A number of us all got upsell offers around the same time. Our offer was $US199/pp, but was converted by Princess, at their high exchange rate, to $C289/pp
Thanks for your opinion, I'm leaning towards not taking it as well!

I have a feeling this is the same deal, 199 USD per person would be 400 USD but in Canadian dollars it would almost be 600 CDN. Seems rather steep even though it’s cheaper than what is online
-
Thanks for everyone’s opinion. The price online is about 650 more per person over what I’m paying now so it is a good deal' however, I may have better things to do with the 400 dollars ☺️

Read the fine print on the upsell offer re: Canadian $$ quotes. I suspect you will pay even less - here's what mine said last week:
*CAD pricing is an estimate only as exchange rates vary. Actual CAD pricing is based on the exchange rate used at the time the booking was originally made. Speak to an Upgrade agent at the number listed above for actual pricing.
Edited to add that if you're interested in taking the offer, call right away because they usually have a limited number of upsells available and they send out more offers than they have cabins available.
Thanks for pointing that out to me!

No you didn't say it was per person. That would be too much for me to take the upsell.
Oops sorry you are right, its per person. Thanks for your opinion!

congrats your upsell sounds way better than mine!

If total for the cabin would probably take it but two things you are not telling us
How long is the cruise and is this the total extra cost or per person?
I mentioned, 289 CDN per person.

Hey there, yes 7 day Caribbean in December. The minisuites go far way more than that amount so on paper its a good deal.
-
Hey everyone, I'm booked into an obstructed balcony on Regal Princess and just got an email to a minisuite for 199US/289CDN (I'm Canadian so it would be the latter). I never have been in a minisuite before but I don't want to get used to being spoiled😂 .Would you guys take the offer?

Just east of you in Durham.
Interesting about the swapping of perks., if you have a link to that thread I’d be interested in seeing it as e everything I've read on hear suggests it’s a no go. Many people even reporting difficulties in swapping the red wine for white.
We recently upgraded to a neighbourhood guarantee on our Christmas sailing on Oasis and 2 weeks later were assigned 2 CP balconies. This will be our third time in them.
Thanks for info, yes I have been to Durham a lot, I used to work in Oshawa.
i think I was google searching this topic and found an old thread with a few mentioning they had luck when going on board switching. I’m ok either way, it’s a bonus for me. Some other cruise lines like NCL charge you the gratuities so on an alcohol package that is not exactly free and quite $$$. Looks like these neighbourhood balconies are not all that popular. Last time I was on Oasis I was inside, and it wasn’t that much to upgrade to GTY so hope We get a decent room. Was the noise a problem? Privacy? Not thrilled that people can see inside, but I gather we would keep our drapes closed in the evening anyways. Obviously would have loved an ocean view but it was too expensive over this kind of balcony.

Thanks so much Ken! Toronto here, fellow Canadian! I’d much rather have the CP actually but looks like more Boardwalk available online. The wine and lunch for 2 would be nice, as we don’t really drink soda and don’t climb walls 😛. I did read on another thread some people were successful in mix and match promo items.

Hey everyone
i just booked a GTY Neighbourhood balcony on Oasis and wondering if this promo is still active? I don’t know if I will be getting a Central Park or Boardwalk balcony yet. Are the promos exchangeable? And if you get the soda package, do you have to pay gratuities on top or is it all included?
Thanks much!

Toronto guy here looking to see if any guys are headed on the same cruise. Looking forward to Italy and the Amalfi coast!

Awesome! I’ve been to Aruba but never the other islands. May try to attend the LGBT get together but it’s always around dinner time.

Anyone on this cruise? Celebrating my birthday on board and very excited! :)

Thanks so much Paul, new fan here, going on Equinox for the first time to the ABCs for my birthday in October and love living vicariously through you guys! Thanks for your hard work in taking us along for the ride!
-
Thanks Nordic Prince, I booked an inside on Equinox, one of the last remaining and I like the inside corridors and hope it will be quiet! They seem to be much larger rooms than most inside cabins too.
-
I am booked on Equinox in October and the website already has 30 percent off specials the first night. Which would mean Murano is 35. Our ship doesn’t look full so hopefully I can negotiate a better deal for 25 to 30 when getting aboard. I can see the ship dilemma they want to fill up the spots but don’t want to set a precedent of ultra cheap discounts.

How does one determine how many empty cabins there are on a ship?
I typically go on line and do a trial booking, although its not 100% reliable, you can get an idea of what cabins are available. This one seems to have a huge number of cabins especially balcony cabins. Wish we could predict when the prices drop to the lowest, as even if there are a lot of cabins, sooner or later they will raise the price and start upgrading the insides and oceanviews to balconies.

Was 30% on night 1 when we ate at Tuscan!

Thanks! Did you book on line ahead of time or wait until you got on board to book? Did you notice promos on the first night?
-
I've heard stories here on CC about more than 30% off on the first night, like two for one. However, on our last cruise on the Summit in January, I had to ask about four people over the course of a couple hours to get a $30 cover from $50 for QSine on the first night. As you wait longer, certain dining times may get filled as well.
From the sounds of it, it is hit and miss and depends alot on the sailing. For some reason there seems to be a LOT of empty cabins on this sailing, I was debating between this one and Norwegian Jade where there is a major promo going on with the site I use to book. However, I've done Celebrity and I think they have a much better reputation. It would be very nice to get a 2 for 1 deal on the first night. I am mostly happy with main dining room but always wanted to try Murano or Tuscan Grille.
-
I've never tried it, but there's room for bargaining on a first night dinner when you get on board (or check in if there's someone selling specialty meals on the dock). Most passengers are offered 30%, but Aqua Class passengers are generally offered 50% off. That means that the restaurant sales folks might just have some leeway...so it's a friendly negotiation to try to 50% off. Might work...might not.
Good luck....
I wouldn't be able to afford being an Aqua Class passenger (maybe someday!). I'll look into it on embarkation, thanks for the info.

Check your cruise planner at the Celebrity website. We cruise the Equinox 10/15/18, and first night dining reservations are being sold at 30% off for most restaurants.
Thanks Kevin! I’m actually thinking of booking the same cruise last minute! Hoping to get a good deal our first night. Wondering if it’s better to wait to get on board. Doesn’t look like a full sailing as of now.

Hey there, I’m looking into a cruise on Equinox, was there a deal on specialty dining on embarkation day? I’m on a bit of a budget travelling with three others and would like to try Murano or Tuscan Grille but the prices are a bit too steep for us. Thanks!
Would you take this upsell?

Wow, seems like lots of different opinions, it’s true that each person has their own comfort level, that’s what makes the world so great! I was on an obstructed balcony two years ago and I didn’t mind the tender in front of me, I liked sitting out there for the fresh air and a bit of sun. The full balconies are not worth the price to me but must admit I’d never been in a minisuite and was very curious. And I do agree with the previous poster about the bad exchange rate. I would pay the 199 usd and not the 289 Cdn. Still about 60 a night for both of us, I think I’ll pass. Probably too late though I’m sure someone has taken the bait already!
