  1. Animals, whether it be a dog or a cat, do not have a sense of time. So if you leave them for 10 min, or 10 days, they will not realize the amount of time you are gone. Tell them to go ahead and have a great time on their cruise.

    Carol

I wish I could believe this, but I don't at all. Dogs often get very depressed (and ill) when their owners are gone. One of my cats wakes us up at the same time every morning, and another starts waiting for me at the door every day about 10 minutes before I get home from work. When we leave them alone, with someone checking in on them every day, they are very skittish when we get home. When someone stays with them they're much better, but my stepson just stayed with ours while we were away and he said that one of them spent a lot of time looking sad and staring out the window. And when we got home they were very clingy. I know that a lot of people don't understand how attached some of us are to our pets, but many of us take our commitment to them very seriously. I just got back from a 15 night cruise and it was really hard for me to leave them for that long, but I forced myself to do it because I know I can't put my life on hold because of them. And I don't want to be perceived as a crazy cat lady. But I can tell you I don't think I'll leave them for that long again. I probably missed them more than they missed me.

  2. Ssislandgirl, can you please tell me how you got to Rony's taxi from the ship? I've reserved Rony's for an upcoming trip and am getting conflicting information about where they meet you. Did you have to take a shuttle to the main gate to meet the Rony's driver? If so, was the shuttle run by the port or the ship? Is the shuttle right outside the ship? Did it take long to get on the shuttle and get to the gate? Sorry for so many questions! Thanks!

  3. I can map it out for you but the quickest and safest trip both ways is to walk along strøget.

From your hotel you just walk along Nyhavn to the big square called Kongens Nytorv (Kings New Square).

Here you find Strøget to the left (when seen from the square) of the Hotel D'Angleterre.

At the other end of Strøget you will find Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square), you will then find Tivolis main entrance behind the big glassy building called Industriens Hus.

Just walk straight over the square along the fence to the metro construction site and walk over the huge pedestrian crossing and then walk with Industriens Hus on your left hand.

Hope that makes sense or else I will map it out when I get on a computer.

    Thank you so much!

  4. Danish Viking, can you please help me with a walking route? I will be staying at the Bethel and would like to go to Strøget and from there to Tivoli. Could you tell me the best (most scenic/safest) walking route? Also, I'd like to see Tivoli at night. Will it be safe to walk back to the hotel from there at night, and is there a different route I should take on the return since we won't need to stop at Strøget?

    Thank you!

  5. The Sheraton Lincoln Harbor is right at the Lincoln Tunnel. You can hop on a bus for a quick ride through the tunnel and can survive standing if necessary. My personal problem with the bus involves longer trips where you can get caught in traffic on the Lincoln Tunnel approach. Coming out of the city, I'm not keen on dealing with finding the correct bus platform in Port Authority Bus Terminal. So if I have a choice, I'll take any sort of rail transportation over the bus.

One advantage to the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor is that you also have a ferry option plus the light rail option to go to Hoboken or Newport or Exchange Place to catch PATH into downtown Manhattan or Greenwich Village.

Liberty State Park is about 15 minutes from the port. Leaving there at 12:30 should be fine - you should miss most of the chaos at Cape Liberty.

    Thank you!

  6. Thank you Carol:D and I DO appreciate you:)

Carol, I'm hoping you can help me with a couple of questions...

I'm going on a cruise on the Explorer in a couple of weeks. Prior to the cruise, we're visiting Manhattan for a couple of days. We plan to stay at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor and take the bus when we go into the city. You said above that you don't like doing that. I know it's just your personal opinion, but I just wondered if you could tell me why. It looks so easy, so I just want to be sure I'm not putting us into an unpleasant situation.

Also, the cruise leaves on a Saturday (4pm departure). We plan to visit the Statue of Liberty that morning and then leave Liberty State Park (via our personal car) for the cruise terminal at 12:30pm. Looks like it should only be about a 15 minute drive (without traffic) and we'll need to park. Do you think traffic could be so bad getting into the terminal that we'd be at risk of missing the ship?

  7. Does the Summit Michael's Club have this extensive Beer Menu? The one on the Constellation (April 2013) did not.

This concerns me since we plan to be on the Constellation in Feb. and one of the (main) reasons we chose the ship is because it has Michael's and the craft beers. And we upgraded to the Premium package just so that my husband can try any of the beers he wants from there. According to the Celebrity website, Michael's on the Connie does have the 64 beers. Is that not true? I'm also concerned about all of the comments that Michael's is not open much of the time. If, in fact, the Connie does have the craft beers, is Michael's the only place we can get them? If I find out that my husband the beer snob could be stuck drinking Bud all day I may have to cancel this cruise!
