  1. LOL.  Sorry.   This was 3 years back I think when chic night started for not too long.    The previous cruise I was on was supposed to be "black tie" formal night so  I rent a tux.   Turns out most people just wear a suit.  So this time I make sure to look at other people to see what they were wearing for future references.   I was on a Caribbean cruise too.

Well, went shopping today for some more slacks, and what do you know — there, on the rack, was a beautiful (to my eyes) blue/black paisley tux jacket that fit me perfectly! So of course I bought it and now my wife needs some new fancy dresses. So we’ll be on the formal end of the spectrum now!

And really, my attitude toward my fellow passengers and their sartorial choices is very much “you do you”. As long as we’re all having a good time, I’m not going to look askance at anyone’s clothing choices. Except my kids, but that’s a totally different conversation...

  2. I have only been to 2 chic nights, but here is my observation for men's outfits:

60+ older men: dress like they are going to a ball
50-59: dress like they are going to a business meeting
40-49: dress like they are going to a casual wedding
40 and under: dress like they are going to a dance club

You’re killing me Smalls....I’m 52 and just went out and bought a new suit for chic nights on our March 21 Equinox sailing to the Western Caribbean.

Maybe I should reconsider my decision not to bring my tux or tails.

  3. We’ll be on Mykonos with Celebrity Reflection in a couple weeks. Being history buffs, we have booked a guided excursion to Delos. The trip is supposed to be 8 - 11:30, starting and ending in the same place as we tender from the ship.

Does that time frame also allow us enough time to go to a beach before we have to be back on board? We’re not real beachy people, but the idea of being in the Aegean and not spending at least a little time by the ocean seems like it would be a missed opportunity.

    TIA!

  4. I think this thread is fabulous, especially since you local folks are so kind with your time to answer all of these questions in such informative detail.

Unfortunately, the thread is so big most people won't want to go through it to find the information they are looking for. And keyword searhcing is not an intuitive thing for most people. We are a scroll-and-scan society, not a seek-and-find society. And 62 pages is a lot to scan, so lots of folks will skip the thread and just ask the same question someone else did previously.

An index would be great - or maybe there's a way to break the thread down into smaller chunks by some sort of category.

Either way, I for one am greatly appreciative of everyone who takes the time to post their local knowledge on the board. Thanks a zillion!
