  1. My husband comes from a culture that eats rice at every meal. He spoke with the dining room manager and was able to have his rice. Many of the crew come from "rice eating cultures." The DRM told us the crew mess always has white rice.

    Enjoy!

  2. I believe the handicapped cabin is for someone in a wheelchair. I see a ramp and it's a room that can easily handle a wheelchair, maybe a midship cabin near an elevator would be a good choice for you?

hmmmm, yes, someone in a wheelchair is handicapped AND someone who walks with a cane is handicapped too. If Steve defines himself as so based on the information he presented he is.

Have you ever tried to open a bathroom door in the middle of the night with a cane in one hand, arthritic knees, DJD, chronic back issues and tried to STEP-UP just so you could pee? Not easy. The handicapped accessible rooms do not have threshold steps. If Steve determines he need it, let him be. Wheelchair bound is not the only definition of handicapped.

  3. Grab yoour Room Steward and ask them for a larger size. They usually accomadate you. :D

DH and I were on the Amsterdam cruise Jan 2, 2007. I am on the "fluffy" side. Obviously the room steward noticed, so when he delivered the robes to our cabin, one was regular sized and one was extra large. Every time I slipped on the extra large robe, actually it was a bit too big for me, I thanked Hendri. It was nice not to have to worry about what was exposed to the Room service steward delivering the AM coffee.

  4. We've been on many cruise lines, but never HAL. This thread has me sold!

I have a couple of questions, are the Reidel wineglasses used in the dining room, or just the alternative restaurant? A good wine glass can make even cheap wine taste better~really! QUOTE]

    Hi Cute Little,

The Reidel wineglasses are just in the alternative restaurant. However, when DH and I ordered a bottle of Jordan Cab Sav in the regular dining room, the Wine Stewardess obtained the Reidel wineglasses to serve the Jordan. It was a very nice touch. That was the only night we had the Reidel glasses in the dining room. I would not ask for them every night as I am sure there is only a limited supply of these glasses. But if I were ordering a special wine in the dining room, I might ask.

  5. We met football player Drew Bledsoe on a Princess cruise in Feb 2002. Just after the Patriots won the superbowl. My husband played craps with him in the Casino a few times.

We have also met Charo on RCCL. She was the featured performer, but would mix and mingle after her shows. Boy, did dhe look fabulous and can she ever play a mean guitar!

    Happy cruising, Kathy
