Thank you everyone so much for your responses - you all have re-assured me that cruising at night will be fine as it will be light enough to see the scenery  - and I also learned  that we will also need  to make sure we get up early too 😀

I have had Noway cruise on my bucket list for a very long time and I finally have  a tentative 9 day Norway cruise booked with Holland America (Norse Legends) for next June (2021).

In sharing my plans with a co-worker, she said she had done a cruise to Norway in the past (on NCL) and her biggest complaint was the timing of when they sailed through the fjords - a a lot of it was at night and therefore she feels she missed out on a good portion the scenery....

Now I am concerned that the same thing may happen on the cruise I am currently booked on - so my question is  - does anyone have any prior experience on the Norse Legends cruise on Holland America and timing of sailing the fjords?

As my main goal is to see the Fjords - is there a particular cruise or cruise line that would be a better choice to ensure more 'daytime' sailing of the fjords?  I am far enough out that I can cancel my current cruise and book something else... I am open to any and all suggestions!!

Thank you all for your very helpful responses!! We are going to see if we can make this cruise happen - my daughter is graduating from her Masters Program next May and the graduation date in past years was right around the same time as the cruise itself so I am currently waiting for confirmation of her graduation date for next May...

But it is good to know that even if this cruise/date does not work out for us - there are other Norwegian Fjord cruise options available that many of you have enjoyed as well !! Norway has been on our bucket list for many years so it Is exciting to finally be in the planning stage for this trip...

I have never cruised with Holland America and I was looking at the 14 Day Fjord Explorer Cruise on 5/20/19 on the Prinsedam. What drew me to this cruise was the ability to really cruise into the fjords and I am guessing it is because the Prinsedam is a small ship.

I just noticed that the Prisendam will be retiring on 7/1/19 - so only a few weeks after this cruise. I am not sure logistically if I will be able to sail next May - so my question - do you think that they will offer this trip again but on a different ship - or all the remaining ships too large? I am just wondering if this might be my only opportunity to sail this cruise?

Also, with the ship retiring only a few weeks after this trip - do you think they will keep the ship "up to par" so to speak this close to retirement? Just curious of your thoughts....

Lastly, if anyone on these boards has done this cruise in the past - did you enjoy it?

Hi - just passing along a FYI to anyone visiting Horseshoe Bay on a windy day. We visited last Thursday (July 5th) and they were not renting any umbrellas that day due to the windy conditions.

They did have a offer a VIP Beach package which included a Shade Canopy with 4 lounge chairs and a bucket of 4 waters for $150. They will set up the shade canopy for you and carry the loungers to a spot you choose. I did not see an option to rent just the canopy separate - or maybe with less chairs etc. but I did not ask about other options. They did sell out of the shade canopies by around noon (and we were the only ship docked at the Dockyard that day) They seemed to have a lot less canopies than umbrellas - so if shade is important to you then try and get there early on a windy day in case all they are renting are the canopies that day.

I will admit the canopy was wonderful and ended up being a better option than an umbrella would have been - there was more room and more shade than an umbrella would have provided - it was very nice.

I only pass this along as I NEED shade at the beach and was not prepared for umbrellas to be unavailable due to wind - and I had not budgeted $150 for the shade canopy rental either.... I did not know that the canopies were even an option .... Hope this helps someone !!

We are heading to Bermuda in a few weeks on NCL Escape - and would like to visit Horseshoe Bay later in the day after a tour excursion we have booked. I would like to head over to Horseshoe Bay around 4:00pm and would like to stay until maybe 7:00pm or so if possible ... and I have a few questions -

Is Horseshoe Bay "open" that late or does it close at a certain time?

Will we be able to get a taxi there at 4:00pm from the Dockyard ? I am not sure how late the Taxis are avail at the Dockyard.

Will be able to get a taxi from Horseshoe Bay at 7:00pm or so? Again - I am not sure how late taxis are avail at Horseshoe Bay...

If taxis are not an option for that time of day - is Uber or Lyft avail on Bermuda? would that be an option?

We have stayed in a M6 Mini-suite on the Escape and we were a group of 4 adults (us & adult children) and the bed was by the balcony and there was a pull-down from ceiling and sofa that converted to single bed that were by the closet. The large balcony was awesome - had 2 loungers and 2 regular chairs - we could all be out enjoying the balcony at the same time.

I had called yesterday inquiring about the 1/2 deposit on Anthem - which was included in 1/2 off deposit WoW sale yesterday but is now excluded in the 1/2 promo that started today... Hopefully OP was looking at a different ship that still has the 1/2 off deposit promo today

I called earlier today and asked - the price and on board credit will be valid tomorrow if you put a courtesy hold on it today but not the 1/2 deposit - the 1/2 price deposit expires tonight at midnight... it will revert to regular deposit amount tomorrow if not paid by midnight tonight. You may want to call RCCL and see if you get the same info ...:confused:
