  1. We're back from the sensation. We skipped the splash pad on the boat and obviously stayed out of the pool, but we had a great time at the Melia in Nassau - pool and beach and my son thought that the beach shower thingy was as fun as a splash pad so we were fine. If we take a longer cruise I will be sure to find a boat with a baby friendly area or finish potty training first! We didn't see many babies/toddlers on the sensation but we had a good time anyway.

  2. Hi sbeth,

There is a "splash" area where the waterslides end (you can see it in my photo of H and his grandma). H used this area several times (and wasn't potty trained). There weren't any signs saying he couldn't and no one ever said anything to use. If he wasn't allowed to be in there, I had no idea! I, of course, never let him near any of the pools, because I knew those were off limits.

Thanks! We know to stay away from the pools but I can't seem to get a straight answer from Carnival about the splash pad on Sensation. It literally changes every time I talk to them on the phone! Our son is in the process of potty training and never (knock on wood) has unpredictable poop accidents so I'm thinking that given this and the 50/50 answers I'm getting from Carnival on the phone, maybe it will be okay to be in the splash pad just a bit. We regularly go to splash pads at home and have never had an issue. It does seem to be confusing to navigate this issue. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  3. Your pictures are great. We are thinking about booking the Stuart Cove excursion. Did you actually swim with the sharks? I read on the website that the sharks are way at the bottom and you are just snorkeling at the top, is that right? All your sharks look right at the top! ;)

We did the Stuart Cove excursion a few years ago and had a great time. Yes, in theory the sharks are "at the bottom" and you are at the top but they slowly start to come up. That's when I decided to get out of the water! I don't know if the excursion is the same as when I did it but we had 3 snorkeling stops, so if the sharks aren't your thing, there were other really nice spots too! Watch out for the cocktails they serve on the way back. High octane...

  4. Just got back from Nassau and had a FANTASTIC time with Stuart's Cove. The fish were plentiful and diverse. All three stops were exciting (the shark stop was unreal!), but I really enjoyed the second stop. They took us to a site with a submerged plane that was just awesome. The guides were fun and friendly and the operation was really well organized. Watch out for the rum punch! Really! I almost slept through dinner!
