  1. As they say, "your never to old" ! I wore this gown, which I received from our CC friend, Marie, 2 yrs. ago & I was 70 yrs. old ! So if you feel comfortable, go for it or you could always add thin straps. :) (sorry the pic is alittle blurry).

WOW...you look fabulous! Love the hot pink on you too...great color!

  2. I hope formal nights don't disappear. We don't cruise to dress up, nor do we care what others choose to do on formal nights but my husband and I love to dress up for ourselves and each other and having the opportunity to do so when we're relaxing on a cruise is perfect. We attend Mardi Gras balls every year...which are much more formal than what you see on a cruise ship...so a regular tux and slinky evening gown are not over the top to us. But I will say that, depending on the itinerary, I would opt to leave the formalwear at home. For instance, we're planning an Alaskan cruise for next summer and I don't think we'll be packing the tux or long dresses for that one. I'd rather see people having a good time no matter how they're dressed than to feel miserable because they were forced to wear something they didn't want to wear!

  3. TA's received advance notice of another Princess Sale .

Won't be able to book the sailings until Dec 3rd.

Lots of sailings all through 2015 , not just the next couple months as usual.

Will feature reduced "refundable" deposits :)

Includes the usual reduced rates, OBC and Free Specialty Dining for 2 .

See your TA for advance details or to book after sale start date .

Thank you! Got a fare reduction of $200 per person on our cruise next October, plus an additional $100 OBC (we already had $100), plus free dinner in one of the specialty restaurants. Shoot...at this rate Princess will be paying US to cruise!

  4. We just returned from a land trip in the South of France. Cannes didn't do much for me...lots of shops and yachts, blah, blah, blah. We stayed in Nice for 4 days...it's big...if you go there you should have an idea of where you want to go and what you want to do. We also went to Antibes and I really liked it...very quaint...lots of winding streets/alleys...reminded me a bit of Venice in that regard.

If you're a beach person, the beaches in Nice are rock...no sand. It is a little uncomfortable to lie on...they have private beaches that rent chairs but usually for a half day at a time. Cannes has sand beaches but I would suspect that it might be a little crowded during the film festival. Antibes has great sand beaches too...a little more laid back than Cannes.

  5. I also like wheeled duffels. We have a couple of Timberland wheeled duffels that have a hard bottom compartment for delicate stuff and extremely sturdy, well made wheels...which is crucial. We've schlepped them on planes, trains, ships...up and down metro steps, across the bridges of Venice, in and out of rental cars...still going strong after 7+ years.

  6. NOOOOO... you NEED primer with mineral makeup, it might be optional with liquid makeup, but the mineral makeup will look cakey (especially in fine lines) if you don't use primer first (and allow it a couple minutes to set before applying the makeup).

Now, see, I didn't know this! I have Bare Escentuals mineral makeup and I don't use it because it settles into the fine lines but I never tried using it with primer...can't wait to try it again now. Thanks!

  7. I've just started using Cover Girl Liquiline Blast gel eyeliner and I love it. Glides on very smoothly without tugging and the other end has a great smudging tool. I wear glasses so eyeliner is critical. :)

I give myself a mini facial on weekends...exfoliate with Olay Regenerist Thermal Mini Peel, then use Freeman Facial Peel-Off Cucumber Mask, followed by Boots No 7 Intensive Moisture Face Mask.

  8. This is embarrassing:o and is a closely held secret, but I use Monistat Anti Chafing cream (the stuff you put between your legs) as a foundation primer. It is the best on the market and VERY affordable. My BFF does makeup for some very high profile clients and she's the one who told me about it. I have raging rosacea and it doesn't aggravate it. In fact it has allowed me to use products that would normally cause a flare.

    I use it too...great stuff!

  9. Found the thread while searching for the recipe. Finally gave up and emailed Carnival. They coughed up the recipe! Oops.....it's enough for a ship full of people. If I ever get around to the conversions, I'll post. Maybe someone else will be really ambitious and post them for us. (Or, with the ingredients in hand, there's probably a similar, smaller recipe out there somewhere.) Good luck! Here it is:

    MELTING CHOCOLATE CAKE:

    80 lb Black chocolate

    80 lb Butter

    800 ea Eggs

    50lb Sugar

Note: - Please make sure that the eggs are at room temperature and chocolate is warm enough while making the mixture

In order to do the conversion, we'd have to know how many servings the original recipe makes.
