  1. Hello.  We are a group of seven with three 18 year old teen boys cruising in March.  Our stops are San Juan, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove.

Has anyone done a segway tour in San Juan?  Or even electric scooters?

Also does anyone know which stop has the best ziplining through a private company?

    Thanks!

  2. My family was on the Miracle in December.  We usually don't play Bingo or Deal or No Deal but decided it would be fun this time.  For Deal or No Deal, we won the $30 Casino Play (they just gave us the money when we went to the Casino to cash it out.) and $200 cash.

We played the $5000 Bingo. We were one number shy of the $5000 but the round before we won $500.

    It was a good time.

  3. Hi all,

My family and I are cruising to Cabo mid December.  My husband is a huge fan of al pastor and/or carnitas tacos. The more 'hole in the wall' the better as far as he's concerned.

Are there places in walking distance from the port?

I was thinking of doing a taco crawl (like a pub crawl but for tacos).  He would be thrilled to be able to go to more than one place.  Tacos are his love language.

    Thanks

I'm curious....has anyone won any of the sweepstakes??  Evidently it enters me once every day that I log into my account and you can also "purchase"  entries with your points.

I won a $25 Target gift card.  I received an email.  Thought it was a scam, didn't click on the link but signed into my Allstate account and there it was. I didn't even know you could win things...

  5. We will be in New Orleans for a few days before our cruise.  I've had raw oysters once, my husband never has and is not interested.  Is there a place in the French Quarter that you can just buy one or two oysters?  Raw? Charbroiled? Fried? And he can order something else?  A burger?

I see half dozen or a dozen on menus...but no singles.

    Thanks!

  6. My husband and I are cruising with Carnival...

We are thinking of taking a taxi to Paradise beach...hanging out for a while and then taking a taxi to downtown in the afternoon for exploration.  The husband is a big fan of authentic street tacos (al pastor and carnitas)...I did a little research and it seems like Los Otates is highly recommended.  Will it be difficult to get a taxi back to the Carnival pier?

Jamaica. I had read on here about Jamaica. I was prepared. No direct eye contact, don't engage conversation, just go to your destination and that is it. We had decided to got to Doctor’s Beach. We were in no hurry so debarking was a breeze. We had a leisurely breakfast and headed out. There is nothing at the Jamaica port. One building. We were herded into a shuttle van and told the driver where to take us. Most of the people were headed on the van were headed there. Once we got going, the driver and tour guide of sorts tried to convince us to pay extra and they would take us around the city. She was very demanding. No one agreed and she got very unhappy. SHe also tried to get us to pay round trip and they would come back for us. She started telling horror stories about other taxis. I couldn’t get off the van fast enough, It was bad enough the ride cost $30 for 4 of us. I almost felt that if we didn’t agree to their demands, they would not let us off at the right spot but they did. We paid admission to the beach area and had to pay extra for chairs and umbrellas. It was $15 a person for admission including chairs and umbrellas. Once we got set up, the teenagers headed for the water. The beach area is very nice. There are servers who will bring food and drinks. They are very territorial. One told me that she was my server. I just happened to be walking to the water and stopped to ask another server a question, and my server ran over, shooed the other server away and reminded me that she was my server. Okay…… There are people who are selling trinkets but it wasnt so bad except for those that hide out in the ocean and pop up to sell you things when you wade in. I was wading in when a person that I thought was enjoying the nice cool water, jumped up from sitting in the ocean and up came with him lots of wet bracelets. The bathrooms are very nice and the water and sand was delightful. We were ready to go back to the ship after about 3.5 hours. As soon as I began packing up, workers ran over and stood by our chairs to give them to someone else. I am not one who likes to be pushed around. I may have unpacked completely just to confuse the workers. I may or may have not sat back down and then packed up again.

We decided to do a little shopping. Again I was extremely wary. We hit one shop and were able to find things we liked. When asked about pot, I explained that I am from Colorado and our pot is better than theirs. I was left alone after that. My kids however were hassled about smoking pot. (Not cool in my book). We bought our things and got a taxi back to the ship. Lots of taxis available. I had no issues with our taxi driver.

We got back to the ship and decided to have a last lunch at the pasta shop. I wish I would have eaten there sooner. I loved their marinara sauce. I added in sausage and onions. Delicious! Because of the long delays in the main dining room, we opted for the Lido Buffet for dinner. All I can say is Meh. I definitely do not think good food is a strong suit of Carnival. But I can stand to lose weight so I am trying to look on the bright side… My hubby and I attempted to attend the America Rocks show. We stayed all of 10 min after it began. The singing was so off key. It was just no enjoyable. We left. He played poker and I watched videos and watched Jamaica disappear in the distance.

    A couple questions:

Are there taxi's to get to Doctor's Cave so you don't have to take a shuttle?

Are there shops close to Doctor's Cave?

    Thanks for the review.

  8. My husband and I will be in Grand Cayman on the Carnival Dream at the end of January.  It will be our first time there.  I've been doing some research but of course I still have questions...

We aren't going to do a ship excursion and would like to just do a little window shopping/walking around being tourists and then spend some time at a beach.  We aren't drinkers and we would like a place where we aren't stepping over other people to get to the water.

From what I've read...the bus is the easiest and the least expensive way to go.  Are the buses located right outside of the port?

    Or

Can we walk from the cruise port to an area that has shopping and things of that sort?  Then take the bus from that area to a beach area?

As for the beach time, I'm leaning toward the Public Beach area on 7 Mile Beach.  Is Sea Grape Beach and Public Beach the same place?  If so what will the bus driver need to be told?

I think Calico Jack's is right there...I'm hoping that if we walk away from Calico Jack's it won't be as crowded, but that if we get hungry we can head over for food.

Do the buses take US$? Can we buy food at Calico Jack's with US$? If we find some little trinkets, do most places take US$?

    And one more...for now...

Is there a place to get a passport stamp near or in the cruise port?

    Thanks for the help!

  9. Saint Greg...thanks for the reply.  I followed along with your fun review...

To figure out what hotel they will give you are you just looking at the review numbers on each hotel page? Or something else?
