  1. We are just off the Vista this morning. Matt Mitchum told us at the diamond/platinum party yesterday that Triumph is going to be officially Sunshined and that they don’t know yet what the new name will be. He did not mention when it would happen.

Wasn’t sure if someone already confirmed this on cruise critic so just wanted to share.

We just got off this morning too! Great time!! Mat is great!

  2. FYI

Sailing on the Vista in 2 days, I received an email from Carnival saying that the Sky Ride and running track is closed for maintenance. It is expected to be closed for the next 2 week.

A teeny-tiny bit disappointed; yet things happen. I am still looking forward to an awesome cruise.

MAAAN!! I would Hate to have that happen on our sailing (June 2nd). How was your cruise? Any pics? Did you even miss it not being open?

  3. . . . wanting to get the most bang for our buck. Of the three listed (Hilton, Breezes, or Sandals) which one is a good place to start? Pros/cons of each? It looks like Sandals may be the furthest away, while Breezes gives you the most bang for your buck, but Hilton is within walking distance and you get a nice food/drink voucher. I need help from cruise veterans!!

I would also like to know. . .we are cruising Harmon in March. . .will be in Nassau from 10a to 7pm. Looking for some fun and not the traditional 'herded shopping' stops. Any ideas??

  4. I too feel like a different person. Much more relaxed and excited. . and grateful for the opportunity. I'm generally a pretty nice and polite person. But on a ship. . .I think I get a little more 'open'. I like to engage in conversation. . be more 'chit-chatty' with people. . get to know people. .find out where they are from. Especially if they have an accent different from mine. . .which doesn't feel like an accent at all to me! :)

  5. Oh yah..... I forgot to add one of the worst things about cruising is when there is Noro like virus outbreak. It changes the tenor and enjoyment of the cruise to a very large degree, IMO so many things are closed, not available and the crew are exhausted from all the cleaning and scrubbing. So, please..... wash your hands often when on a ship and certainly when using that toilet I referenced above. :D

THANKFULLY, we've never experienced that. This, by far, has got to be the top ranking worst thing about cruising!

  6. For me, the worst thing about cruising is having to put my luggage out the night before debarkation. I'm always afraid that I'll forget something and my luggage will be gone! Thankfully, this has never happened. PLUS the fact that it's always hard packing up on the last night. We have so many 'extra' items we didn't have before we got here. So, it's usually trying to incorporate some type of magic to get it to all fit without going over the airline weight guidelines! This time, I think we'll try to bring an empty soft bag to bring those extra items home.

  7. We actually like to have options so we definitely over pack. However' date=' I don't see the problem in doing that? We have 2 suitcases each that once they are dropped off with the porters aren't a problem at all. It's not like we have to lug them around or anything. We do dress up every night but that's what we like to do. We probably don't wear a third of what we bring but that's ok since we don't know which third that is going to be before we cruise! Unless you are flying I don't see the big deal about over packing. Just gives us more options while we are on the ship. That being said I know every one is different but if you are new to cruising don't worry about over packing is my take. Happy Cruising!!![/quote']

We are definitely over packers! We pack about 2 or 3 outfits for each day. . .including a semi-dressy outfit for each night at dinner. We each take 2 pieces of luggage plus 2 carry ons. Since the airline doesn't have a problem with it. Plus we don't stuff the bags. We are careful that each one is within the set weight guidelines. Honestly, we don't wear or use half of what we bring, but we get a kick out of packing things JIK (just in case). LOL!!

  8. Our first cruise was aboard the Carnival Ecstasy. September 1995:rolleyes:. I can't remember where we sailed from. . .memory escapes me. . .but I think it was only 3 or 4 nights. . .we visited Nassau Bahamas. . .Man, I can't remember anything . I just remember this is what got us hooked! Even though I got seasick and lost an entire day. . .I loved to cruise from this point on. We will never do anything less than 7 days.

  9. We are in Cabin 9727 for the May 2016 Sailing on OTS. For the location, we would rather have #9729 - to be the last cabin on that deck. However, now that I know the bed is closer to the balcony on the 9727, I think I prefer that. I like a little more space for getting dressed and seems like it would be better to have the configuration of the bed near the balcony vs near the closet door. From my understanding, that's the only difference. The view looks amazing from either balcony. On past sailings, we've had 8723 and 8721 (i think). . .and the views were great both times. Deck 8 is my ultimate preference. . .but hey. . .we'll take deck 9.:o

  10. Thanks Plunkebe for a great detailed review. I can't wait for our cruise. . .going on the Oasis in May and then the Harmony next year in February. My hubby and I LOVE to cruise. Have never had a bad experience. I didn't know people were so judgmental and dare I say 'combative' about dressing up or down for dinner. ME. . I LOVE to dress up. It really doesn't matter what other guests chose to do, after all. . we are all on vacation and we should do what makes us enjoy the vacation. Hubby and I love to dress up for the formal nights. We look forward to those nights. Again. . .thanks so much for your account. I can't wait to do mine. . .only 151 days to go! :D
