  1. Hubby and I feel your pain, we have cruised Celebrity and although they have amazing food, service and snacks in the casino at night that you can't compare, the feel of the cruise is different. For us there is nothing like a Carnival Cruise. Fun around every corner. Excitement the moment you board the ship! Celebrity is amazing don't get me wrong, we also tried the Princess cruise but ended up coming right back to Carnival. Its the FUNSHIP of all ships!!

Whatever made you stop going on Carnival, just remember... don't sweat the small stuff, enjoy the cruise and dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening and of course eat like no one cares!!! You only live once!! Last but not least.. you will more than likely never see anyone from the ship ever again in life so cut loose and feel free to live the dream!!!

  2. Be careful while on metformin and drinking alcohol it can cause lactic acidosis, I am not sure of the spelling but it can be fatal. I just read the sheet they give you at the pharmacy with the prescription so I am going to be calling to get on a different med.

After looking at the mixes I wonder if the bartender can make the frozen drinks and trade out the same amount of water for the juices and then just add the milo or other sugar free powder to see how it tastes. I may have to try that before we go.

  3. My doc just put me on Metformin a couple months ago for type 2 and I'm always looking for ways to cut carbs. I never thought to make a cocktail out of those flavored sugar free squirt bottles. I'm now trying Crystal Light Pomtini with a little vodka. I'm going to order some Go Cocktail tomorrow and give that a try too.

  4. Donna I am with ya. I have cheated very little but find that it helped me stay on track. I am very disiplined in eating and if I crave something like chocolate or chips I am happy with one bite and can walk away. But on the cruise I just don't want to not have something that I really want because I am so sure I can go back on this diet when I get back. I was worried that I would have to take 2 sizes of clothes just in case. I will however make good decisions on what I cheat with and not go overboard but the Miami Vices and the DOD the first day is what I really want. I am going to try the diet desserts as someone said they are good. I can always forgo the bread and potatos in exchange for some chocolate and drinks;)

  5. I tried spaghetti squash last year and was very disappointed. It's not pasta... the consistency of mine was too mushy. Did I cook wrong? Probably. But it was just so frustrating!

A little over a week to go...

I usually buy the smaller ones, cut the stem off, cut lengthwise...scrape out the seeds and bake for about 30 or 40 min at 350 with butter and pepper in the middle and you can just keep checking it by scraping from the sides to the middle and you can check consistency that way. I like mine a little crunchy. Make sure you have a good knife as they are a little hard to cut.

I will have to try your popper recipe with pimentos

  6. cruisin4fun323 - thanks for the tip on jalapeneo peppers - I love them too - how many carbs do you count? I was on atkins a few years ago and did really well - unfortunately a few pounds have crept on but more in inches so I'm trying it again as well as exercising so I can get into some cruise clothes for our cruise in Feb. I don't crave sweets but do crave the fresh bread, rice and especially pasta and of course I now like red wine which I didn't drink before.

A friend recently told me about spagetti squash which I have never had or cooked and since it is an OK vegetable on Atkins, I thought I'd give it a try and bought one on the weekend - it is very good - just steamed it and then served with butter and salt and pepper.

    Thanks again......

Well, it is 2 carbs for 1 oz of cream cheese, I usually do 25 poppers and in half that is 50 and use about 3 oz so I usually count 1 or 2 carbs for 10 halfs "if that makes sense" I forgot... you should like the cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with pam" before putting poppers on.

As for the diet it took a couple weeks but the cravings do go away for the most part. If you look back in the posts I was stressed for the first 2 weeks thinking I would never make it but I did and you can too. :D

  7. I love the Strawberry Bisque and the Pumpkin. Also love the cream of mushroom. The onion soup in the supper club is so rich I can't order it. I get so filled up from the soup I can't eat the scrumptious dessert. It's the best onion soup I've every had! (But I can't give up the dessert!!!)

I am glad to know I am not the only one that can't stomach the Onion soup in the supper club. I love it at dinner but the supper club is wayy tooo rich....

  8. Wow sounds like everyone is doing great. I haven't checked in for awhile, Donna if you only gained 6 pounds I am proud of you and hope that is all I gain. Did you drink any Miami Vices' or DOD and did you just cheat slightly everyday. I am down 20 pounds. I wish I would have found this diet before I spent all the money on Plastic Surgery.LOL I am really wanting to loose another 20 by my cruise on 1/23/09 I really think I can. I am not craving much at all.

I am quite the baker for the holidays so I know that will be my weak point. I have only cheated on weekends and that consists of 7 or 8 tortilla chips on Saturday nights. I haven't missed pasta which is good. I am so looking forward to the cruise for the drinks and the funny thing is I don't know if I am going to like them anymore. Sounds wierd but I swear my tastebuds have changed.

I am hooked on the jalopeno poppers... You cut them in half, take seed out if you don't like them really hot (I do) fill with a little cream cheese, top with a little shredded cheddar and wrap with bacon (I take a strip and cut down the middle and accross to make 4 pieces) bake at 450 for 20 minutes and it is YUMMY.

  9. Pink the wings were plain, I boiled them for 10 minutes and grilled for 15 I tried the Carb free bbq and didn't like it so decided to eat plain. I am heading back to the gym tommorrow and changing to all fish and chicken and staying away from the red meat and see if that makes a difference because I rarely ever ate red meat before the diet. We will see I am back to the 10 pounds off and my monthly is comming so I will just hope for a no gain for the next week. I drink about 5 16 ounce bottled waters a day is that enough? I really don't like water, but I do have 1 diet dew or diet pepsi a day as well. I may switch to 1/2 calffeine coffee since it is getting colder. I find that I really am not snacking at all during the day and really make myself eat.

Does anyone know of a recipe that involves chicken, cabbage, cheese it some kind of casserole I can't remember where I found the recipe. Thanks.

Looks like really good crackers I will hold off on them though.

  10. Donna, sad to say that the BBQ is aweful, it tastes like sugar and something nasty I just can't pinpoint it. I have eaten a lot of diet food but this one is not good. I was debating on the chocolate one but that would make me want ice cream and a banana. I have another hair appointment in 6 weeks by then I should have lost some more weight.

The crackers that I was saving I tried one and they are ok but you really need something on them and it gives the crunch that I have been wanting.

I really am not loosing this week about 7 off altogether and I was counting about 4 or 5 as water. I wonder what I am doing wrong. I eat eggs w/sausage or bacon with a little shredded cheese for breakfast and I added a few mushrooms today and dried shallots. Lunch I had a cheeseburger/ no bun with 1 slice of tomatoe and 1/2 slice of onion and 2 lettuce leafs and mayo. Dinner was about 6 chicken wings and a little tuna saled that had egg, little bit of onion and pickle and mayo. Have had the same thing pretty much all week so far. One day I did have the 2 cups of lettuce with a little tomato and hamburger and ranch.

Tommorrow I am planning on having Tuna for lunch, I don't know what to have for breakfast. I don't know dinner yet either.

  11. Hi again, I just got back from a hair cut and I just had to share this. Next to my hair salon is a Nurtrition store and I decided to go in and see what they had to offer. The man there was very helpful and is a pharmacist... I told him that I was on the Atkins diet and he said he had a small area left in the store that was low carb and that is was the thing 4 years ago but not so much now... well I informed if of this website and everything Atkins website and let him know that the diet was still alive and pretty strong. :D

We discussed a few things and he told me of these 2 vitamins that really work well when Ketosis starts to slow down and you get stalled, they are in the book I guess I must of missed it.

In the end without trying to pressure sell me on any other diet he said and I quote "Atkins IS the best diet out there" . YEA it is always nice to have that verified by a store owner that did not have a lot of product for me but was pro-Atkins anyway. :D I will go to the other side of town tommorrow and check out a few other health food stores tommorrow.

I did pick up this Waldens BBQ sauce 0 carbs 0 sugars 0 everything really "wonder what is in it" I also picked up these Scandanavian Bran cracker things that are 0 carb, well actually 3 carbs but 3 fiber so I think they are 0. I am not eating them now but want them on hand in week 5 and and so forth.

Donna that is Awesome that you can go on and off but I fear this early in the game I won't try it. I haven't really had any cravings yet if I were to pick it would be ice cream.. although I never ate it that much before starting this because of the calories and tends to lead to more. Ice cream are my Pringles you can't eat just one.

  12. Hi everyone, I am starting my 3rd week sticking with induction, would like to see more stable results. I am going to stay off the scale as it is flectuating too much for me. I did buy some bars and had one and was 5 pounds heavier the next day so I am going to take the advise and stay away from them until I am closer to my goal. I bought some vitamins and I am going to find some new food ideas.

About the Red Lobster though I thought we could have lobster and shrimp? I went there one day and had their new special with the lobster, shrimp and crab legs and it was yummy. It was all in butter no breading. It was however hard to resist the biscuits but I did.

Great Job on the 27 pounds.. how long has it taken you to loose it?

  13. I am down 10 pounds as of this morning. Wooohooo! Now I am technically done with induction Monday but think I will try and stay on it another couple weeks. Maybe I will get one of the Atkins shakes or bars just to have them around. I just have to think of it like smoking... MIND OVER MATTER. Or that is my philosophy on a lot of things. :D

  14. Hi everyone, I am now 10 days in to the induction. I was down 8 pounds on Monday and now I am up 3 today. I have really stuck with it with the exception that I had 4 drinks on Saturday night it was Diet Tonic and Tanquray "I really didn't like the taste of it at first is that wierd since I have been drinking it for the last 10 years" and now I also figured out tonight that the Whipped cream that I bought had 2 carbs but also had 2 sugars  which was not noticed before :( I usually have 2 TBLS a day and count the carbs and have had this for the last couple days... do you think this is what caused the weight gain? If so what do I do? Do I start the 2 weeks over?

I found some interesting things happening... maybe someone can explain, I am sweating!!! I never used to sweat no matter how much I work out I would get really red but not sweat much at all. Another thing I have been been noticing is that with all the water I am drinking on other diets by the end of the day my pee would be clear and now it is not, even though I go all day long.

I have also been finding it easier with the meat when I put this Artichoke, jalapeno dip from Costco on it. It shows only 1 carb and no sugar for 2 TBLS and I make sure and measure it.

Jean so sorry about your loss.

I am looking forward to trying the 2 new breakfast ideas thanks a lot for the info.

I am feeling like I let myself down a bit with not noticing the sugar. I haven't had a whole lot of cravings until the kids get home from school and start snacking thats when I would get my whipped cream out and have a couple spoons of it.
