I bought 100 shares today for around $20.00 a share. I will make my money back in OBC alone.!

I've been watching it go down, and was tempted, but I remember previous bailouts where the shareholders got nothing, so I'm still afraid to buy. Time will tell.  Good luck.

A few questions about Millie cabins:

    1. I'm sure they can dock this ship on either side, but do they typically dock on the starboard side?

    2. Did the canopies over the deck 6 suites survive the Revolution or do they still obstruct the downward view from the aft 2A balconies like cabin 7177.

    3. I booked a 2020 cruise onboard in January of this year, so there's no final payment issue yet. Can I move to another cabin or class and retain my perks if this undisclosed canopy obstructed view is still an issue? I just learned about the canopies while further researching the cabin on CC.

    Thanks!!

We booked a Royal suite for the next cruise and came across this image; very unhappy about the removal of the canopies, both for privacy and sun protection resons.

They have made some changes in response to guest feedback. In the sky suites they added coffee tables in the living areas (there weren't any so not a replacement), removed the rockers that were too big (and it doesn't look like they are replacing) and replaced small balcony tables with good-sized tables. They have also replaced some bar stools that were not comfortable and didn't have foot rests.

Who spec'd out the original decisions?  Just like some of the chairs in public areas look 'cool' but totally impractical and uncomfortable.

There is a cover on the balcony but only over the section where the hot tub is.  The rest is open.  We liked getting the sun on the veranda in the other sections but you are TOTALY exposed to the other decks above that look straight down to the veranda.

We are on the TA later this month in a RS.  Very unhappy that they removed the overhead tarps giving us privacy.  On a TA with lots of sea days, we wanted the larg(er) deck, but without others looking down at us and protection from the sun. What were they thinking (or not). We'll never book another RS.

  5. We were on this same sailing as the OP. After speaking with several of the high ranking officers onboard, the delay was not (I repeat WAS NOT) caused by Celebrity. The officers and individuals that were working with the Russian customs officers were denied access to the passports to identify who was missing (hence the reason the announcements were very vague about who was missing).

Yes in the beginning approximately 30 passports were missing and had not been turned in by the passengers as they should have been upon re-boarding the vessel. Finally after many attempts by Celebrity staff, just before midnight, the Russian officials let Celebrity look at the passports to locate which two passports were "missing." It ended up that the Russian officials had put two non-checked passports in to the completed pile by mistake (or on purpose as some expected). The delayed departure caused Celebrity to have to pay double for the "privilege" of dropping anchor in Russian waters. Celebrity also had to incur an estimated $400,000 loss for the delayed departure in added fuel costs.

The only reason that Celebrity stops here is for cheap fuel. The fuel costs are so low at this port, it must be worth all the trouble and upset passengers. Our TAs were supposed to inform us that this was the reason for this port of call, but I suspect many (like myself) were not informed of this.

We took this port with a grain of salt. We knew going into this cruise that Russia makes this stop very difficult and we may not even get to get off the ship. We considered our ship lucky that we got to get out and see what little bit we did get to see. Would I go there again? Sure why not. Is it a priority to go there again? Umm, no.

Thanks for the insight. As a RCL shareholder I appreciate that they stop there for cheap fuel. I'm surprised that the delay of several hours costs an additional $400,000 in fuel, especially if it is cheap fuel.

Even if Celebrity made the stop for cheap fuel, I'm not sure why they would have to tell pax of the reason. Well, since we're on the cruise next year, it will be an adventure. :D

  6. In some ports you need to take your passport off the ship to clear immigration, in St Petersburg for example. You also need to take it off in Venice as they can request to check it.

I've never had my passport taken by Celebrity. It lives in the safe and I take a photocopy off unless I'm told I need the real thing (Russia, Venice etc)

On several cruises we've had our passports taken by Celebrity. I would prefer to keep it, but they do it for good reason and we've never had a problem.

  7. The delay is because some passengers are not following instructions to bring their passports to Guest Services:mad:

...and primarily the Russian authorities decided to do a re-check of passports, which is something I've never heard of before. Not excusing the pax that didn't give them the passports.
