  1. Thank-you Campo Lady! We've just arrived here for a months stay and will certainly be referring back to these pages. We visited on past cruises and decided worthy of an extended stay...(even brought along the little dog)...

Not quite over the jetlag...but we'll be out and about soon..rainy today anyhow.. thanks again!

    Dave & Yoli. .and Pixy

  2. Right, this comes as a result of the explosion last week on one ferry and at least 2 other bombs found on 2 other vessels. These are the ferrys that transfer passengers to - from Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. Another nail in the "tourist coffin" of Mexico...sad.

  3. While behavioural differences in passengers are apparent, my experience with the crew was the opposite - one of the best ever.

That said, they do have specific crew catering to Chinese speakers since they are the majority, so if you were trying to force a question there, you wouldn't get far. Conversely there are traditional crew onboard who haven't learnt Chinese, so would focus on the traditional customer base. I found the way the crew managed the divide very well done.

Agree that most of the Chinese crew we were in contact with were polite very helpful. The Chinese passengers' behaviors were all over the place...but the behaviors were typical of their culture... you just kinda got used to it or planned around it... btw been on the Quantum for 64 nites...

  4. Your guess based on what? From the photos it looks surface - furniture, dishes, glass, doors, some ceiling material. Messy as hell but nothing that affected the engines or the seaworthiness. Can't imagine it would be out for that long.

They'll put a ton of folks on it to fix it up as quickly as possible. They don't want to cancel another cruise unless they absolutely have to.

Based on online reports and info from photos...I'm betting RCCL will ensure that the Ship's systems are up and fully functional. ..re at least one Radome was damaged..the logistics to acquire these specialized items must be considered. .

  5. Just my opinion and BIG guess.....getting into NJ on Wednesday.

    Options:

Stay out to sea until Friday or Saturday

Email all NEW pax not to arrive at port until after 4pm

Why have all of these pax leave the ship on Wednesday? They have plenty of time to make most repairs.....in the meantime....everyone has food and board. I don't understand why everyone is assuming that the pax are being led off the ship on Wednesday.

Does anyone understand what I am trying to say? All or most damages are cosmetic.....correct?

This event has caused major damage, not some minor "cosmetic " level to be repaired in a week.. Cleanup ..replacement, restock and to test all new systems expect 2wks to a month...my guess of course

  6. Here is my opinion on the negative reviews and reports that people here are referencing.

There were definitely "growing" or "adjusting" pains in the initial cruises: Transatlantic, pre-inaugurals, taster cruises, maiden/inaugural cruise.

But I can confidently say that you will all be better served by ONLY reading/crediting reviews beginning with the December 1 cruise.

    Things have improved THAT much.

    :)

We were on the same cruise as well and were pleasantly surprised by what we experienced after having read so many of the negative comments. Thanks for posting your review, and I we feel it reflects very close to how we felt about The Quantum... Although we didn't experience the Bumper cars,IFly ,flo rider activities (North Star cancelled due to wind), the fit and finish appeared spot on as well as the overall decor ,design and detail. The dynamic dining works fine ..for us we never felt crowded or delayed. One concern was that the music selection in some of the dining venues could have been more orientated to the theme...and a bit less on the volume, esp when seated below the speakers..(It was often difficult to hear each other )

Solarium was sometime a bit warm..but not after soaking in the spa...

  7. Sorry about your bag. Hope it has turned up now and is winging its way to you!

Kudos to the folks who searched and assisted in the locating and return of our missing luggage. The Post Cruise Lost Luggage Department followed up and did the yeoman's job of ensuring the return. Thanks also to the freight courrier DHL who were the transporters of said luggage , even to the point of a second attempt in delivery to us on the same day. :)

  8. Enjoyed your review, Thank-you for posting. We enjoyed the cruise .give it a 8.5 on a 1 to 10 scale.. The thing to alert future travelers on I think would be the expectations on the rib boat excursion in Torshavn. Depending on the water conditions it can (was) be hazardous. Age and physical limitations really need to be assessed by the tour operators before boarding.

The other event that I need to mention is that one of our suitcases , a smaller size purple in color was not with our luggage (#21) upon departure. So, if someone out there reads this and has a case full of unfamiliar items, chances are you've accidentally nabbed our bag. I Celebrity (is ) on the lookout as well and we hope it will turn up!
