  1. I paid for a clam shell because my husband is a senior with difficulty walking.  He also likes some shade on the beach.  We were a little later getting off the ship because he is slower and doesn't want to hold anybody else up.  So, we got to the beach and started walking and walking...... It was a very hot day.  Nary an empty clam shell in sight.  I walked all the way to the end.  None.  We sat in the available chaise lounges.  When we got back onboard, I went to the excursion desk and they refunded our money.  No discussion.  No apology. That was on a half filled ship.

There was no one monitoring if you had reserved a clam shell.  So, I don't know if they oversold or just let anyone sit there.  It certainly needs to change.

The Vista suites on the Spirit class ships are very special, a true suite with separate bedroom and living room, dressing area and large bath with jacuzzi tub. The balcony is spectacular, best cabin by far we have ever stayed in. I would be very tempted to take that upgrade.

This is our first and probably our last Vista suite on our cruise around Great Britain on the Pride in August.  We are taking our adult grandson (6 foot 5 and 250 pounds) with my husband and myself.  We thought he could use a little privacy and we could all use a little more room!  My next cruise after that is in an ocean view room!

  3. I was just searching for something about how many cruises we had sailed, when I realized our next cruise be our 25th.  Then, I saw something about milestone cruises.  I began to investigate and realized that we could apply this to our already booked European cruise in a Vista suite with a bedroom.  I just called Carnival the other day and asked to have both my milestone reward and my husband's milestone reward applied to our onboard credit.  The lady told me that was no problem.  Waiting to see if it works!

  4. We just finished our 25th milestone cruise.  Not one single crew member recognized or commented on it.  A little disappointing.  What is not disappointing is the 25% of the cruise fare that we are taking for OBC on our next cruise.  We are taking a European cruise in a suite with a bedroom.  Since my husband and I are both at 25 cruises, we have been told that we will both get the onboard credit.  That combined with the $600 OBC for letting them hold are money for our Covid cancelled cruise and the $500 OBC we got for booking this cruise along with $100 stockholder benefit might actually cover our gambling debts!!

  5. I set up the private tour that Versailles offers.  It was only about $11 more than buying just the entrance ticket.  It lasted an hour and a half.  We saw parts of Versailles that are not open to the general public, which were wonderful.  It enabled us to go on the train around Versailles (we still laugh about that), see the gardens and fountains, etc.

There was a general admission line of approximately two hours. The best part was seeing the look on my daughters' and granddaughters' faces when we walked around to to a small building and were immediately let in to sit and wait for our tour to begin in 10 minutes.  Priceless!!

We also took either taxis or Uber for transportion.

  6. We took the $10 test at the port for our February 28 cruise out of Cape Canaveral.  It was just like people have said.  They asked for people who had a testing appointment.  We were sent off to the side to get in a line.  We waited for a few minutes, then our line approached the woman checking people in. She actually apologized for our wait which was no more than five minutes.   She asked our names and checked them off her sheet. Next was moving down the line and waiting for someone to call us into a small testing station.  From there, we sat down and waited for our names to be called.  It was rather busy at that time.  Our names were called and we received our results.  Thankfully, we were both negative.  We then finished the boarding procedure.  Our boarding appointment time was 10:30.  We were on board by 11:15.  I am an optimist, so we had no back up plan for these tests.

  7. We sailed earlier in January of this year.  One of the recommendations I would make is to go to the Cuchina del Capitano for lunch.  It is very good (officers eat here).  There is a $15 fee at night.  It stops serving lunch at 2:30.  Guy's Bar B Que did not seem to be open every day for lunch  The day that it was open, the line was huge.  We went to the Cuchina, which is next door.

The check in process for Your Time Dining was awful.  We had to go to the check in on one floor to get a slip of paper with our table number.  Then, you go to a different floor and a different part of the ship to go to the dining room.  We were assigned to the upper level.  When you get there, usually, no one is there to take you to your table.  All of the dining room staff were great.

Serenity is different from the other ships we have visited.  It is spread out over a couple of floors.  There is no elevator to the upper level.  It is difficult for some of the older adults to access.  One woman in a wheelchair asked a crew member if there was an elevator to get up there.  She was told that the only way was the steps.  We were disappointed that there was no library.  However, the Red Frog pub has been enlarged.  There is a stage for the entertainers.  If FBI/CIA are performing, go see them.  It has been awhile since we have heard a group with a horn section this good performing on a cruise ship.

We had a great time and I would definitely book this ship again.

The one I can remember is. Free entrance into blackjack or slot tournament.

Now it’s buy one get one free.

On the cruise where we became platinum, I said to my husband, let's join the slot tournament.  Buy one get one free.  We had never done that before.  I won the $500 and a tee shirt that is too small!

  9. 1.  Free laundry.  Use it every cruise.

    2.  Platinum and Diamond line at Guest Services.  Haven't had to use it often, but when I did I got dagger looks from people in the long regular line.

    3.  Chocolate covered strawberries.  Never met one I didn't like.

    4.  Lounges for waiting.   If I have to wait, I'm always glad to sit down.

    5.  Gifts.  Tervis glasses, need I say more.

Those are my top reasons but I appreciate many of the other perks, as well.

  10. We had the same questions before booking our cruise to Alaska. Carnival posted a special Journeys to Alaska, round trip from Long Beach. It had almost all of the sights that I had found on the "must see" lists. The most incredible sight that we saw was our day sailing Glacier Bay. Not to be missed! To see some of the interior, we took a Carnival excursion up to the White Pass, then went into the Yukon and British Columbia before returning to the ship. I would recommend this trip if Carnival offers it again.
