  1. Here is my tale of woe!! My wife and I were booked on back to back cruises on the “Legend” for October 20 and the 30th, with the 30th being a transatlantic. Carnival informed us, I am also the agent of record, that they are canceling us and to proceed to their site to request a refund or future cruise credit. Of course I did that. One week later I went to the Carnival booking engine and the cruise was still on record as being active. So I cancelled both. Ten days later I received 2 emails from Carnival stating that they were sorry that my clients cancelled the cruises, with no penalty.
Let’s fast forward to May 28, I called Carnival again and to my surprise, I was told that I did nothing in advising Carnival what I wanted to do with the deposit money. The agent then put in the request to refund my deposits. So Carnival sat on our $1600 all this time. Today, June 5th, I wrote to Carnival Guest Relations and told them they had enough time sitting on our money and to refund it ASAP.
Next step is to file a written claim to my credit card company to press Carnival to refund our deposits.

They take the money fast enough, but sure drag their feet returning it.

  2. Hi Everyone,

We will be taking a land/sea package to Australia in March 2020. My wife is scared to death of cable cars. I was lucky to get her on the cable cars in Santorini. I know she will refuse to get on the cable car in Cairns, even though it is a one way trip.

If anyone has been on this tour or did the cable car, is there an alternate way to get from point A to point B. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. You can just make a posting or you can email us - Bedford.1425@comcast.net

    Thanks for any help.

  3. My wife and I are two of those still waiting to get on the Emerald. Our journey began at 9:15 this morning at the LAX airport. Had to wait nearly 2 hours for transfer. Arrived at cruise terminal at 12 noon. Princess made an announcement that disembarking was delayed and embarking will be delayed until sometime after 2 PM. The natives are getting restless. There will be a mad dash to the buffet. I know we are hungry and so is everyone else.

  4. It has been a long time since I have made a posting review of my cruise experience, but my last and just about completed cruise on The Breeze has forced me to do so. This cruise was a retirement cruise for my wife who just left the teaching profession.

I want to make it clear that I used time share points to partly pay for our cruise. The best thing about this cruise was the service, beyond that it will be a very long time before we go on a Carnival cruise again.

I will make this posting as a simple as I can by using a rating of 1-5 stars, with 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest.

Service *****. Exceptional, our room steward, customer service(purser), and wait staff in the main dining room were great.

Cleanliness *** 1/2. The Breeze was clean, but the foul smell in the hall leading to our aft balcony, deck 8 port, was stomach churning. Our balcony was a mess, but our top notch room steward took care of everything.

Food ** it was a hit or miss in the dining room. Many a night the meal was cold or tepid at best. Buffet was average, but Guys Burgers was the best meal on the ship.

Entertainment * What entertainment? Main show room canned music. We saw the same shows, exactly the same, on the Glory 15 months ago. The only comics were good, but had none after the third night for an 8 night cruise. Carnival blames canceled flights and mechanical problems. I call it going cheap. They should of had them waiting for us in st. Kitts or San Juan, not Grand Turk. The passengers had to entertain themselves with karaoke. Sea day activities, nothing but trivia. Thank goodness we brought our scrabble game and books.

It is quite obvious that Carnival is cutting corners to deeply. I could go and on but do not want to bore you. Overall, we did have a good time, but no more Carnival for us, unless they make drastic changes. We will now shift back to Royal Caribbean and Princess.

Oh yea, the latest, starting 3 weeks ago no more delivering of any liquor you bought to your room. I must go and pick it up the morning you leave between six and eight thirty in the morning the day at the liquor store.

You get what you pay for on Carnival.

  5. I read your posting with great interest. My wife and I always book an aft cabin, not on the side, but truely on the aft. Without knowing when you booked the cruise, it may have been possible that the cabin you have was the only port side balcony available. It would not have mattered if you booked with Princess or a cruise specialist, they would have had the same selection. The Coral Princess does not have true aft cabins, meaning the cabins are truely on the aft(the rear end).

Getting back to the aft, as I mentioned earlier, my wife and I always book the true aft cabin. We find it to be totally relaxing. The beauty and colors of the wake of the ship, the sound of the water and the panoramic views. We sometimes chock our balcony door open at night so we can just hear the water.

We just recently took a 9 night cruise on the Caribbean Princess (RT New York) and had a true aft cabin, there is nothing more spectacular than cruising out of NY harbor and then under the Verazano Narrows Bridge. Also, when you leave each port you have this panoramic view of the ports.

We are cruising the Emerald Princess July 7 '11 on a 11N Scandanavian cruise, then moving on to a 12N Med cruise on the new Carnival Magic July 24 '11, and guess what, we are in a true aft cabins for both cruises.

Aft cabins are not for everyone, but for us, there is no cabin like it. Try one once, I'm sure you will always take a true aft again.

Enjoy your cruise on the Ruby!!
