probably easier if I stay in Venice rather than outside.

I tried to get a hotel through NCL but they were sold out. I asked for transfers but they said I can't get any if I stay the night before.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
