  1. Just trying to work out if it is worth going for the drinks package. Hubby and I don't drink much alcohol but do like a couple of drinks in the evening and drink lots of sodas during the day. I also like coffee and icecream! Cant find out the bar prices for drinks - can anyone help me? Thanks

  2. Yes, people will still book early because price is NOT everything. Different people have different needs. Many people cannot book last-minute vacations due to work/school schedules. In addition to that, many people have specific preferences - time of year, cabin categories, location on ship, etc. - which means that the early bird gets the worm. Everyone needs to weigh their own priorities and needs. If someone can wait until the last minute and they don't care that they're picking over the leftovers, then they can certainly take advantage of last-minute fire sales. I don't believe that's the majority of cruisers but I could be wrong.

These types of fire sales have been an industry standard for many years and it doesn't appear to have affected booking trends. Could that change? Sure, but I'm guessing not.

Just as an aside: we are booked on the epic transatlantic and was informed by fellow cc that if guaranteed cabins had been booked and final payment not yet paid could get balcony for just 469 dollars. Jumping at the chance we phoned ta only to find out these offers are not for UK citizens! After complaining to NCL to find out whats wrong with us Brits they said its a marketing thing and have given us fifty dollars obc to keep us sweet, still think its wrong!

  3. Have just returned from a christmas cruise with MSC. We used Romeinlimo for our 5th time for a tour of Rome which we undertook with friends who had never been before. Once again we had excellent service, driver waiting at the gate in the port, a very comfortable mercedes car and Franco was our driver and guide. His english is excellent and even though it is our 5th time in Rome, he still gave us new information and showed us the usual tourist sites for our friends and also ones we hadnt been before, namely the catecombs. He dropped us at a wonderful restaurant for our lunch which was a high standard but bery reasonably priced. We once again packed in a huge amount of sightseeing and arrived back at the port in plenty of time for our ship, without ever feeling that we were on a "whirlwind tour". Thankyou again Romeinlimo and we will definitely use your company again and I would recommend this company for anyone especially from a cruise as if there are at least 4 of you, it works out cheaper than the ships excursions, and you will see far more.:)

  4. Hi - we are doing the Miami to Barcelona on the Epic in April after a 4 week trip from Boston down to Miami via St Louis and Nashville. We like you have enjoyed NCL but havent been on the Epic. I will be posting my review when we get back early May

    Hi guys

I am an experienced NCL Cruiser and I find this company very nice. No dresscode, no fixed table at fixed hour with fixed waiter, etc. So next year my next big trip will take place. I'll do the transatlantic Cruise from Barcelona to Miami on the Norwegian Epic. After that one week Disney World and then the east-coast of the USA (Washington, New York, Boston) and Canada.

So I started reading some reviews for the Epic and I'm somewhat shocked about all the bad reviews that seem to arrive the last few weeks. If you go back further in time the Epic always get 4-5 rating, with some rare 2 or less, but now the majority of reviews has a 1-2 rating.

I know the Epic has some issues, but why of a sudden is everything so bad on this ship? Is there a new management? I'm getting a bit worried for my trip... Fortunately I have a Haven-suite...

    Any experiences here?

  5. wow these dresses are beautiful! I feel exactly the same way about you and love to dress up, but just lately I have taken to taking more "cocktail dresses" rather than my beautiful ball gowns. Last Christmas I was very upset to be openly sneered at by a fellow passenger telling me I was "very overdressed" as I had a full length sequinned gown on. Personally I prefer to be overdressed than underdressed and I think it is a great pity that the gala evenings seem to be disappearing. Maybe they should start advertising cruises for those "who do do cruises and want to dress up" That would be fun - I would love to wear some of my formal gowns somewhere again! Hope you have a great cruise whatever you choose to wear

One of my favorite things about cruising is being able to dress to the 9s on formal nights.

I have several gowns that I wear only on cruises and my work Christmas party.

However with Carnival going more casual and having elegant nights I'm not too sure about what to wear? I keep reading posts about people showing up in black jeans, shorts, tank tops and polo shirts.

As much as I want to wear a gown, I'm starting to think I'm going to look rather foolish next to someone in black jeans and a polo.

Any thoughts? Does anyone here dress up anymore or have you seen people recently dressed up? The photos below from Google are similar to mine to give you an idea of what I like to wear. Not the exact ones since I've had them for awhile. Am I going to look silly?

    Thanks for any insight.

  6. Have just returned from the Christmas cruise on MSC Spendida. As it was my first experience with this company I had read many previous reviews which were pretty mixed, so would like to briefly add mine. I found the ship beautiful, although a little confusing at times to find my way around for instance a couple of lifts only serviced certain decks so sometimes you had to go up to go down, and this took a bit of getting used to and finding ourselves at dead ends! The staff were all without exception very friendly, had a good standard of English and all we came into contact with strove very hard to leave us with a good impression, which they did. The food was all very good, especially in the dining room. The buffet was a very busy area, but no more than other ships we have been on. On the negative side, we found the entertainment lacking. The first theatre show we went to was brilliant, but after this lacked variety and headliner acts. The day time entertainment offered nothing to excite us, mainly geared towards children. The bingo was in the evening and clashed with our meals times, although we did get there on one occasion when we couldnt hear the numbers called due to a screaming baby. The final annoying part was unsupervised children left to run riot - mainly playing in the lifts finding it gfreat fun to press every single button in every single lift, making it take an age to get anywhere. However, I blame the parents not MSC. Overall though, with a reasonably priced drinks package, MSC offer excellent value for money and we would cruise with them again, although probably not at a peak childrens holiday time.

  7. Does anyone have experience with drink package 411? My family is debating whether to include this on our upcoming Christmas cruise on the Splendida, and it seems that the MSC website is less than forthcoming about the drink packages. Also, when calling the MSC USA cruise line number, we're receiving conflicting information (One cruise agent said yes, another said no when asked the exact same question!)

If you've purchased an MSC drink package 411 (or 412 understanding 411 doesn't include 'premium' brands):

1-Did you feel that the convenience value was worthwhile?

2-Does the drink package include drinks from the Espresso/Coffee Bar?

3-Was it difficult to get service at bars/restaurant/etc to take advantage of purchased package?

4-Did you have to purchase before the cruise or while aboard?

Any other feedback on the All-inclusive 24 hr drink package would be greatly appreciated!

We are booked onto this cruise too, first time with MSc and booked the all inclusive drinks package ( not premium) at the time of booking. Time will tell........

  8. Oh Dear I seem to have opened a can of worms ......... I have cruised a few times RCI twice NCL once Thomson once , my most enjoyable onboard experiences were with RCI my least so far was with Thomson :( and as a Brit Thomson are meant to be amazing according to reviews ???????????

So I suppose I will just have to wait and see what MSC is like , on a positive I have booked as a solo passenger a BALCONY cabin for 0% suppliment and no other cruise line has come close to offering that ............... well done MSC

We are spending christmas on Msc Splendida - having never tried this company before - like you I have spent a lot of time reading the reviews, but will not be put off and will make up my own mind - we are going with friends who havent cruised before and are determined to have a great time - and whats more, we WILL have a great time!!!!

  9. would like to just add my agreement with all the good comments about Romeinlimo company. I have just booked a Rome tour with them again this December which will be the 5th time we have used them. The drivers have all been amazing in their knowledge and safety even though they get closer to all the sites than anybody, they tailor the tour based on what you tell them you want to do - and then add on more which is always incredible. You will not be disappointed! Delice:)
