  1. After many cruises I have learned to streamline my packing with travel size toiletries and mix-match outfits.  With the fees for checking luggage, I prefer to roll and jam stuff in a carry on then send clothes out for PRESS ONLY once unpacked… less $$ than checking luggage and less packing stress. Wash and fold services can be cheaper than checking luggage also.

I don’t mind hand washing and hanging to dry overnight.  If not completely dry, I hang inside the closet until the cabin cleaning is done so not in the stewards way. Washing undies or a shirt while taking a shower is multitasking. 😉

Safety issues with a self-serve laundry:  overloading, over detergent, hot irons (yes, even auto shutoff), lint traps….

  2. This will be out first cruise on the Explorer of the Seas. (Alway's sailed / preferred smaller Royal ships…D+ finally 👏)

Looking forward to the shows at the ice skating rink… assuming there are some. Do I need to book a showtime for any performance?  I guess the same question can apply to any shows on the Explorer??

  3. Tho we would likely add to them once on board, we have already prepaid gratuities with our booking, and included HIA.
Are gratuities included in the Pinnacle and Canaletto restaurants with HIA?

  4. With HIA, what might be customary pertaining to tipping at the Pinnacle or Canaletto? Tip/no tip.

Yes! I do realize that tipping is individual, just wondering about customary, not specifically amount.

  5. 8PM is too late for us. 5:00 is too early.

Immediately after boarding we go straight to the dining room and request a window table for two for our MyTime…as close to 6:00 as possible ( tho that doesn’t really jibe with the traditional times).  So whatever time we are on the books for, we at least generally get our window table ( tho not guaranteed) for two.  The first night is usually a confusing/chaotic time at the MDR.  After folks learn the drill, we find a smoother process.  We generally arrive at the tail end of the first seating…close to our assigned time…and get seated quickly…often at a preferred location.  We do not care if we get the same staff each night. If we need to wait, a cocktail nearby is easy!   Memo: take note of the two waiting lines…one for reservations, one without!

  6. Opinions/thoughts of best time of day to visit Sagrada Familia?

I will purchase tickets soon for a November visit, so wondering if there might be an optimal time of day to tour…music playing?….Natural (sun) lighting?….crowds?…Construction workers?

Pretty sure any time is good so hopefully not over thinking!

  7. Will be in Barcelona for two and a half days (3nights) pre-cruise.  Looking to schedule an itinerary … realistically knowing we won’t see it all.

    Staying at H10 Catalunya Plaza

     1. Midday arrival, so for a half day, thinking of just wandering that area depending on jet lag.

    2. 1st full day….

a city tour(suggestions??) to get acquainted with the city then a nice dinner

    3.  2nd full day…

early tour of Salgada Familia then Gothic Quarter? easy walk? Taxi?

    4. 3rd day noonish

head to cruise port after leisure morning ( coffee/breakfast on the plaza)

    Thanks for suggestions!
