  1. Your information is incorrect.  Azamara’s policy is identical to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity...if you choose to cancel and do so up to 48 hours prior to your sailing date, you get a future cruise credit.  Any refunds are a result of the cruise line canceling a voyage or if a guest is denied boarding for health reasons.  So far Azamara has not cancelled anything.  When and if they do, those guests will receive a refund.

  2. I’m on the Singapore -Dubai cruise as well.  I have every confidence that Azamara will make the decision as soon as they can, and in the worst case scenario, will make things right for their guests.  I just had to buy a second ticket to Singapore, as my original one connected through Hong Kong.  It’s all very frustrating, but I have faith Azamara will resolve this situation (which is not their fault), as best they can.  Still almost two months to go.

  3. I just stayed in one on the 16 day transatlantic Journey crossing just a few weeks ago.  Lack of storage in the bathroom was really the only downside.  The desk was lower than normal as well, but I rarely sat at it.  I think I remember checking the dimensions, and the accessible suites were actually larger than the regular ones. We had no issues.

  4. The reserved seats were for the High Seas Choir made up of guests, who were the opening act for the show.  Some of them may have left after they finished singing for other seating, but the seats were utilized and occupied prior to their performance.  Anyone there early enough would have been free to move into any abandoned seat.

  5. Spent most of the afternoon trying to figure this out.  I am booked solo on the 10/10 Journey b2b with the 10/3. Have a friend who wants to join me, but when I tried to add her in, saw the itinerary had changed.  Worse, it is different in two different places on the Azamara website.  Worse still, I have Le Club Voyage benefits of free nights applied to this cruise, which I will probably lose if I cancel.  And I really loved the Greece itinerary.  What a mess.

  6. I was locked out after the third question, I believe, the one about occupation.  I am a travel advisor, but I am also Discoverer Plus, and have always paid full fare on every cruise.  Guess I should have chosen a different category of employment, like business owner or entrepreneur.  Apparently, my opinion as a very loyal customer does not count because of my profession.  Annoying.

  7. I am currently on the Journey’s transatlantic cruise.  Just wanted to let everyone know that we are going to try to go live on Facebook with the show on Monday, November 5 at 9:45 pm Eastern time.  The show is called Showstoppers and stars cruise director Eric De Gray and the cast.  To view, go to Eric’s Facebook page: EDG Productions.  Hope you can join the fun.

  8. On my last cruise to Southeast Asia in March, White Night was scheduled for an overnight in Vietnam. (We were notified on checkin at the pier). It was a rainy night, and the HD and CD elected to call it at the last minute, even after the tables and buffet had already been set up. Instead, it was held 2 nights later in Bangkok, on what was a lovely evening. I believe that was preferred by most to moving it indoors. So, to answer your question, there is most likely a tentative date set, based on overnights or late departures, but can be changed at a moment’s notice.

I understand your concern, however. A few years back, we missed the White Night in Amsterdam because we had made other plans before knowing White Night was scheduled. I was bummed.

And yes, it is a wonderful evening.

  9. Everything worked fine for me, and I am glad to see this new technology. I discovered I had jumped to Discoverer Plus two cruises ago last November, but never received email notification. Had I not been proactive, I could have easily missed out on the 6 free nights awarded when reaching that new level. I’ll be booking onboard next month, just under the wire. Whew!

  10. What a lovely thread idea, Phil.

On our first Azamara cruise, on the Journey in 2010, we were attending the Chef’s Table. The officer who was hosting asked me if I had a favorite food and wine pairing. I said it was champagne and popcorn, because of the cold, crisp taste of the champagne and the warm salty taste of the popcorn. He said he had never heard of that, but was intrigued. The next day, there was a knock on our cabin door and we were presented with a cold bottle of champagnes, a bowl of hot, buttered popcorn and a note saying, “Thank you...you were right!”

Also on the Journey last summer, I arrived with a badly damaged suitcase. I asked Heike if I might get some duct tape to strap it together for the trip home. Instead, she whisked it away to the joiner, and two days later it was returned, perfectly repaired, at no charge.

However, what I will always cherish is that the staff and crew have truly become friends. When my husband died unexpectedly last year, I was overwhelmed by the phone calls, texts and messages and even flowers, from so many of them, from Captain Johannes to Heike to Lee and Alex and Sheldon and Jason, Virgilio, Mario, and so many more. And Eric DeGray truly saved my life with his constant love and support. This wasn’t marketing; it was truly caring, and I will be forever grateful.
