  1. We sailed the Caribbean in the fall of 2019 (Canada/New England, Return) and having been aboard her several times before were equally pleased and found the only significant change was to the Buffet.  There were times I expected we might hear a school bell ring for classes... But we use the Buffet so seldom, other than for breakfast where we often tray it back to our cabin, that we are not the best to review. But open hostility was observed in the MD about the quality of food. Our expectations now, of most cruise lines, are much lower in comparison to that of our first cruise in 1999 but doesn't that apply to almost everything in today's world.

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by...

  2. Years ago, aboard the Regal (The old Regal) they announced a FOD gathering which cause a bit of a stir.  We overheard people wondering who this 'Dorthy' may be and, as it was a public location, were planning on being in the room.  Knowing this I arranged with a Lesbian friend to make a somewhat late but dramatic entrance and as she stood in the entranceway I rose and approached her making a bit of a fuss saying "Oh, Dorothy".  The room went silent and confusion reigned.

...mini bar - had to ask several times (on a five night cruise) for it to be restocked, plus was told they had run out of items half way through cruise 😡

Although we neither purchase nor need a package plan and prefer to buy what and when needed, it was surprising that some very well known and popular brands had been depleted upon our arrival.  They were not available for the following two weeks.  Management did their best to sub and elevate the shortage and the brands reappeared for the final third week.  Perhaps efforts to maximize the value of the plans during previous cruises was the cause.

We embarked on the Summit on 2/15/20 with Expedited arrival (which was awesome). But we never received ANY HEALTH SCREENING at all!  We did receive several emails prior to our cruise about advanced screening etc so we were very surprised when there was absolutely nothing! Not even the normal screening ie Have you been sick in the last 2 weeks?  NOTHING!
Within the first hour onboard, a woman was vomiting in the rest room....

The week prior, we disembarked at San Juan for the day to reembark for our final week.  We were questioned by a person in uniform but when it became apparent that we had been on the ship the previous weeks he asked nothing further and we went aboard.  But other passengers were being questioned for sure.

  5. To the question, are men allowed to wear shorts to the dining room for dinner, the answer is no.  To the question do men were shorts to the dining room the answer is yes.  Having packed for our recent cruise aboard the Summit in accordance to what we read, we were really taken back at what some passengers were wearing.  We saw passengers who would not be allowed in any restaurant dressed as such.  But to be fair, we have to acknowledge that one of the three week stents was the Super Bowl and can leave that to your imagination.  While the majority of men dressed in trousers, there were may who wished to push the envelope so to speak, represented in part by those who felt it was acceptable to holler across two or three tables to friends.  An eye opener.

  6. Thanks for the addresses. These were more than just congratulatory encounters covered in the customary thanking manner.  These good people need to be recognized for work that in our estimation helps the company remain in the black.  For that reason we took and have the necessary details.

We were in Select dining on the Summit last summer and had the best waiter we have ever had on any of our cruises, Cedric. At the time his assistant waiter was Santosh. Cedric was not only extremely friendly but respectful, he was everything you want in a dining room waiter - remembered our preferences, his recommendations were excellent, and he really watched out for us...

Couldn't agree more, we are currently aboard and Cedric is the best

  8. The problem here and for anyone reading these postings is that it will spoil the best of the evening.  We booked it having no idea what it was all about.  We were truly mesmerized and delighted by the presentation, worthy of the applause after the related and satisfactory meal.

For someone who seems to spend a lot of time on the Celebrity board and has so much to say about Celebrity's policies, I'm amazed that you don't know that Celebrity's president and CEO is a woman, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

My beef is not with Celebrity alone, it is with the entire industry (save, finally P&O)

Why should I know anything about the control of Celebrity, I am but a customer.

I’ve read your position and think that you’re rationalizing being cheap and stiffing crew that you don’t interface with. It’s okay, though. It’s not anyone’s business but when you put it out on a public message board be prepared for the comments.

I guess we must be "stiffing" the CEO for we have no idea who he is, where he works or what he does, just like most employees of this line you are so concerned with. Must we tip them all?

And one can smell the cheapness.

Not in the dining room tonight, it being the final night.  Our waiters, assistant waiter and the gal on the desk who allocates table space are all more than happy with our presentation, something that was very rare in it's occurrence tonight.  You obviously have not read or understood our position.  We are most generous in gratuties.  But we will do it as we see fit and not dictated to by the carrier.

  12. The Petit Chef Restaurants added a service charge of 30% and we added the tip. Simple.  If the cruise lines will add a service charge of $15.50/day then that has to and will be paid.  We then can add our tips. But they won't do that do they for reasons I do not understand but suspect taxation. They call it the tip but then suggest that you do not have to pay it if you don't want to but you can pay it and pay extra if you wish.  Well is it or is it not the tip?

Don't bad mouth the public who have had enough of this nonsense.  One can almost taste the KOOL-AID
