  1. Hi there. My mom and I just disembarked Anthem yesterday. She was in cabin 6224 and I was in 6226, so very close to 6172.

The view, meh, I don't spend that much time in the cabin. I do practice yoga every morning on the balcony, weather permitting, and the lifeboat/view weren't in the way of that.

Noise is another story. I like to sleep with the balcony door open. I like fresh air, especially at the end of a long winter when I've had to sleep with the windows shut for months. For some ridiculous reason, the crew powerwashed deck 5 several times during the voyage at 4 or 430 AM. Absolutely ridiculous, and the only response was that I should be keeping my door shut at night. Um, no. I'm paying to get out of cold weather and I want fresh air at night.

Another problem at night was the lights on deck 5. The only way to have a dark room is to fully shut the curtains which I don't care for, I need natural light.

If you keep your cabin shut up tight at night, it would not be a problem. For me, I would not consider a cabin on that deck again.

Besides that, and the barely passable food in the main dining room, it was a great cruise!

  2. I personally did not care for Harvest Caye, it's entirely too artificial and reminded me of the country pavilions at Epcot in Disney World, or the film "Please exit through the gift shop". From the ship it looked somewhat interesting, but once on the island it's such an artificial environment that there isn't even any snorkeling off the beach. Sure there's a "nature experience", an oxymoron if I've ever heard one.

  3. "Your fellow passengers would not even allow that one area for smokers if they had their way. Some even complain that they have to "jog through clouds of cigarette smoke" on deck 7 aft. (A gross exaggeration in my view."

I train for and walk half marathons so did quite a few laps on Deck 7 on the QM2 holiday cruise. Walking through the maze of smokers was vile. Not only did I have to hold my breath to avoid the stench, but I was constantly picking up trash to keep it from blowing into the sea. No other area of the ship had so much garbage on the deck

"It's only going to get worse for smokers."

    As it should.

  4. Looks like Celebrity charges $38 for transportation to and from Megan's Bay. Has anyone done this excursion? Does it cover $4 to get onto Megan's Bay and a chair? Do it think it is cheaper to take a taxi and pay on your own? I need some help here please. Been to St Thomas many times, but always find an excuse not to go to Megan's Bay. I'm doing it this time(March)!!

Each time I've been to St. Thomas, I just grab a cab. it's nowhere near $38, that's ridiculous. $10, maybe $12? which includes entrance. It does not include a chair, just bring a towel from the ship. There are plenty of cabs at the beach, no problem getting one back to the pier.

  5. No coffee makers in QM2 cabins.

I've read here that they have introduced a Costa coffee card in Sir Samuel's. Something like $38 for 10 coffees. Perhaps this will be a higher quality coffee (beans and/or preparation) that will be more tolerable.

Come find the roll call thread for the cruise - for some reason there appear to be two threads running in parallel. See you onboard...

    thanks, will do!

  6. My family and I are traveling on the QM2 Christmas Caribbean cruise and I have a coffee question.

I've never been on the QM2, but I have cruised on the QE2, 10 years ago, and I clearly remember the ATROCIOUS coffee. Understandable, it's a tea drinking country.

Are there coffee makers in the cabin? If so, do they use the hotel style coffee pods?

    I appreciate any info!

    Thank you
