Orlando will be out of your way, but traffic on I-95 starts getting hairy south of Vero Beach (which is north of WPB), IMO, so I might make the detour to avoid it.

Thanks.  That is what I am thinking; make the slight detour.  The drive is just too much for my nerves these days.  We have been making that drive at least 4 times a year and traffic has gotten so bad on I-95.  It is about 4.5 hours to MCO and 6.5 to West Palm.

Interesting.  I haven't had the plain old green one for many, many years.  Once upon a time it was free.  I do also have the Hilton one which is free.

Do you have the regular Amex Platinum or the Amex Delta Skymiles Platinum.  I called and was told this offer not valid for the Skymiles Platinum.  😞

  4. Capriciousc. Harmony would be a great ship to try with Children. Might find a better price than Symphony since it has been around a few years by then.

Just a heads up about the Harmony; it does not have an adults only pool if you are looking for that.

We live in Savannah and cruise several times a year from PC and it is definitely an easy drive. No overnight required.

  5. We received a message on our door this morning saying the us government put a ferry travel warning for Cozumel. That was unexpected. Further the ship cancelled all ferry excursions. Not sure what is going on as no ship people are talking. Is other excursions safe? This is very disturbing

As a post mentioned below, I also read on a cruise blog but do not know if it is fact, that the warning and the cancellations are due to one excursion boat exploding. It was determined there was an exploding device on it and that another device was found on another boat.

  6. True... however the Radisson offers a logistical benefit.

The Raddison Vancouver Airport is located in Richmond. Richmond cab advertises 6 passenger service. Look at the bottom right corner of this FAQ. http://www.richmondtaxi.ca/faqs

The Raddison Vancouver Airport's location makes it easy to request and schedule a 6 passenger vehicle for clients. Otherwise, the 20 minute $4 subway ride across the street is another option.

Keep in mind with 6 passengers.... your luggage may be sitting on your lap all the way into the airport. Otherwise.... the minivan offers lots of luggage space for less passengers.

We don’t need a 6 passenger. Just making the statement about the rate in case someone needs it; same price for 6 passengers as it is 2.

Thanks for all the info on Taxi though. One thing I find with the boards is the information is usually most helpful for someone even if not the OP. [emoji4]

  7. Nope - cabs from anywhere except the airport are, by law, metered. Rate thus depends on traffic and is usually $40+ from any 'airport' hotel even if the cabbie doesn't take a roundabout route, with the Rad pricier than most as it's further south than many and not close to the main highway heading toward downtown. Cabs from airport are fixed CAD$35 to the pier - with US rate depending on what the current real exchange rate is and how much your cabbie pads the rate in their favour.

6 seater cabs are also very, VERY rare in Vancouver (I see one every ~2 years on average). With typical cruise luggage, even the 5 seater minivans actually only seat 4 comfortably - you'd need to be traveling light to fit all bags in the trunk area.

  8. We booked the Radisson Airport on Cambie for late September. 2018. We booked a non refundable rate for $199 USD.

The nice thing is they are totally renovating right now. This includes the pool and the dining.

They have a complimentary airport shuttle (2 miles). Cab from hotel to cruise port is $31 (USD) for up to 6 passengers.

  9. The cruise package is with the Holiday Inn Vancouver Airport - Richmond at 10720 Cambie Rd in Richmond.

Search ihg.com and find this hotel. Pick "Offers" (near the top of the header) and scroll down. You'll see "cruise ship package." They have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then the cruise ship package includes room, breakfast, and a shuttle to the pier.

    Thank you!

  10. I would agree that cab to hotel from airport is more convenient than SkyTrain and walking (and even with just 2 people, SkyTrain then a cab would be a negligible saving thanks to the $5 per person inbound AddFare). BH could be walkable to the pier, depending on weather/how much luggage/how mobile you are (it's only 3/4 mile on foot). The most important thing, which you're already doing, is to avoid cruiseline transfers - they're a total ripoff from the airport, and simply insanely overpriced between pier and downtown hotels.

Thank you. Cab it will be. Yes, transfers are pricey; $24.50pp (US) each way,

  11. Blue Horizon - all their rooms are corners with balconies, so you can choose from a roughly NorthEast or NorthWest room with a view that will include the mountains (and in the latter case, Stanley Park - you can wave at your old fave the Bayshore!) While the high floor view rooms are pricier than lower floors, it should be a decent saving compared to the Bayshore and still check off all your needs.

We are staying pre-cruise at the Blue Horizon for the second time. The first time we had a cruise line transfer to the port so we did not pay attention to how we got there.

What is the best way to get to the cruise port from the Blue Horizon and the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?

    Thanks!

  12. Another hotel option: we've booked the "cruise" package from the Holiday Inn in Richmond. Includes room for 1 night, breakfast, and transportation to the cruise port. We get in late so this was a good deal for us. I found this option after hunting around their website for special deals/local deals. It didn't come up in the search results. You need to look for it.

Is this the Holiday Inn Express at the airport? Does it also include transportation from the airport to the hotel, from the cruiseport?

    Thanks.
