We are on the Viking Sky at this time. We were in the Faroe Islands a few days ago and had a wonderful full day Golden Circle tour with M&M.   Our guide was a gentleman named John and he was an excellent representative of his country. He was one of the best tour guide we’ve had on this trip. Although the weather was cold, wet and rainy, John helped to make it a delightful day.  He loves his island and was proud to show it.  I would not hesitate to book this tour in the future and you can only hope to get this wonderful guide.

Lotusgirl22....I hope you had a great trip.  We are doing the same pre-cruise extension in Aug.  How did the embarkation day work?  Did Viking pick up your luggage early in the day and then you transferred to the ship separately?  I am trying to decide if we can do a private tour on embarkation day, but I am not sure about the logistics.  I don’t want to be worrying about our luggage making it to the ship and I don’t want to drag them along on a tour.  Any thoughts?  Thank you.

What % extra do you tip for the spa services?  Is USD ok or do you add it as an onboard charge?  Just trying to figure out what is appropriate.  Thanks.

Looking forward to your reports.  We are on the Aug. 13th Iceland to Norway Cruise.  First time on Viking.  Thank you for your input.

We will be heading to Alaska in mid Sept on Celebrity Solstice. I was looking for opinions for booking excursions. I am concerned about booking excursions in advance because of the possibility of poor weather. I believe I have three options: 1. Book excursions in advance with the ship so I can cancel near the excursion date if the weather is poor. 2. Books excursions with the ship once we board, therefore better able to judge the weather conditions. 3. Book private excursions prior to departure so that we are with smaller groups, but have less flexibility with poor weather cancellations. We don't mind touring in some rain and cool weather, but we don't necessarily want to do that each day, which is a possibility in Alaska in Sept. So, any thoughts on what to do? Thank you.
