  1. I feel for the OP. It would have been nice if those couple days were considered in their plan. It’s seems very arbitrary to give people cruising on March 10 or later the ability to cancel and get FCC but not the couple days prior. Since there is a chance of quarantine ( no one can say at this

time that there isn’t)  it seems reasonable that people who work might not want to take the chance. Not every employer would be sympathetic and if you can’t afford to lose your job, canceling and rescheduling might be the most responsible thing to do. People whose cruises just happen to be March 8 & 9

shouldn’t be penalized for making a responsible decision.

I have a cruise on April 23 and am not considering canceling right now. As the date gets closer, I’ll reevaluate. I appreciate having the option of rescheduling; I wish OP had the same choice.

  2. I was looking at dinner info for Getaway on the NVL website. For each restaurant it tells wether the charge is per item or one price, then it says 20% gratuity, then a specialty  dining fee. What the heck is that? Is it new or have I been paying this and never noticed it? It’s not enough that we pay extras for the food( now we have to pay fir the privilege of eating there too? Anyone know how much this fee is?

  3. Lindsay and Paul left on vacation the day after I came back. They drive to Nashville to spend 2 nights, then drove to Florida to meet his family at Disney World. She texted me to say that the Magic Kingdom is much less crowded today than when we went in January. WTH [emoji35] January was supposed to be the least crowded time. At least they're having fun. Here is a picture of them at Boardwalk last night.

  4. I have been very loyal to NCL, probably to the point of being a cheer leap. I love FreeStyle cruising and have always thought the crew was the best. In talking to crew members on my last cruise,it seems as though s lot of them sent happy with the way FDR is running things. I feel like it's not the same NCL that it used to be. Dropping the champagne, one box of Godiva per room, not per guest, making the specialty restaurants a la carte - those changes have made us consider switching lines. Now with not being able to bring pop and water onboard, we may just shop around. So many changes have changed my feelings about the line that I loved so much.

  5. OP - Even though I think NCL new policy stinks, please don't remove the DSC to offset any additional expense as a few posters here have suggested. You'd be making the crew pay for NCL management's greed and that just wouldn't be fair. I'd get even by not eating in the specialty restaurants, or purchasing photos, or taking a ship excursion etc.

  6. Thank you. Today's results were inconclusive so she's being admitted to the hospital for further testing. And you're right, her health is the most important thing. If she misses the cruises and loses the money but gains her health back, she'll be happy.

  7. Thanks everyone. I probably phrased my question poorly. If she is unable to go (which she'll find out today) losing the money is going to be the least of her problems :( I'm trying to stay positive, but right now she's so exhausted that she says she wouldn't have the energy to go. Keeping my fingers crossed that the doctor has a magic elixir that will help her.

  8. We all have studio cabins. My friend gets her test results tomorrow and that will be the deciding factor on if she'll be able to go. If we could find someone else and that person could pay her even half of her cruise fare, she'd be ahead.

    Thanks to everyone for responding.

  9. My sister, a friend & I are on the 5/20 Epic sailing from Rome. Our friend is ill and may not be able to go on this trip. If she can't go and if we could find someone else who can, does NCL allow passenger changes?

Before anyone asks, no, she didn't take insurance. And no, she's not complaining about losing the money. She knows she should have gotten it. We just thought we could help her recoup some of the expense by getting someone else to take her place.
